People being detained and "exported" by ICE

So when will these political prisoners be returned to the States for due process?

NO TDA members. NONE.

I would trust El Salvador over that statement vs the idiots in the US who thought an autism awareness puzzle picture tattoo was a gang symbol.

But oh my, it sure did play up to the MAGA base to deport all these brown people.

moo
Was wondering when they will be returned back to their homes and lives in the States, what a gross miscarriage of every human and civil right that they are entitled too. Slandered and wrongfully accused of being something they are not, probably lost their jobs and accommodations, rounded up and sent off without even being able to talk to someone who can help them, all because of skin colour, tattoos and clothing choices. It's a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 disgrace. It's 2025 - has society seriously not caught up with the times!
Yes, absolutely believe the El Salvadoran gent here, trump administration had done nothing but spew filth, lies and rhetoric for weeks.

Moo, jmo, imo

Here’s another story about a US citizen receiving a letter from DHS telling him to self-deport. He was born and raised in San Diego and he provided them with his US birth certificate. He is guilty of zero crimes. These type of things will keep happening and getting more common under this administration. Targeted for the color of his skin, his name and his occupation IMO.

Venezuela's Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said on Friday that none of the hundreds of Venezuelans deported by the U.S. to a Salvadoran prison is a member of Venezuela's Tren de Aragua criminal gang, the reason Washington gave for expelling them.

Yes, absolutely believe the El Salvadoran gent here,

Just to clarify, it’s Venezuela saying the Venezuelan prisoners are not TDA gang members, not El Salvador. I would never trust El Salvador on anything. Bukele is corrupt.

American doctor receives email from immigration officials telling her to leave the country immediately

Immigration attorney, who is a US citizen, gets self-deportation email from DHS

U.S. immigration authorities issued a blunt warning in an unprecedented mass email to people living in the country under specific immigration protections: “It is time for you to leave the United States.”
[snip]
Still, experts caution that U.S. citizens should take steps to protect themselves in the unlikely event that they are approached by immigration authorities contesting their citizenship.

Kristen Harris, an immigration attorney in Chicago, advised that U.S. citizens who receive the notice should immediately seek counsel from an immigration attorney.

Geez ... the article calls it "sprawling authoritarianism". Exactly what so many people are warning about the US - obviously due to similar things now happening in the US.

Only Trump is using it on immigrants, not gangs. Using it on many people who were trying to escape the gangs and their violence.

"Sprawling authoritarianism
Following a spike in gang violence that left 87 people dead in a single weekend, Bukele curtailed the right to be informed of the reason for arrest and access to a lawyer upon being detained.

By February 2024, more than 76,000 people – almost 2% of the Salvadoran population — had been detained under the provisions of mano dura. Critics have decried the crackdown as a gross human rights violation. Troops have rounded people up for having tattoos and being in poor neighbourhoods, leading to the detention of thousands of innocent people in overcrowded Salvadorian jails.

Instead of taking measures to prevent abusive arrests, Bukele has publicly backed the security forces. There are also few independent judges in the country after Bukele’s party passed a reform in 2021 that gave the supreme court the power to remove judges and force them into retirement."

I wasn't stating what Trump or the US should or shouldn't do.

I was suggesting that El Salvador has been a cesspit of human misery for a hundred years: brutal civil war, then gangs imported from the US that took over the country with endless violence and extortion, preventing the establishment of any kind of democracy by corrupting all officials with graft ... plus, most importantly, El Salvador have the sovereignty to establish whatever kind of government and prison system they want, whether or not priviliged first world people 'approve'.

For example, have we not learned how arrogant it was for missionaries and white settlers to label indigenous people as 'barbaric', and insist they be forced to copy white people's high and mighty values?

IMO, many people are doing the exact same thing in declaring their own superior understanding of human rights and trying to impose those on third world countries.

This has nothing to do with establishing that kind of government in the US.

The US is not El Salvador or but equally, El Salvador is not the US.

the us is only paying el salvador to house tda terrorist gang members - not innocent people deported - and agreeing to pay for a year - this is because venezuela won't take the tda members back. what bukele does with them is up to him. the mess was created before trump took office, thank goodness he's trying to fix it.

What factual evidence is there that any of the people deported to El Salvador are TDA gang members? So far it’s been nothing but hearsay.

And once again each and every one of the deportees has the right of due process, instead the US government has denied them due process by kidnapping and trafficking them overseas. Not to mention the slander and defamation.

The law is not being followed and its leaving the US wide open to compensation claims down the track.

A 32-year-old Venezuelan immigrant, Ricardo Prada Vásquez, reportedly went the wrong way while delivering a food order in January in Detroit, ended up crossing the Canadian border, was taken into custody by U.S. authorities, and deported.

He was sent to El Salvador.

"What we're seeing is one wrong turn at the Detroit bridge — the Ambassador Bridge — can result in your loved one disappearing," Christine Sauve, the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center's communications coordinator told the Free Press. "And that shouldn't be the case."

Prada was "among tens of thousands of Venezuelans who migrated to the United States in recent years as their country descended into crisis under the government of Nicolás Maduro."

It appears, the Time reported, Prada had permission to enter America through the CBP One app, which Republicans have criticized as a backdoor into the country. Prada went to Chicago and then to Detroit, where he was awaiting an immigration appointment.

But when he mistakenly left the country, authorities no longer considered his status valid.

This receiving emails ordering people to self deport is starting to sound like the gov is trying to rid the US not only of immigrants but anyone who has a job advising or helping immigrants.

And others just because they have a foreign sounding name, particularly latino sounding names.

Many people come to the US legally and overstay their visas. As soon as that happens, they're here illegally. I don't see much difference with this. They came here legally and lost their visas so now they're illegal.

I know somebody who spent 10 months in Krome Detention Center (an ICE facility) for overstaying his visa. So sadly these two will be in detention for a long time.

100% spin. They did NOT overstay. The State Department revoked their Visa without due process. Lets not spread misinformation.

Without due process, it's possible none are criminals. None. Ask yourself what you would do if ICE arrested you without due process. "Oh but here's my birth certificate/citizenship papers/passport." And ICE says "oh that's a fraud. Off to El Salvador you go."

What then? You have zero recourse without due process.

This is lawlessness.

It's like if we all went into the murder threads and just advocated for no trials for anyone. Police should just arrest their POIs and execute them based on whether or not they have blue eyes or whether or not they own a black hoodie. No need for evidence, no need for a hearing or trial. They have a black hoodie so they're the killer! Can you imagine?

MOO.

On top of everything else, this administration is insanely incompetent. So now you have US citizens needing immigration attorneys. If I was this incompetent at my job, I'd be unemployed.

Human rights violations are not a matter of ethnicity or nationality. They're a matter of fact. No one is imposing laws on another country. We're commenting on violating the rights we all have just by virtue of being born, no matter where that birth took place.

And to sort of piggyback of of that - we can see the administration is already starting this by their letters to US citizens who have Hispanic or Latino sounding names telling them to self deport and leave the country. There is no basis or grounds for this obviously but they are doing it anyway. So to say that only “gang members” are being targeting and deported is honestly a bold face lie. There have been so many articles posted in this thread about non-criminals being detained and deported. Visas being revoked with zero warning or reason. This is happening to people who are here in this country legally or actual US born citizens. And Trump himself says he actually wants to start deporting “homegrowns” to foreign prisons. He wants to get rid of birthright citizenship. None of this is ok or legal, as evidenced by the sheer number of lawsuits that have been filed. Just MOO.

It’s apparent that no matter what is posted if it’s not for allowing all undocumented ppl in the usa then it’s frowned on.

I would like to see at least 10 million ( half) if not all 20 million of what the previous administration allowed to enter. If allowed to stay not on any benefits that Americans paid into.

What? I haven't seen anybody saying allow all undocumented people into the United States. I have only read posters say that people need to be afforded due process as is set out in the Constitution of this country. JMO

Do you have a source that confirms the previous administration allowed 20 million undocumented people in? Thank you.
