Can you imagine being JSS's child?

"You are in trouble - go to your room, wait . . . come here and let's talk about it but we can never let anyone know what we said . . . wait . . . you say you have a playdate tonight . . . ok . . . you can come and talk to me in secret next Wednesday about whether or not you were in trouble and then if so we will have a COA decision on whether or not you will go to your room. The COA decision is scheduled in a month . . . so go and play and I might talk to you again in a month but it will be a secret just between us and if you get in trouble again I might remember that I said this."

Arias slaughtered Travis, mocks his family, threatens the prosecutor and his witnesses, blames the media for the delays and now spits on the Constitution. What does the Judge do in response? Coddles her!

Its so true. Why in the world didnt the judge demand before the trial started that both attorneys have ALL their witnesses ready to go so that if there is any issues with a single one of them, then another would be called instead?

Is that too much to ask ?

This is just ridiculous and its no wonder this trial has taken so long. I put the blame squarely on the judge in allowing all these games to be played by the DT.
WAKE UP.....Nurmi is getting paid by the hour and there is an incentive for him to drag this out. WAKE UP

Jodi threatened state witnesses? How did I miss that tidbit?? Or am I just too sleep deprived and misunderstood that.

Just got done with todays boring mtgs and see I missed another dustup-my darn job.

So, WTH is Nurmi arguing? The CT yesterday pretty much said in an impersonal judicial way that secret witness testimony wasn't gonna be happening so everyone should get on board with the lesser restriction or continue the trial witout using the witness the DT wants until the CT gets around to hearing the case on the merits which, to me, they pretty much indicated wasn't necessary as the Judge should just do what she planned to do in the first order about the overflow room for the media. If I was the DT I'd get on board before the Appeals CT got involved and perhaps issues an order granting greater access than they'll get from JS.

Seriously, the Order was pretty much telegraphing to anyone with rudimentary comprehension skills that the DT would not prevail. The CT wouldn't stay the Judges order if there was any reasonable chance they were going to end up permitting secret testimony. Or did I miss something????

You know what? Wasn't today's hearing supposed to be about further clarification of yesterday's "decision"? Was that even addressed?

I worry that JSS is bringing the jury in tomorrow to discuss extending the trial into January.

Hey LisaC! Welcome to WS . . . glad you are here with us!

What's the local coverage of this I wonder, are they focusing on JSS complete ineptitude abnd probable impartiality?

Not much local coverage that I could find of what just happened ...

JMO but I think today's election is taking precedence of Jodi Arias ... hopefully after the election, they will tackle JSS and Jodi !

So court is on again on monday?

Then why not finish trial? Why does he need the month of January?

I don't think he needs January. He is just blowing smoke. IMO

During the last penalty phase I don't recall the defense having that many witnesses. I really think he just wants a mistrial, and force the judge to sentence her. :twocents: It's a win for the defense if she doesn't get death.

Perhaps it's his attempt (in a covert sort of way-lol) to strong-arm the Prosecution into accepting a deal for Life. Let's face it, he's wearing all of us down...can you imagine how those directly involved must feel?

Furious. I am and would be furious and more determined than ever to see that b-ch put on death row. She demonstrates more with every passing day that's the only place where she belongs.

If I lived in AZ I would start campaigning tonight to deny JSS another round of destroying the credibility of that bench.

There were some rumours on facebook. Sorry I don't remember too much.

The jurors were told Dec 18th. How many will run when they find out it could be the end of January? Mistrial is around the corner.

I thought the same thing yesterday based on his comments about how length of trials and delays lead to loosing jurors and mentioning only having 6 extra. To him getting a mistrial for any reason even if it's because there aren't enough alternates is a win for him.

She is not coddling her. She is making sure there is nothing that she can appeal on after this is finished that is valid other than automatic appeals and it that she has done a good job. She is erring on the side of making sure JA rights are not trampled on so she can not come back and have a good basis for appeal that might reverse a DP verdict.

And as much as Nurmi annoys me he is zealously fighting for his client.

AS much as I want this over, I want it over right. I think that is what COA is for so that while the trial is going on there is a higher court who can figure out that minutia to make sure all basis are covered and you move on.

Scarlett, you know I always appreciate your quotes, but this is one time I totally disagree with you. I am literally sick to see another WS member defending this judge yet another time. JSS is not a good judge, can't make good decisions and has bent over backwards for this killer. And you can say Nurmi is fighting for his client. I say he is fighting to salvage his reputation. I think the appeals court agrees.

I am so far behind...can anyone give the short and sweet of it and bring me up to speed? People in Dallas can't drive when it rains

Yet, he says the trial is going until January. Makes.no.sense.

I wonder how many jurors will bail if confronted with the "trial is going to January" information. This is outrageous, Nurmi and the killer will be getting just what they want. :banghead:

I think that's a real possibility that's what she will do. If that's what she does I'm sure they will loose some jurors. How many I don't know. What a giant mess.

I wish Stephens would just be a real judge and take command.

BBM: Respectfully disagree ... JSS has been "coddling" CMJA and her defense team since day 1 of the Trial !

And as to an appeal: JSS just got hit with an appeal and did NOT even know what the Appellate Court's Order meant !

JMO but CMJA WILL APPEAL no matter what !

Blaming it on "CMJA will appeal" is getting is OLD ... and NOT an excuse for JSS's incompetency on the bench !

JMO and :moo:

Azl
I don't suppose you could suggest that to him?

This is so very wrong...to the jury, to the family, to the state of Arizona, to the public.
I feel like something very sneaky is going on behind the scenes...I don't trust the judge, I don't
trust Nurmi, or Wilmot, I can't wait till Jodi goes to hell...
This star chamber really has formed right here in AZ....No joke.
