Thank you. So a great big nothing burger, yet the DOJ decides to use it in their attempt to vilify this man.

In a separate statement from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, officials said he was pulled over for speeding and driving erratically.

The DHS officials said the police officers suspected Abrego Garcia of human trafficking.

“A police officer identified eight other people in the car with no luggage,” the DHS news release said. “They all gave Abrego Garcia's address as their home address.”
I don’t find it too problematic if he was giving people a ride to work or to the store, etc. I’ve worked in areas with immigrant populations and it’s not unusual for people in a neighborhood to share a car. I do find it unusual that everyone in the car gave his address as theirs. Did he have these 8 people living at his house? Did they have a residence? Did they have jobs?

Either way, it doesn’t justify sending him to a prison in El Salvador.
 
Not sure if they lived in Maryland, or what state they lived in at the time, but of note is that it appears no criminal charges of domestic battery were laid by LE. As the wife explained, her fear was based on a prior relationship and she sought "a civil protective order, in case things escalated". Things did not escalate.

As Tricia instructed earlier, "Let's please stick to the facts. To say he beat his wife is not true according to his wife."

"And I ran to the bathroom, he [ran] behind me and grabbed me by my arm," Vasquez Sura said. "I have marks on my left arm as well."

"At this point I am afraid to be close to him," Vasquez Sura added. "I have multiple photos/videos of how [violent] he can be."

Moo...this was 2021. Apparently they were mature enough to work through this situation and go to therapy. Then they still stayed as a couple and have a healthy relationship.
Well, that’s possible.

Given the serious Constitutional violations involved in this policy of shipping Americans to foreign prisons without due process, I’m not sure this particular case is “the hill I want to die on”. There are other valid cases that the media should focus on. JMO

The Trump administration keeps tossing fresh meat to MAGAs who gulp it down. But this de-escalated physical abuse has NOTHING to do with the fact that Mr Abrego García should not have been sent to El Salvador in the first place.

This is just propoganda spin because the govt has a weak case. Why do you think Bukele had one of his officials place Margarita-like drinks in front of the Senator and Garcia, with less in Garcia’s glass so if looks like he drank some? Why did Trump show a black and white photo of Garcia’s knuckle tattoos with MS13 written or photoshopped above them? Why are they desperately resorting to dishonest set-ups to assassinate his character? Why do they need to lie? They are running scared and throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks because they have no case. But the MAGAs on X/Twitter are eating if up. Gotta feed the beast, ya know. Edit: That way they’ll forget about due process and the economy.

Makes me wonder what he was doing driving eight others through Tennessee with no luggage. I thought in 2022 he was living with the wife in Maryland. The document below states he was driving on expired license and "transporting" people to work construction in MD from TX. All with NO luggage, definitely a red flag. Moo


 

This article really gets to the root of the issue - Kilmar Garcia was denied his right to due process and sent to a Salvadorian prison despite not being convicted of any crimes in the US or El Salvador. If we start letting this happen to undocumented immigrants, then what is stopping it from happening to any of us? IMO. Here's the most impactful statement in the article from Van Hollen:

“My whole point here is that if you deprive one man of his constitutional rights, you threaten the constitutional rights of everybody,” Van Hollen said later to the Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream. “I would hope that all of us would understand that principle – you’re a lawyer. I’m not vouching for the individual, I’m vouching for his rights.”

As I stated before, even the worst criminals and murderers receive due process and it's the foundation of our Constitution. Again, MOO.

If the people he was transporting did not want to work and he was selling them as slave labour. I can see that as a problem. But were they not allowed to travel on to work? That seems the story... stopped but..let go

And as I know you know so I’m preaching to the choir, no charges were filed and it has NOTHING to do with his right to due process before being whisked off to a hell-hole prison in El Salvador. It is a Trump propoganda distraction so we will decide Mr Abrego García deserves to be sent to the hell-hole. This is about rights, yes for Mr Abrego García and ultimately for all of us, no matter how messy our lives have been. The constitution guarantees due process in the 14th Amendment.

Of course there is. Not everyone is a chronic abuser. Even though there are still too many chronic abusers, Abrego Garcia is obviously not one of them.

Lots of people do really dumb things - I would imagine even more so when they spend their formative years in a violent country. Then some grow up and realise what they did was wrong, or go to counselling and realise what they did was wrong, or suffer some consequences and realise what they did was wrong.

It is irksome to know that his wife says the situation was resolved - long ago - and to hear others hang onto it for dear life.

There is no actual evidence that he is an MS-13 gang member. allegations are not proof, especially when he has not been charged with any crime nor does he have criminal convictions

due process is for all, denial of due process means the government have no case or an extremely weak case against him.
