That's really great to hear, Frigga. I can imagine how hard it was to accept it and then change your diet - having to give up things you love, but if you feel better in the long run then it's all well worth it! You'll find substitutes for the things you enjoy! Baby steps, right?! Every time I'm in the grocery store I'm seeing more and more things available for those who need a gluten free diet. Good for you for keeping at it! That's great that you are feeling better and seeing results in your skin!!!
I don't have any stomach and digestive issues really, but I have a terrible problems with allergies while eating. It's the strangest thing. Almost every single time I eat - especially breads, or carbs in general, my nose starts to run so bad I have to leave the table. It lasts for over an hour or so after I eat. It's one thing when it happens at home, but if I'm out at lunch or dinner- people have commented and it's embarrassing. My doctor says I don't have any food allergies and that food allergies wouldn't cause that - but she has never tested me!
That is really strange... and interesting. I think it would be worth getting tested. Yes... baby steps and for now one thing at a time. Dairy came up as an allergy as well.
When I agreed to give up the gluten I was like no way are you taking my cheese! I don't drink milk per se, a little yogurt but I am Norwegian and no way am I giving up my cheese. I have cut way back though.
My brother used to tease me that I needed to open a restaurant called "Tina's Cheese Palace" (that is my family nick-name) and serve cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a gazillion different ways, that's how much I LOVE cheese.
