Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias - 12/19-1/5 Break

Hope I am in Texas for the holidays and just read this post. So here is my dilemma. Chris Hughes supposedly has a wealth of information about Jodi just like your post above and yet JM will not call him as a witness. This is beyond d strange to me. Something is either not right with the Hughes or with the witness list JM is using. What gives?

I agree there is something weird there. Aside form them deciding they would rather go on the talk show circuit than ZIP-IT, so Juan could use them in great detail...I have no idea.

Lord knows Nurmi wanted them excluded, at ALL costs.

I agree. No way would Travis have voluntarily sat down with Arias cornering him like that. She ordered him to sit down. This is why she needed a gun--the great equalizer. What can you do if someone with a gun orders you to sit down?She had to have had a gun pointed at him for him to, against all instinct and common sense, agree to sit down and be more vulnerable. How was she able to switch weapons and stab him first? The gun shot was last. I wonder how he managed to get out of the shower stall while she barely had a finger cut. Did she leave the bathroom for a few moments only to return and find him at the sink? And, also, it's puzzling that this entire scenario took place in two minutes. The only thing I know for sure is that she murdered him three times over on June 4, 2008. The rest of the details of that day are still murky.

I have always thought that that JA had the camera on the strap around her neck. With her lunging quickly and struggling with TA the camera could have easily swung around on her shoulder and taken those unintentional pictures. I was quite surprised to see just how small that shower area really was. She obviously had him cornered. I don't know if she held her stolen gun on him or her handy tire slashing knife. I just cannot see Travis or any man just sitting down in that tiny shower because JA "asked" him to.


This particular case has haunted me for so many reasons. Had we all known that part 2 of this trial would get so much uglier and drawn out, I think we all including the **Alexander family** would have rather had her sentenced last year to LWOP. And Jodi Anus Arias would have been in Perryville for almost a year.

** I am not speaking for the Alexander family, those are my words, and my thoughts only.

Another thing that really bothers me is that JA will probably get LWOP anyway. And all this victim trashing AGAIN will be all for nothing :frown:

It is possible he attempted to humor her and sat at her command when she showed the gun. Maybe he tried to plead with her, to reason with her, to remind her they were friends and they could work this out, or some such thing. And maybe she turned away for a millisecond to go from gun to knife, and that's when he was able to make an escape. All I know is when I look at evidence photos I cannot see that he was seated, crawling or even on his knees when at the sink. He made it there somehow, maybe while being attacked the whole way. But he didn't have only superficial wounds at the sink--there was blood spray so he had a serious wound while standing there. He could have sustained it prior or as he stood there although that would be more difficult to believe since she would have been coming at his back or his side, not facing his chest.

I think he did drop to his knees and crawl away after the sink. She stabbed him in the back and head, then got the better of him and he could not resist anymore once he could no longer feels his legs, and we know what happened next.

I guess we would all like to understand, though probably never will really know, what all happened. Likely the level of evil Killer Arias possesses is what accounted for her ability to butcher a man who was totally conscious and aware of what was going on and walk away with no more than a cut finger. It is difficult to grasp that such evil exists in our society--but clearly it does.

I always thought that if Jodi did play that card and Travis married her, she'd miscarriage soon afterwards. Jodi wanted a life of traveling and fun. She wouldn't want no stinking baby getting time, money and attention from Travis.

Bernina, I am also in the "what if" mode. It is not totally out of the question, imo. It's just weird that she would make any reference to a stun gun. I know she is a liar and even lied to her journals but don't all liars intertwine bits of truth? Even the totally delusional Casey Anthony sprinkled bits of truth here and there.

Was any stun gun found in any of her things? Not at her grandparents house, not in her storage place. Not in the boxes of books and knives in the car she was leaving in to take a trip with six men she didn't know. Wouldn't a stun gun deter someone that wanted to attack you when you're out panning for gold? Instead of shooting to kill again?. It could be buried with the gun and knife in the desert. But from her written word we know she had one in February 2008.

I looked up the temperature for that day and it was 94 degrees. On the 3rd of June it was 98! So the house was clearly closed up with the air conditioner running. JA made sure that Naps (who was a small dog) was gated downstairs. Plus that time of day most people are still at work, or heading home. TA had a good size home, and he rented out two bedrooms upstairs down the hall and on the other side from his. She got real lucky (or they got lucky) that neither one came home from work while she was viciously killing him. From what I can gather is that both men were simply renters, and not particularly close friends of his. When they came home they simply assumed TA was gone on his trip. They did notice it was odd that Napoleon was downstairs with a gate across the stairs. They said Nap always had the run of the house.

They left him gated downstairs because they just figured that what Travis had wanted. :frown:
I literally tear up when I think about that little dog. I'm sure JA gave him a big kick to keep him out of her way while she threw the stuff in the washer. Dogs have such a keen sense of smell, and he knew Travis was upstairs...poor little guy could not get up the steps. He surely would have went to up to TA's door and barked and scratched (as my dog does if my door is shut) and possibly even alerted the roommates much sooner. Travis loved that dog so much he even made him a Facebook page.

Yes, I'm reading backwards...again. I think she's come close to what and how it happened in the ninja story. Travis screaming and on his knees (and here I think of the loud noise and maybe a gunshot first, and he got out and and she stabbed him in the back, and he made it to the sink.) I think several of the wounds were from her slashing at him causing the ones on his groin area and his hands trying to stop her. The man ninja standing at the end of the bathroom hall next to the carpet. The place she slit his throat. Watch her again in the interrogation and her moves, she tells a lot more than she thinks.

IIRC Jodi said they used Travis's camera because her's was pack in her car.

I'm re-reading Arias' email to Travis that was sent on May 16th, 2008. I don't know what her specific motive (besides tormenting Travis with her drama) was in writing that considering that she had already recorded the sex-tape for blackmailing purposes.

Anyway, this email is full of passive aggressive, hyperdramatic, reverse psychology BS. Some examples:

"I know the tone of an email or text message can sometimes be ambiguous since the receiver is only interpreting what the tone of the sender would be if it were spoken, so please know that the spirit in which I send this is that of love, camaraderie and (?) (friendship)." --- Arias herself admits that the tone of an email can be unclear, contrary to ALV's testimony. Arias claims to send it with love and friendship...six days after recording the sex tape call and only a few weeks before the murder.


"You may be asking yourself why then the lengthy email detailing all of this if that is in fact the case? Well it’s good thing this is in “writing” because if that is your question it has already been answered in the first paragraph of this email. Refer back to it if you wish." --- She wants Travis to read her letter as though it were a freakin' research paper. Study this, refer back to that, etc. How exhausting.

"But when you have to censor our friendship for fear of the criticism you will receive as a result of it, then it becomes awkwardly and embarrassingly apparent that something is not right, especially when all it is, is a friendship. A friendship. We’re not secret lovers. It’s a friendship."--- She herself says it was only a friendship contradictory to the long drawn-out Romeo and Juliet' type relationship the Defense is now claiming they had shared.

"I am proud to call you my friend. I even brag about you to whoever will listen to promote you, speak highly of you and give you all of the accolades you’ve ever deserved any chance I get. I’ve never had to hide our friendship from anyone. Never, I would publish it in major newspapers nationwide and broadcast it on syndicated radio and national television."--- She's proud to call Travis---the "pedophile"---a friend and would brag about him? And, what a weird thing to say about publishing it on national television. Why would the public care to know about the status of their friendship? Travis' stress levels must have been teetering quite a bit that month.



"So I’m going to be proactive and remove myself from the list of people you have to worry about pleasing. Still friends? Of course, silly! We’re not about to dissolve a friendship that was firmly formed almost 2 years ago (likely long before that in the grander scheme of things aka The Pre-Existence). But here I am with the proverbial scissors cutting the proverbial strings of our friendship." --- 'Yes, we're friends but no we're not...hello...goodbye...hello...' what kind of mind game was she playing? Did she expect that Travis would sacrifice his other friendships for her? Did she expect him to come running into her arms proclaiming that she is first and foremost in his life?

She couldn't just accept that Travis didn't give her a big round of applause for her help with editing the book. Perhaps Arias is the one that begged to be a part of his work and Travis threw her a bone by saying 'okay, you can correct that mistake you see.' She couldn't get over it though. She had to write a long mail wasting Travis' time with her petty melodramatic carp.

Man, I need a nap. Reading her mails is exhausting.

One other was the Bishop's wife, and another was a forensic documents expert for the state (presumably to testify about the forged pedo letters and/or journal entries). I believe there was one other who was another friend of Travis, or the ex roommate maybe?

Dr. Jill Hayes. She was the last witness in the guilt phase in the sur rebuttal after Dr. Horn. Long blonde hair. and impeccable credentials. She laid it out plain and simple. I'll always remember (and laugh) when Nurim said the defense rests and no one was really listening to him. I can't remember if it was in the first part or the sur- rebuttal.

If IRCC Geffner also testified that Dr. Horn was wrong in his autopsy report about the bullet track. That it had to come first and how that would of affected the brain?

Willmott is asking Hayes why DeMarte gave Arias a reading comprehensive test to Arias. Hayes said the test takes five minutes to administer, and if DeMarte had not given the test to Arias she would have been criticized about it.

Dr. Hayes says Jodi has an reading level at twelfth grade.

IF she ever had a stun gun and IF she used at on murder day, it rests with the other weapons. In the desert, or tossed in at Hoover Dam, wherever she disposed of evidence.

I do not fall into the trap of believing something just because Jodi journaled about it. She could not speak without inserting a lie even to herself. But I will not completely discount that she had other weapons with her besides her knife and gun. She may not even have used all weapons that were available to her but I bet she disposed of all of them.

And then proceeded to procure some new ones.

Per the suspicious journals, my hinky metre went off the first time I saw excerpts on Nancy Grace. Remember those never ending nightly 'bombshell' episodes on JA? I've always felt that on her return to Cal. she took her original 2008 journal and edited it into a new one, to be read just in case she was ever caught. I don't think she had thoughts then of DV or pedo, but was intent on making Travis appear 'mean', both for spite, and to make it appear that she had broken away from him for good. Maybe great chunks were considered too prejudicial to be introduced by Juan, but IIRC we never heard mention of entries when she first met Travis; nor of her preparing for the 'trip'. Both of those times would have been very important for her to note.

You have read my mind. She is so darned conniving that you just know she planned these so called "journals" in advance for public consumption.

And you are so spot on about the fact that had these been "true" journals, they would have had more pertinent entries. In CMJA's strange working mind, she said more with what she didn't write than she did with what she chose to write down. I'm sure JM has made lots of good notes.

But it's from her Re-written words. Words she carefully sculpted after the murder. She's afraid the tire slashing could come back on her via Lisa. Jodi, with a knife! So she writes about it. Complete with a scene where she's "helping" Travis. It's nonsense. She lies whether orally or in writing.

Were Arias and Travis ever official? I doubt it. She herself tells Abe in an email (February 18, 2007) that she is NOT in a committed relationship with Travis and that she is not Travis' girlfriend.


This was the email Jodi allegedly received from her stalker.... "Jodi you are so amazing and you are so beautiful. And you are such an incredible artist and you are so talented. What a wonderful photographer you are and I've been watching you. And I've been following you. And, Travis doesn't deserve you. Travis is an idiot. Travis doesn't know how wonderful you are. Travis takes you for granted and Travis can't protect you all the way over there in Arizona. I've been watching you and Travis can't protect you. And, I will have you. Travis' tires were slashed on 12-05-2007. And according to this website "Jodi calls Travis. Travis tells Jodi about the tires. JA offers to take TA to the mechanic and does. She follows him onto the freeway after the repair. Travis gets off at the exit to go to Lisa. JA calls him to tell him he got off at the wrong exit.
