Shooting reported near White House

  • #61
I have actually always understood "casualties" as deaths
Technically, "casualties are deaths or victims. An example would be in the Armed Forces. A casualty can be a wounded person in the armed forces or a death. So basically it is both. An example would be: "The army suffered massive casualties." That could be deaths and injuries.
This is not a mainstream media source, but it seemed reliable. Anyone, please feel free to correct me.

This is me begging. You can't see me, but I am on my knees, ready to plead with you all.
Do not make this thread political.
Thank you.

Wonder what made him snap?
I'm expecting to learn that he didn't "snap," per se. He apparently traveled across the country to DC, intent on killing military members. Some sort of grudge I'm thinking.

Law enforcement sources told CNN that the suspected shooter, who has not been publicly identified, is not cooperating with cops.

The suspect appeared to target the soldiers, firing first at one of the guardsmen who was mere feet away, according to the sources.

The suspect then allegedly fired at the other guardsman who tried to get behind a bus stop shelter.

In the first video at the link, you can see the broken glass from the bus shelter. 😢

Afaik, the Nt'l Guard are armed and I'm assuming the second Nt'l Guard to be shot was trying to get behind something to draw his own weapon in self defense ?
The last two words are important as imo it shows they weren't threatening to the shooter in any way and I doubt the murderer even knew them.

This is sad and so despicable on the part of the perp.
Omo.

Thanks for this !
@MassGuy ; You're my 'go to', for breaking news and reliable information.
I was wanting to learn more regarding possible motive, and did not know he'd traveled to DC.
Do we know from which state he originated from ?
At this time I'm assuming he is a lone wolf, so to speak.

Was thinking he maybe lived there in Washington, D.C., and somehow became angry about the presence of the Nt'l Guard who were there, ironically, to help with the crime in the city ?
Imo.

A pair of National Guardsmen were wounded in the downtown Washington, D.C., shooting, officials said.

"Please join me in praying for the two National Guardsmen who were just shot moments ago in Washington D.C.," according to a statement by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem...
what is the world coming to these days as during the 80s and early to mid 90s things were no where as bad as it is these days. As the country i live is a bit different than the usa meaning that we do not have the same issues with guns for example. Also in saying this we dont need the type of securty thats used round the white house.

One of the posted articles said he originally came to Washington State in 2021. I do not know if that was where he still resided before traveling to DC. I haven't seen anywhere that it's mentioned where he traveled from specifically for this attack.

We know he settled in Washington state, and that was his last known address (I've heard Bellingham). It doesn't appear he moved to DC, so at this point it looks like he probably traveled there. I'm sure we'll have some clarity in the coming hours.

I've seen it reported that the gun was a revolver. This is not the type of gun you'd want for something like this, due to its limited capacity. It's the kind of thing you use if you have to, perhaps if you don't have a way to purchase something more effective.

How awful. The unhinged nutcases are getting bolder and bolder. Shooting two National Guardsmen up close, at point blank range, in broad daylight, right outside the White House. SMDH

May the two honorable National Guardsmen fully recover. 🤞
May the shooter rot in he!!.

IMHO

A close relative of the suspected shooter of two National Guard members said that the suspect served alongside U.S. Special Forces troops in Afghanistan before coming to the U.S.

The relative said Rahmanullah Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. in September 2021 after serving in the Afghan Army for 10 years, alongside U.S. Special Forces troops. He was stationed at a base in Kandahar for part of that time, the relative said.

He came to the U.S. after the Taliban took over and eventually settled in Washington state, the relative said.

This close relative served with Lakanwal, supporting U.S. troops, and was injured during his time in uniform.

“We were the ones that were targeted by the Taliban in Afghanistan,” the relative said. “I cannot believe it that he might do this,” he said.

Lakanwal grew up in Khost Province, the relative said.

The relative said Lakanwal has a wife and five boys, but this relative said has not spoken with Lakanwal in several months.

“I don’t know what happened,” the relative said with a shaky voice. “I need your help to know why this happened,” he said, breaking down in tears.

He may have been upset about how we abandoned the non Taliban Afghans and how sloppy the withdrawal was. Didn't the Taliban execute a bunch of the Afghans who helped the US? Or he was just a cold blooded terrorist belonging to a sleeper cell.

Was he allowed to purchase guns legally here do we know?

Perhaps he has some type of PTSD from his time serving? I would think his family would know if he had some deep seeded hate that he wanted to act out on, and this relative seems surprised by this. Did he just kept that part hidden for these last several years? Shocking to think he has a wife and 5 sons. Did he bring his wife and children with him, and they all live in Washington state or does his wife, and children live somewhere else?

Is his family here?

Was there any known altercation between them beforehand?
