Are we putting too much emphasis on the medical call for help? Do we know what was said on the 911 call....maybe the person calling was in a panic and didn't relay the true situation accurately? Or maybe the person calling only noticed the heart attack victim and not the others until later?

IDK.

We need an accurate timeline, 911 call info, etc. Seems like this LE might be the tight-lipped type.

I think someone else mentioned this, but my thought was that the caller came across a "person down" and the first impression, which they mentioned on the call, was a heart attack, even though maybe it really wasn't that but homicide?

-if the victims were shot or stabbed, I would think that crime scene investigation would take longer than a few days, not to mention clean-up. Carpets would have to removed, etc. Poison is not messy.

I'm picturing that many of this company's employees are working on various jobsites doing property maintenance etc. They could still do their jobs even though their office "home base" was in disarray. Kind of like when I worked for the US Forest Service. Lots of our actual work was done out in the woods, so a power outage or what have you "problem" back at the office did not interfere with the work at all, except for checking in/out at the beginning/end of the day, and administrative stuff like time sheets...

When I first heard this story, I wondered if they had experienced carbon monoxide poisoning or some other legitimately accidental cause of death, but I get the impression that LE knows exactly who did it but doesn't have enough evidence to make an arrest, or doesn't know where they are.

IMO and in my area, it is very common to mail rent payment or use drop box, really no reason to see office personnel.
I think the office will be open in the sense someone will process mail, post payments & schedule mtn., I doubt the doors will be unlocked & open to the public.

In which case I think the killer is likely to be close to home - a co-worker or disgruntled ex employee since access would be key. Unless someone was laying in wait to come in at the same time as the employees arriving. And given the low number of reported vehicles arriving I think car pooling is very likely (we'd assume the married couple came together wouldn't we?). We have no way of knowing that the person arriving then left in the company truck - thats just supposition at this stage.

I'm still thinking knife, gun or cosh as the most likely way to commit this horrible crime. I think if it was poison it would be hard to detect quickly - and to ascertain the source (sufficient to clear the place for work so quickly). And it seems an inexact way to kill someone in an office setting. I can understand how someone could poison their wife or husband but in an office it seems very hit and miss - in the coffee or cake.. how do you know who will consume what? And I presume if it was carbon monoxide or other gases it would be hard for police to say with such certainty and speed it was a homicide.

Its a very perplexing mystery and very sad for the famillies.

"This was very specific to the victims that were involved," the chief said.

'We just don't have answers': Mystery surrounds killing of 4 people at North Dakota business

....

Surveillance video from a nearby business showed only a couple of vehicles on the road since 10 o’clock last night.

"Multiple Homicide" Inside Mandan Property Management Building - KVRR Local News

RJR's website identified it as a family-owned company that has been handling commercial and residential properties in Bismarck and Mandan for more than 20 years. Its services include collecting rent for landlords, paying mortgages, re-renting apartments, building and grounds maintenance, lawn care, and snow removal. It also rents out storage units.

A "Meet Our Team" feature on the website pictured 22 employees.

Police: Business owner, 3 employees killed in Mandan shooting; no suspect yet in custody
BBM

Wild speculation here.... Trying to guess why the crime scene points to those 4 victims being targeted, and not likely any one else...

If the business rents out storage units, maybe each employee has their own storage unit too. Were the victims found killed next to their own storage? It might be a routine for them to go to their storage first thing in their shift.

I know this sounds really weird, but it may also be why police is left searching for motive. Suspect could be an insider, but who?

The official FB page of the business allows clients/customers to leave reviews. Most are positive and thankful in nature. There are a couple that have some complaints and the authors appear to have become somewhat nasty in their comments. The business reached out to them in each case. One in particular was curious, because even though the person gave a horrible review, when business reached out to them they were unable to find the person listed anywhere as a client. Not necessarily related to what happened on Monday and not unusual for there to be mixed reviews of any product/service. However, since disgruntled renters have been mentioned as possible suspects, it seems extra strange to me that a review would be posted by someone who did not do business with the company. JMO

Robert & Jackie Fakler: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

The manager of a nearby bowling alley, Darin Helbling, told the AP that the police had come to him to ask to see his outside surveillance videos. One report says that Helbling’s surveillance video shows a truck pulling into the RJR parking lot at around 7 a.m. Four minutes later, an RJR company truck pulled out of the business.

No other cars pull into the building until the police showed up at 7:30 a.m., according to the AP’s report on the video.

Do RJR Company Trucks have GPS Tracking?
Four minutes is enough time to shoot the four employees and leave in a company truck.

This sounds Drug related.
There could have been drugs stored in one of the storage rental spaces and loaded onto a company truck to transport the drugs out that morning. The only reason to kill the other employees would be if they knew about the drugs.
Maybe they store legal medical marijuana and someone decided to run with a truck full.

I live in NYC where people tend to often make their displeasure known. I’ve seen this lots, on lots of different reviews. Sometimes it’s sounded like the owners are lying. Sometimes you lose faith in humanity as people seem so stupid - I’ve also seen owner response that said ‘um, you never went to our doctor as the doctor you are complaining about, doesn’t work here. He works at the office 3 floors up’, etc. it could be something, but IMO, it’s not unusual.

Here's a thought I have today...

It seems to me that this particular group of 3 men would fight an attacker, especially to protect the female who is a spouse of one of them. They wouldn't simply follow orders. Even with a gun pointed at them, I think they would fight back and fight hard. I think there was an awful struggle in that place.

Could one person have subdued them all?

Just brainstorming, thinking aloud....

I wouldn't quite know how to get back to business as usual. Owner has been killed along with 3 other employees. With only 22 employed, I think they all know each other and it would be more than difficult to go back...JMO.

Can business be conducted without the owners? Is payroll still able to operate? I'm just pondering things over..

I think I would be afraid to go back to work there knowing the killer is still on the loose!

The FB page for the company has a post that states the donated goods and monies would be split between the Cobb and Fuehrer families. Is this a generosity towards these employees from the owners? Or has one family been omitted for a different reason?

RJR Maintenance and Management did host three storage unit auctions on Friday March 29 but I doubt that means anything.

LE, in the Apr 2 presser, said the “business” was targeted. That could mean anything, really...... A disgruntled customer/employee or just some psycho who picked that place because he felt like it.

I searched RJR in the court public database - nothing important. The 1.4 million building is brand new, and owned by an LLC. It is rather isolated. I don’t think there was public storage on site. So who had access to the building in the wee hours, and who knew employees would be there?

Which family is omitted? There is no Dodd family. Typo on company page? The couple's last name is Cobb. Fuehrer is the other family involved. And then the owner, R. Fakler.

Any chance a burglary was interrupted? What's there of value? Not sure how to connect that to 4 people being killed, but the comment about the business being targeted could suggest theft and discovery of theft going on. IMO

Could be, but I wonder how, logistically, that would happen. All four would've have to stumble on the burglary at the same time for all to be killed. ??

It was my typo sorry!
But it does seem an odd post...of course the owners could be millionaires and in no need of financial aid but at times like this a meal or a sack of groceries etc can help with day to day survival during shock and grief.

Or one at a time as they arrived...maybe the couple together. I'm not convinced this is the case, but I considered the possibility.

Yes, all possibilities on the table at this point. The only scenario that's been eliminated is murder-suicide.
