As a massive dog lover im seeing conflicting info on Murphy's whereabouts when LE enters the house....was he found on the bed, as one report goes, or I've seen pics of Murphy huddled under a desk tucked behind a computer chair ...hope the AI picture freaks stay out this, and glad to hear Murphhhh is in good hands moving forward

I think he was found on the bed and early LE closed the door to keep him contained. When the door was later opened for processing, Murphy had moved to under the desk.

*sigh* I think we are going to see a lot of media like People, Nancy Grace, Jennifer Coffindaffer doing a lot of BK pieces in the next weeks and month....because they had all planned on there being a trial round about now (jury selection would be well underway by now and opening statements were scheduled to start on August 18). It was built into their scheduling/planning and now there's a big empty hole that has to be filled with puff pieces about BK with either dubious claims (like what's going on in prison) or retreads of old stuff.

At this point, about the only sources I'm going to believe for a while are going to be things that come directly from LE either through document releases or interviews and people like Kevin Fixler.

Yeah, they have been unnecessarily (IMO) stirring people up with silly ideas that he could be charged on a federal level and how he's conniving to appeal despite the plea agreement.

I agree with @Dotta. This is done. Anything about BK is not going to be very substantial.

Since KG had barely moved back home, and someone (presumably the felon because really who else?) had lured Murphy into the trees as recently as 11/04 iirc (right before KG returned to her parents' house?!), the felon might not have been aware she had left 1122. What was his plan? To find MM alone in her bed and murder her quietly and singularly? Or continue next to KG, in her bedroom? His target/s had to be MM or KG or MM and KG.


If he intended to murder more that one or those two, I would think he would have chosen a different order, to make sure he had no living obstacles, who could impede his exit. Have an escape plan, Criminal Handbook 101.

I wonder what his father thought when he packed up all his clothes and most belongings for what should have been a 2-3 week Christmas break. My kid is in college, though not a PhD student, but I’d be alarmed if he brought everything home and I expected him to have to take it all back shortly.

I wonder if BK was actually partially honest about losing his job and that's why his dad made the trip with him. His dad joining his adult son on a trip home for the holidays never made much sense. His dad going out to help him back everything up because he lost his job seems a bit more believable.

Maybe the felon learned how to manage and master his visual snow (if indeed he had it). If he carried an LED tactical flashlight, he may have used it to disable his victims, by blinding them with it.

Perhaps it was bright enough to flash under BF's door, although I wonder if the light she saw came from DD headlights.

His dad was pretty proud of his accomplishments during those traffic stops so I don't think his dad knew.

I'll bet they got earfuls about how incompetent his colleagues supervisors, and students were though.

I think Dad is an upright, honest guy. His son is not.

What I read was he was on the bed, but when LE went into Kaylee's room the dog hid under the desk.

I have been thinking that something of that sort probably happened. Adrenaline + blinded by either his own flashlight or possibly some sort of a light being on in Xana's room (she at least was awake) or even the Good Vibes sign or similar.

As for the light BF thought she saw, her bedroom was on the lowest floor, one floor below the living room and Xana's and D's rooms - most of the effects of any struggle should not have been visible to her. However, the stairs that go down are right next to Xana's room. On the right hand side, while the bathroom is on the left hand side before her room. Still, the stairwell also has a full-length barrier wall in the living room, that seems to be thigh-high.

On the lowest floor, both of the doors are right next to the stairs, one facing the going-up and the other facing the going-down direction. While it is possible that if any light was temporarily flashed in the downwards direction, it could have illuminated the floor behind her door, it grows increasingly unlikely, if the stairs are fully separated from the hallway with a wall - I am having a hard time finding actual photos of the hallway on the lowest floor. I am not 100% but I believe BF was in the room under the living room part, not under Xana's room. And after all, seeing "a flash" is the easiest thing to be mistaken about. When there is lightning i often go "was there a flash just now or did I just blink weirdly?" in my head.

Plus, on Saturday, November 12 (hours before the murders), Kaylee posted to her Instagram account the famous photo of her with her five roommates. The murderer may not have followed her IG account, but he surely kept a close eye on it if he was obsessed enough to plan her murder.

I'd swear that on one of the real estate/rental listings for the house there used to be a pic looking down the 1st floor hall to BF's room. However, we can sort of get a mental image from some of the crime scene photos

Here you have a pic looking up those 1st floor stairs to the living room. You can see there is a full wall on the inner side of those stairs. (I don't think this shows the bottom 3 or 4 stairs)

I would say that BF's door is about level with the 2nd or 3rd step down from the living room.

From bodycam footage of a police noise complaint visit, we know that those stairs end only a foot or so from the from the door.

That hall is long enough that it's going to be hard for any light to shine down it enough to be seen under BF's door that DM could have seen as well.

Nov 18 he registered the plates of the Elantra to Washington - where he’d need 2 plates. Not PA. It had been set to expire on Nov 30. ( DMV lady was also interviewed by LE. He wore gloves while he was speaking to her)

We covered this a while back but it's not easy to keep track of info in these threads

If he had intended to leave Washington, he could have updated the PA registration online. That's my logical answer but the change of registration may have been motivated by avoiding police attention. (That horse, however, was already out of the barn because LE would look for an out of state car from a rear plate only state as of the murder date or before. A change in registration from PA to WA would stand out in the crowd). Criminals forget that police can look at evidence across a time span, not just what pops up on a Google search. MOO
