 Just adding my thanks to all WSers! - Love WSers! - Hate this case!

* * *

For those who are able to stomach continued close following of this case, could I kindly ask for someone or some to post a "daily wrap-up" post, including doc/court links if possible, and note the post number in the "Tags for this Thread" located near the bottom of each page. Thanks a million as my tolerance to this case is near an end.

Note - To add a Tag: near the bottom of the page; press "Add/Edit Tags"; in the "Add Tags" text box type, example "[date] daily wrap-up #____" including the post number in the underlined part; then click "Save Tag". Tags you make can be edited or deleted by you.

Jodi is the one who asked for a public trial by jury. She is the one who changed her stories a number of times. A jury convicted her of 1st degree murder, extreme cruelty. So why would the court just suddenly change the rules because defense claims witnesses will not testify in public out of fear of threats, but then agrees to releasing their statements later. Threats would not be further diminished by waiting until after the trial. They would still get threats so this makes no sense. jmo

Exactly! This is even what one of the COA judges said to Nurmi. I just do.not.get. why he is filing a brief when the COA made it clear how they will rule?

My take on KN causing this problem is his tactic of questioning the secret witness
(JA). KN asks her everything that she wants the court to know in depth, knowing JM will
Get to do cross. He knew media would fight it so he counted on the ruckas. When weds. comes he will just say my withness refuses to continue and she walks off the stand. JM doesn't get to do his cross and she has won her side of the story getting out. Even if they strike all her incomplete testamony the jury heard it and will have to try to forget it.
Does that theory make sense to anyone?
I am not wanting to walk away from this trial till TA gets justice although it is hard
Listening to the defenses craziness. I feel so bad for Travis whole family to have to deal with his killer for so many years after they lost their wonderful brother.

I have been feeling like we have been neglecting the tags in this case as well. I have no problem adding post numbers in the tags for a quick reference - but keep in mind that if MODS delete posts - those post numbers in the tags may be off a number or 2.

Okie Dokie thanks Miss MeeBee :tyou:
I'm a trifle computer compromised lol.
I'm going to try to learn how to copy and paste videos from YouTube to this board.
Since Azcentral has the information and it's already been posted, I'll wait for another opportunity to teach my sorry old self.

I'm still trying to learn too! I can post the link but I can't figure out how to embed the video.

This could be the emergent public petition we were celebrating Monday.

Judge Stephens was seeming strange yesterday. Several people have mentioned this. She did not meet anyone's eyes except at the bench conference (as she called it). I firmly believe she was embarrassed at having allowed the 'secret witness' testimony and then been shot down on it by the COA. I believe she is not accustomed to having her decisions questioned or shot down.

Early on in the first trial I noticed Judge Stephens rapid blinking at times. There were and are several times when you can notice a slight shaking or bobbing of her head. In my senior moment I cannot remember what Michael J. Fox is on medication for, but I believe Judge Stephens has that same thing. Just an observation on my part and I might be FOS.

Judge Stephens apparently had agreed to let the defense have 'secret witness testimony' and did not think it would come back and bite her in the butt, but it has. I think she is too indecisive and has a problem saying NO to the defense.

I want to walk away from this FUBAR case but I just can't. I want to understand this dilemma and I can't. I want to respect Judge Stephens, but I can't. This case is certainly one for the books, IMO.

Some of you commented on JSS facial expressions and non-verbal cues when she was listening to JM speak during the court hearing yesterday. When I was watching I noticed she was responding to every time JM said something about COA giving a ruling that the DT didn't like.

Renee100, her body language spoke volumes. I felt incredibly sorry for her. She seemed almost hurt. Strange word, I know, but I think she has done everything possible to ensure a fair trial for the defendant. She has been criticised extensively for the painstaking efforts applied and now she gets unfairly thrown under the bus too. No surprise there but it must sting being under COA scrutiny. Perhaps she is injured by the challenge to her authority, in such a public way? I was interested to observe the COA judges on camera. They all sounded extremely nervous. Judge Sherry Stephens has been remarkably calm and eloquent throughout. She has seemed knowledgeable and aware - on top of everyday matters. I'd love to hear Juan Martinez' and Travis' familiy on JSS. What do they think of her?

Thrown under the bus is a bit strong, IMO. In either case, it was not unfair, in fact it was just the opposite.

As much as we feel like we would like to do something to help hasten justice for Travis, I beg my fellow Websleuths members to please reconsider engaging in any kind of direct online interference with the judge or the attorneys, at least until after the verdict. This is exactly what Mr. Nurmi is arguing has been an ongoing problem. Please, this is not the solution.

Didn't the woman judge at
COA state that the secret testimony would be released to the media within a day or two?

I don't think thats allowed. If she refuses to continue testifying then the judge would order her to answer questions on cross from Juan Martinez about anything she has testified to so far

:seeya: Agree !

However, I do hope that JSS's recent rulings and lack of effort to move this trial forward for Travis and the Alexander Family, are looked into by not only the appellate courts with the pending action, but also looked into by the hierarchy in the State of Arizona who monitors judges.

And here it is. While I do NOT think it's worth sealing off courtrooms, people DO get too involved, think they are a part of the trial just because it's public. They DO harass people thinking they're in the right. Probably people calling in right now trying to get the judge removed. Stop messing with people's livelihood. It's just a change.org position so it's whatever. But we are just outsiders. We are bystanders. A judicial review of JSS? Why?!?

I don't understand it either. Did people watch the same video I watched? The judge stated that court would continue and gave Nurmi a couple of days to get his ***** together and adjust to the change. End of story. This trial is Arizona's business, not the business of people who bemoan a couple of days without entertainment.

Agree. I'm over the idea that she's in bed with the defense. She is just doing what she feels is right. She got a sturdy reminder the other day that she doesn't have to go SO far in getting the defendant a fair trial and I'm sure she gets that now. Nothing else needs to be done. Let clearer heads prevail. If she was so biased, she'd have done a lot more to make sure Jodi won. It's absurd.

Is #JodiArias WRIST BRACE setting up being "intimidated" to justify secret hearing?

Look at her at court yesterday. http://fb.me/3VCFg614R
