That's really great to hear, Frigga. I can imagine how hard it was to accept it and then change your diet - having to give up things you love, but if you feel better in the long run then it's all well worth it! You'll find substitutes for the things you enjoy! Baby steps, right?! Every time I'm in the grocery store I'm seeing more and more things available for those who need a gluten free diet. Good for you for keeping at it! That's great that you are feeling better and seeing results in your skin!!! :)

I don't have any stomach and digestive issues really, but I have a terrible problems with allergies while eating. It's the strangest thing. Almost every single time I eat - especially breads, or carbs in general, my nose starts to run so bad I have to leave the table. It lasts for over an hour or so after I eat. It's one thing when it happens at home, but if I'm out at lunch or dinner- people have commented and it's embarrassing. My doctor says I don't have any food allergies and that food allergies wouldn't cause that - but she has never tested me!

That is really strange... and interesting. I think it would be worth getting tested. Yes... baby steps and for now one thing at a time. Dairy came up as an allergy as well.

When I agreed to give up the gluten I was like no way are you taking my cheese! I don't drink milk per se, a little yogurt but I am Norwegian and no way am I giving up my cheese. I have cut way back though.

My brother used to tease me that I needed to open a restaurant called "Tina's Cheese Palace" (that is my family nick-name) and serve cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a gazillion different ways, that's how much I LOVE cheese.

Well....have you ever found it? Yet? I must know!

No! I never did find it in New Orleans, but I only checked the corner stores and drug stores I could walk to from our hotel. I'm back home now in Florida and will check the local grocery stores in the next few days. When I find it I'll report back! I'm sure it's delicious! I wish I could remember who it was here that posted about it the other night!

Last summer Haagen Daz had a Coconut Pineapple flavored ice cream that was to die for! They may still have that flavor and if you like coconut and pineapples- it's yummy and to die for!

Does the doctor...Allergist test for all food allergies or should I request a specific test? Thanks much.

I had a couple of tests actually- your doctor will know- but yes, what you are allergic to shows up.

Here are a few of mine, and let me preface this by saying I eat the top five everyday at most meals:

black pepper
garlic
chicken
eggs
pinto beans
gluten
barley
rye
cod
shrimp
black walnuts
pineapple
banana
... and much, much more!

I love cheese myself! I don't think I could ever give it up! It's one of my favorite things to eat!

It's actually not as bad as you would think, once you get off gluten and any other foods that make you sick. If you cheat and eat them, you notice right away how crappy you feel and don't want them anymore.

Paleo and primal websites have a lot of recipes for yummy food, just made with good ingredients instead of processed or GMO junk.

I cheat and eat fresh hummus from a local co op or real cheese from time to time...allergic to dairy but I can't help it sometimes.

Where do you find this cocoa? I'm not familiar with either of the cocoas mentioned. I'm embarrassed to say that I've only ever bought HERSHEYS! lol!

No Hershey's! LOL
I can get scharffenberger @ my local normal supermarkets.
My 2nd choice from normal supermarkets is Ghiradelli.
Valrhona is sold at Whole Foods. Anything @ Whole Food should be excellent.
Trader Joe's cocoa powder is also good.

"But the thing is that if Ms. Wilmott and I were married, I certainly would say I want to F'g kill myself. That doesn't mean I want to kill myself. It means that there is a bad relationship and I'd want you to leave me alone."

:floorlaugh: Ms. Wilmott may not think it's funny. I think it's HILARIOUS!!! :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

I know - Hersheys! I almost erased my post!! :floorlaugh:

I'll check my markets. I'm in the deep south - Florida panhandle. We don't have a Trader Joes, or a Whole Foods, but we finally did get a Fresh Market! I will look there! Thanks so much.

Off to play some guitar and then get in bed! I realize this is my second good night, soooo Good Night, Good Night!!! :seeya:

Pferrin! No, I haven't but thank you, I will check it out. I have tried a few from Whole Foods that have been pretty good but I am happy to find new sources. I am lucky that there is a lot more out there these days. Whole foods just came out with a fantastic lemon cheesecake in their bakery with a cashew crust that is to die for!
Try Udis brand of gluten free baked foods. They are amazing, like white bread, bagels, pizza shells and blueberry muffins! They have a website where you can order and many more mainstream stores carry them , even Trader Joes!
