in googling around, many row house developments have common attic spaces...basements seem separate- except in a few cases where the wall has been compromised, the coal chutes, and a few tunnels- usually from front to back. Some places have a trail running behind each row.

Is that a common thing with homes? Or would that be apartments to connect in the basement? We don't have basements too much out here. Rare & an oddity. That would probably worry me a bit.

Having only ever lived in an apt- where the basement was one huge underground area that ran underneath- and detached homes, these look like one very long apartment building to me...

We had a bomb shelter under our front porch when I was a kid.

ETA: If you go back to the property listing, and wander down the street- there are some deck/porches built up in the front of some. I imagine you could dig out a room like area under some of them- for storage, etc, and there are basement windows visible.

The kidnapper was wearing gloves. Identity of voices? There is no voice on the video. Height? There are millions of people with that same height. It'd be very unlikely anyone could recognize a kidnapper from the video-and since there have been no arrests, it certainly appears that no one had.

<modsnip>

I NEVER MENTIONED THE KIDNAPPER BEING IDENITFIED BY THE VIDEO.
The abducted child HEARD the kidnapper speak.
THERE is a possibility the child could recognize her kidnappers voice.
That must be considered.
Don't forget the child most likely saw the kidnapper WITHOUT HER BURKA.

No one mentioned the video KIA.

The kidnapped child is five. She is neither deaf or blind. She saw and heard her kidnapper.

Actually, we were discussing whether someone can recognize the kidnapper from the video. The video was mentioned from the very beginning of that discussion. As for a five year old, I think everybody agrees by now that eyewitness identification is not very reliable even when it comes to adults (let alone a five year old). Faulty eyewitness identification is responsible for most wrongful convictions later overturned by DNA evidence.

the thing that matters the most is that the five year old has been FOUND and able to give more information to the police... the best sort of information.

Maybe with the child's input... And the front office personnel input... And the sub's input.. Eventually LE could find a voice match?

Especially if there is a distinctive characteristic in the perp's voice?

Just some thoughts...

The trail is an alley or drive way momrids if that is what you mean? I've lived in different parts of Philadelphia in rowhouses and our basements are not connected. In some cases your basement is underground and others you have a door that leads out to either a cubby hole or little yard. In my case I have a garage as well and they do connect, but only a mouse or rat or bug crosses those things.

Although I have never lived in West Philly I have had friends that did. Also South and SW Philly. Most of the houses I recall out in SW had no yard, but a basement door where you could get out to what we call a driveway. To others a trail.

You never know though. You just don't considering who lives next to who??? Looking back to West which has Universities and the like, but they had MOVE and they did whatever they wanted.

MOO My hinky meter is way up on the 14yr old and the 5yr old being somehow connected. IMO it is too ironic that 2 girls would go missing on the same day and be in such close proximity. C could be very similar to N developmentally/socially. IMO C would be an easy target if she is higher functioning. I am very concerned about what was taking place in that home N was taken to. (I wont type it, but see the stats in the human trafficking thread).

Before anyone throws tomatoes let me give some background on how I came to this viewpoint. The news reports C has Autism but [Autism is now labeled Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD)] we don't know where she is on that spectrum. I know that Autistic kids sometimes wander away, but they don't typically runaway to be with someone. If she did I would have to speculate that she is pretty high functioning. Individuals with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities often struggle with social skills (ex:who is safe).

*O/T* personal experience: I have an intellectually challenged child and she has a very friendly demeanor. We have worked for 5 years on "Stranger Danger" and she still walked quietly away with a man who took her hand and said "come on pretty girl"-he to had developmental issues(long story but I was within reach and grabbed her back).

momrids, I haven't looked at the property, but yes we have porches some of us, and some people although there's zoning against it build a high fence around them so nobody can see you. Some people build decks out back as well.

FWIW, the basements IRC used to be dirt depending on where you live. Even if you have concrete it hasn't been past people to dig large holes down in their basement. A murderer called "The Shoemaker" did that here. I know people that did it for plumbing purposes as well.

Not saying this poor child was in a home where this happened, but you had me think of Gary Heidnik. Rowhomes. We're all close together. He had women chained up in his house for long periods in the basment and nobody heard them. Then we had MOVE members. They built a fortress around their house.

Sorry for OT just thinking out loud.

LE doesn't have to ask media to back off. If nothing new is known, media has nothing to report.

I presume you have never met Michael Chitwood, jenny.

Then again he's not in Philly anymore, but a baby was found in as he calls it "His town". That man would tell the Pope to back off if he wanted to.

Hope it's O.K. to double post. I feel so bad for this poor baby.

Since I am local and basically confined to caring for my mom I was going to answer a few questions since I am local. Other locals may have a different opinion.

AA people with green eyes. Philadelphia is vastly diverese. Would I notice? Probably if it was a Muslim woman because I focus on their eyes. Where would an AA woman go to buy contacts? Take your pick however as was mentioned this doesn't mean they are contacts. Would a child notice? IMO yes. When you're being abducted? Thank goodness I don't know.

As far as witnesses again this lady had a big *** umbrella. People were either in work or possibly in bed or went back to bed. I didn't check to see how many corner stores were close to the school, but if anyone saw you that'd be the place.

We try to mind our own business. However, there's plenty of young folks out there that don't miss a trick.

Oh and apparently is it that Muslims can have four wives if they can afford them? Again I know nada about Islam, but someone told me that thus maybe the dad's lady friends? Wives?

Yes Filly, driveway or alley- called a trail here, which encompasses a dirt, gravel or paved path :)

It may sound culturally insensitive, but seriously how does any man qualify as being wealthy enough for four wives?

If each wife lives in a separate household, that man must be raking in some cold hard cash from somewhere.

If I met someone once for a few minutes I would definitely not remember what their voice sound like. MOO

The reason I do not think the autistic 14 year old is the same person is because she has run away before. Also, there is no confirmation the 5 year old was helped by a minor. Lastly, by her being autistic, I do not see her helping someone run away. Of course this is just moo.

The article had said ex-girlfriends. So either ex-wifes or ex-girlfriends could have been at separate times. Someone said that Muslims are only allowed up to four wives at one time.

I am not even sure that Mr. Robinson is a practicing Muslim. I do not believe he has 4 wives at all. I think he is just s serial dater and has a few girlfriends to check out.

Right? Especially here in Philadelphia.

Honestly again I don't know anything about Islam. Well except for what Muslims tell me or people that were Muslim or think they have a clue. I was just putting it out there. The reports said wives so I had to ask.

You are not culturally insensitive.

Hey, these young people call their girlfriends wifey or they all address eachother as husband and wife and are not legally married. I could care less, but sometimes I think "Geez lil Ma just met her boyfriend two weeks ago and now she's his wife?"
