AT stated that she received "discovery" this week. Really? Wonder what came in this late? The DDD video?

<edited to fix capitalization for AT>
I'm replying to myself....lol

The state mentioned that the new discovery is the state interviewing Defense witnesses....IMO, makes sense that they would come in after the witnesses were identified.

Is it over?

Public part, yes. 10 minute break and then proceeding to the closed hearing about alternate suspects.

I wonder if, or how quickly we will hear how that portion of the hearing turns out?

Start to worry when YouTube - in place of normal court news - plays animal videos.

Not until there's an order, probably. Maybe next week.

Judge Hippler is wise beyond his years the ages.

Putting it all in writing. He gave AT at least two hearings on continuance plus how-many motions.

There is NOTHING unique to this particular high publicity case, nor anything new since she made all these same claims at the last hearing.

It's all on the record.

Where his order will sit with it.

I wager he's not budging.

Defense strategy is IMO not grounds for appeal. She has chosen this course of action. Didn't hire additional staff, didn't challenge the schedule 6 months ago.

Giddy up, AT. Rodeo's on.

I agree. I got the sense that absolutely nothing said by either side today changed anything in his mind at all. He may not have ruled at the hearing, but we will not have to wait long for his written order. He already knows what it will be...and basically told them. I bet we will have it in writing before EOD, Friday. JMO

He doesn't need to rule particularly fast, as he's already told the parties to proceed as if trial is on schedule. Some of his orders have been incredibly lengthy, and I expect the same for this one (it's going to be an appellate issue down the road).

That's why I'm thinking it'll be late next week.

...Thompson argued that pretrial publicity alone is not reason enough to delay the case.

"The question of whether Defendant can receive a fair trial is not answered by the amount of and the nature of pretrial publicity," he said. "Rather, it depends on whether a fair and impartial jury can be seated."

He said anyone influenced by the coverage, including the Dateline episode, will be screened out during jury selection."

Good point! He does put out lengthy, well thought-out opinions. He did say, though, that he will get an opinion out "in short order", so I guess we will get it when we get it. I am looking very forward to reading it, as I am sure, we all are!

Crushing blow? I hope it feels like one but it could hardly come as a surprise to AT.

Based on her arguments, no trial would ever be held. Endless continuance.

She knows that.

Just doing her job. She's probably at a happy hour now, if that's her thing, or chillaxing on her patio.

Forcing Judge Hippler to stretch some law muscles but he's up to the task. Nothing he hasn't seen before.

Her arguments aren't new, he might just repeat his prior answers.

It's like AT's motions are on a treadmill. Going nowhere fast, destined eventually to be abandoned to the corner, re-purposed as a clothes horse.

Over and done.

If this woman's claims about seeing BK at the King Road house, when she arrived to make a DD delivery, are even partly true, and I believe that they are, she may be the second most important witness in this case, and will surely be called to testify at trial. Having said that, I hope that the state spends a lot of time with her, preparing her for it. Based on the video we have seen of her now, from Sept, 2024, and learning some things about her, I fear that, if she is not well-prepped, and practiced, the defense will go after her with everything they can, in an effort to break her down, to cast her as a troubled, unreliable witness, with a history of driving while under the influence, who is either mistaken about what she saw, or lying. She is going to need all of the strength she can muster, to tell her truths about what she saw that morning. JMO
I feel so bad for this woman. We all have our demons and troubles in our lives, we all mess up and hopefully learn and grow from our mistakes... She didn't ask to be there that night when that ghoul stole the lives of four innocent people and their families. She didn't ask to be a witness in a multiple murder trial, and she most certainly didn't ask for some numpty with nothing but dollar signs and ego in their eyes to go slink the footage of a police interview and whack it all over YouTube 😞 I think the fact that all this time since the crime, this lady hasn't gone blabbing on social media/to mates/the press is important. Sure she will have been advised by LE to keep hush, but I think it speaks a lot on her behalf. You're right, the poor lass is gonna have a tough time when/if she comes toe to toe with AT who's frothing at the bit for even the tiniest of a win.

I hate it and, I hate that this selfish abohrant nasty little waste of oxygen has ruined so many people's lives.

So I hope we’ll be getting the judge’s rulings on the sealed part of the hearing soon too.
