Nurmi and the forgotten Wilmott have had SIX years to find mitigating witnesses. Geez.
They need time to replan there strategy, because "order" of witnesses is out of order, and from JSS' tone, it really sounds like a secret witness.

And, what are they going to do in court for the rest of the week? Are the jurors back tomorrow?

Can Nurmi be charged with Obstruction of Justice?

Maybe not Obstruction, but how about JSS ordering Nurmi to go forward with the defense case or face contempt of court for not following a judicial order? What the h3ll is wrong with JSS?

*I'm just now catching up. I am beyond disgusted and anger is not even an adequate word to describe how I feel about this whole pile of BS!

IME, comorbid Cluster B personality disordered people wouldn't see the situation quite like 'normal' people do. She's quite likely to fervently believe she will beat the DP, society at large will see the victim she so clearly is, and her 'wrongful' conviction will be overturned on appeal because she murdered Travis in self-defense.

I'd be absolutely gutted if I were incarcerated. The loss of freedom scares the hell out of me. But for someone like Arias, it's viewed as a temporary situation, easily adaptable. The high-profile nature of this case feeds her narcissism and her belief that she's a lot more important than she really is. IMO, she absolutely believes - to the core of her being - she will one day be free. In the meantime, she will continue to manipulate where and when she can, to include Travis' family, because it's fun to her. She feels like a mastermind, the queen of the chessboard, and all us lowly humans (to include attorneys, judge, family, friends, supporters, etc.) are just merely her pawns. Other people are her playthings - she'll engineer and manipulate situations just to get the result she desires.

So yes, she believes she will win. We know better. ;)

JMO and FWIW

ETA: Something rather scary to bear in mind when it comes to figuring out Arias...she feels justified in taking Travis' life. In her world, she really isn't guilty, because he deserved it. IMO

I just love your posts and insight and they can't be repeated enough. For the butcher, this is a dream come true. The fact that Nurmi and Wilmott play into it serves her grandiosity (and theirs). Even the drama of disliking each other, the emotional whirlwind, serves the purposes of all concerned, in a really toxic, manipulative mix.

I don't suppose you could suggest that to him?

This is so very wrong...to the jury, to the family, to the state of Arizona, to the public.
I feel like something very sneaky is going on behind the scenes...I don't trust the judge, I don't
trust Nurmi, or Wilmot, I can't wait till Jodi goes to hell...
This star chamber really has formed right here in AZ....No joke.

Yes, I'm really starting to wonder and worry what has gone on in these secret meetings. I am afraid that Jodi might really have a good chance at a retrial, and frankly, as much as I think she is the Devil Incarnate and her name should be a feminine version of Damien, I almost think she might deserve it. I believe in our country and constitution and that no matter who you are you deserve a legitimate defense. Just two weeks ago I would have shrugged off anyone saying she hasn't received a good defense, but now I wonder. I'm disgusted at the theatrics and silly immature behavior but more concerned at why so much stuff was hidden. If this stuff was heard, what would other lawyers say? Would there be as crazy stuff going on behind the door that was going on in public? By other lawyers and experts not being able to hear this stuff, there is no-one to make sure that what is decided and ruled on is fair and just. Hell, if I were Jody I would want to hear other opinions to make sure it was all the way it should be. I wouldn't let one doctor tell me I had cancer and there was only 30 days to live without going to at least two more doctors. The other doctors may have knowledge of something that mine didn't. At least when it's public, it is accountable. When it's private it's not. Like I said, just 2 weeks ago I was singing JSS's praises and believing she was just trying to make sure that it was fair and no chance to appeal. After she did what she did last week, I don't think that anymore. I don't feel sorry for JA, and I do believe she deserves the DP, but I still disagree with what is going on here. I've put on my flame retardant suit and hope I don't catch on fire.

Yes, keeping a client (any client) off death row is a 'win' for a defense attorney, especially when your client is guilty of first degree murder and you knew that's what a jury would decide when the time came, as I believe Nurmi & Wilcott knew. The only thing they can do is try to advocate to the jury to spare her life. It will not surprise me if the jury either gives her LWOP or is unable to come to a unanimous decision but I hope they do decide something unanimously as I think that would be the best outcome. Sentencing someone to death is the most important and perhaps most difficult decision one can make.

I, on the other hand, believe, given the energy they gave to shenanigans, that the DT were brought low by the initial verdict and they still haven't gotten over it. They LOST.

It's not going to go into January. That is just smoke.. I think that it will be close to what they were told.

So why would they say otherwise? I don't get it.

If next monday and tuesday were already off the schedule, and the court is always off on fridays, the judge only gave Nurmi 3 days, today, tomorrow and thursday, correct? t

No, she gave him a week knowing full well the days off. How convenient.

I don't think this latest hubbub is about that part. Nurmi is trying to shut the media out so the public can't criticize him or his client. He isn't really doing his job at this point. He's throwing a very public temper tantrum. The media's presence has nothing to so with his saving his client's life. He seems quite a bit more preoccupied with twitter these days.

Oh, YES, that's what it looks like to me as well! It fits with reports of how he is on his phone during the trial. I'm also still bothered by the fact that Wilmott corrected WAT about the colour she was wearing- not coral but fuchsia. WTH?

We talk about restricting media but it seems to me that media are not restricted for the DT.

It actually looks like the DT is battling public opinion at every turn as if it actually has an influence on ...well, whom? The jury is restricted from social media and any media, so I really, really don't get what the DT is protecting other than their reputations and vanity.

Person from California? Maybe it's somene new? Its seems the order is Jodi testifying first, then the others, makes me wonder who this witness from CA could be.

I still think the witness from CA is Mr. Vernon Parker. He was TA's and Deanna Reeves' Mormon bishop in Riverside.

I feel your pain! Maybe we need a gag order for JSS!

I thought that too but then I remembered the state is the one who is calling him. I think it's aunt Sue, her sister or someone else from Jodi's past like Patti or Darryl Brewer.

If it's any consolation, CMJA gets to stay in a little cell, smaller than Travis's closet, with that debasing toilet-sink combination thingy for 6 days straight. Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, & Tue.

  • #598
Oh, WOW. So she's now the 'bird with the broken wing'?

How convenient.

Is this the very same hand with the crooked finger of death?

Just getting home and kind of happy to see that I am not the only one disgusted by all of this....I really want to know what happened to Jodi's hand...did she punch something in anger over the loss yesterday in the higher court? Hmmmm ?
Anyway....what a cluster....
Praying for the Alexander family ....
