Technically, "casualties are deaths or victims. An example would be in the Armed Forces. A casualty can be a wounded person in the armed forces or a death. So basically it is both. An example would be: "The army suffered massive casualties." That could be deaths and injuries.I have actually always understood "casualties" as deaths

Casualties - Fatalities
Hi everybody, what's the difference in meaning between "casualties" and "fatalities" in a war report? fatalities = dead whereas casualties = either dead or seriously injured ? Would the meaning change in a car accident report for example?
