I’m fat and anorexic, so it’s a thing

All of this not to defend BK, but only because autism and ED are part of this case. We are, of course, discussing actual afflictions that affect plenty of non-murderers. So, I want to explain some things about the complexities of eating while autistic.
So, I think a lot of us vacillate between different types of disordered eating habits. This is another reason why I generally say i have “disordered eating” or “history of ED” rather than listing anorexia, binge eating, & ARFID. Especially since, to the uninitiated, it would seem these shouldn’t coexist in the same goofy human. ::Sigh:: But alas, they do.
In autistic circles, we talk about our “same food” or “safe food.” This refers to a food item we are unusually drawn to for a period of time, sometimes years. Sometimes they come and go, or suddenly become unappealing.
I have had healthy-ish same foods (roasted red pepper tomato soup & grilled cheese, kind bars, babybel cheese, pineapple +strawberries) and unhealthy ones (Cajun chicken alfredo, skittles littles, smores crepes).
With ARFID (and being vegan) it could be that the foods he tolerates, has access to, or seeks out are not very healthy. If he has a school meal plan or can’t leave campus for lunch, he may have found few ‘acceptable’ vegan options.
So, looking at those photos, I think he may be wearing something under the shirt… Or he may have been doing some stress eating. He may be or sticking to one or two particularly high calorie/fat foods (and gaining some weight like most of us do when we first go off to college, his belated “freshman 15”).
