It is Filby's fault that the money needs to be spent.
Not that he cares about that, having likely accepted govt payments (tax payer money) for years while railing against the govt.

Bombshell revelations about Dezi cop killings​

“Bombshell new details have emerged of the moment Dezi Freeman escaped and the tragic final moments of two police officers he shot dead.

The Australian has reported an eyewitness account allegedly recorded by Freeman’s middle child that revealed how it all went down on the Freeman’s family’s Hino bus on August 26.

“We have a search warrant,’’ an officer shouts, referring to an alleged child sex offence.

“Can you please not barge in? I have a kid, please,” Freeman’s wife, Amalia – or “Mali” – pleads as cops tell Freeman, 56, to come out.

The recording shows they used a crowbar to try to force their way in as Freeman yells at police to stop.

Three family members, including a young child, are trapped in the bus as the shouting ensues for close to 30 minutes.

In a final act, Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, throws his body, feet-first, into the upper part of the door.

He is shot dead along with his colleague Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart, 35.

Freeman also points a homemade shotgun at a fourth officer, but the weapon misfires.

His family scatter after a third officer is hit. They are shaken up but ultimately make it to Porepunkah after being picked up near the orchard.

The third officer cowers, wounded, under the bus, as the remaining seven police scan the scene.

Freeman escapes carrying a police handgun, and possibly two other weapons including a makeshift shotgun.”

I agree. However if Filby got away in the early days, it appears that police did not have this Intel and searched and searched all leading to zero. It's sad they have come up with nothing. And all the time people in the area had lost money from their businesses. I don't really understand why they kept searching and kept the park locked when there doesn't appear that there was any evidence of Filby.

I imagine that they had to do all the searching they could to be confidant in the decision to re-open the park ( just like they did the intensive search around the property with the help of NZ operatives ) before they re-opened up Porepunkah businesses etc

Could you imagine if they just stopped searching, after say a few weeks & than the next week a family happened to stumble across Filby in the park & he killed them all. He remains very dangerous ( if alive obviously ) & has nothing to lose. Imagine the headlines blaming the cops.

The Police has so much to weigh up with every decision they make. I'd hate to be the one making those calls

The cowardly cop killer was dead the first weekend after the incident either exposure or self-inflicted. The cookers myth about being some superior bushman is bong . Everything about this vile is manufactured BS to help the cooker grift.
