Tim Moye, 48, was headed up K Street to a shop when he heard five shots ring out. He said, “I knew right away it was shooting. I live in Albany, Ga., and we hear that all the time.”

Moye said he was in town for Thanksgiving, and visiting his son who works in the White House. “I just saw a bunch of people start running as soon as those shots came,” he said.
"In a social media post, Patrick Morrisey, the West Virginia governor, who had earlier said that both of members of the West Virginia National Guard had died in the shooting in Washington, said his office was receiving “conflicting reports about the condition of our two Guard members.”

The governor said his office would “provide additional updates once we receive more complete information.”

That statement was retracted

West Virginia governor now cites 'conflicting reports' about condition of two guard members shot near White House
West Virginia’s governor, Patrick Morrisey, appears to have retracted his earlier statement that two members of his state’s national guard died on Wednesday, after being shot in Washington DC.

“We are now receiving conflicting reports about the condition of our two Guard members and will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information,” Morrisey wrote on social media minutes ago. “Our prayers are with these brave service members, their families, and the entire Guard community.”

Very irresponsible of the Governor to make a statement like that withought knowing actual facts.

The suspect approached the guardsmen appearing to target them, firing first at one of the guardsmen who was mere feet away, according to three law enforcement sources.

One source said the suspect then fired at the other guardsman who tried to get behind a bus stop shelter.

The source said the suspect is not cooperating with investigators and had no identification on him at the time of his arrest.

So senseless.

WOW.
Its hard to believe a state governor would offer condolences and remembrances for these National Guardsmen and then have to back pedal. No wonder the media has lost so much functional integrity....Google it, long list of MSM are carrying articles from as recent as 12 minutes ago indicating their death, most quoting the Governor of West Virginia.
Just bizarre, IMO.

Watching the press conference right now and the FBI director referenced the victims as being in critical condition so let's hope that is accurate and neither have passed away.

I always wonder if when reports from the scanner mention 2 casualties, then do people think that means they died?

They also said the suspect was taken to a local hospital.

Also from the press conference:

suspect was also shot and being treated at a local hospital

no evidence to indicate anyone else is involved or working with the gunman

they have reviewed video footage and at this time no evidence that anyone else was involved other than the shooter

not saying who shot the gunman, but the guardsman were armed

gunman came around a corner and opened fire on the NG soldiers

other NG soldiers were in the area and heard the gunfire and ran toward the area and kept the gunman contained until LE arrived

FBI director sows confusion at news conference on shooting of national guard troops

Kash Patel, the FBI director, sowed confusion at a news conference when he seemed to stumble over his words while pledging to devote all necessary federal resources to the investigation of the shooting on Wednesday.

When it was his turn to speak, what Patel actually said was: “We will shortchange the American public with no resources to make sure we find and safeguard our nation’s capital, right here in Washington DC, and bring anyone responsible for this heinous act of violence to justice.”

Shortly after Patel spoke, Jeffery Carroll, assistant chief of Washington DC’s Metropolitan Police Department, said that “at this time, there is no indication that there was any other suspect. The one suspect that was involved in this incident, they were shot during the interaction and transported to the hospital for treatment.”

Patel was then asked by a reporter to clarify why he had pledged to bring “anyone responsible” for the shooting to justice. Carroll answered that video reviewed by the police of the shooting suggested that it appears to have been the work of “lone gunman”. Patel did not address the question.

A pair of National Guardsmen were wounded in the downtown Washington, D.C., shooting, officials said.

"Please join me in praying for the two National Guardsmen who were just shot moments ago in Washington D.C.," according to a statement by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem...
This was the last thing our country needed right now! Praying!

Hoping they pull through.

The Governor posting that is absolutely disgraceful - surely he should be getting information from an official source prior to posting on social media.
