He has already been sentenced for something like 50 years so he will never get out, even if the jury hangs. I believe it was 50 plus years. Have to check on that tomorrow.

He hasn't been sentenced yet for the attempted murder charges he was convicted of and won't be until after his retrial. I know he'll never get out. But Jordan still deserves justice too.

For anyone that's interested, I just realized the Michael Dunn retrial is getting under way tomorrow with jury selection. I really really really hope the jury figures it out this time and they get it right. J4JD.

I tried searching it in WS....I guess there is no forum for it? Or did I screw up again?

question...

Since this trial is for sentencing only, can the Judge limit the amount of time anyone can talk, family, friends, and her too....not the testifying part, but like when 'she' talked for 18 days on why she should live?

RULING
The Court has considered the Request for Camera Coverage and Modification of May 21,
2014 Ruling filed August 21, 2014 and the oral argument conducted on September 15, 2014.

In the request, various media outlets seek a court order authorizing broadcast of video
coverage of the court proceedings each trial day to begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of each
trial day’s proceedings. The State does not object to the motion. Defendant objects for reasons
stated during oral argument on September 15, 2014 and in sealed proceedings and pleadings
previously filed on the issue of live media broadcast of the trial. The Court previously ruled on
the issue of live broadcast of the trial by sealed minute entries dated November 14, 2013 and
May 21, 2014.

During oral argument on September 15, 2014, counsel for the defendant stated the
mitigation witnesses for the defendant had been assured there would be no live broadcast of the
penalty trial. He further stated that if the penalty trial is broadcast, most of the defendant’s
mitigation witnesses will not participate in the proceedings for fear of being harassed and/or
threatened. Defense Counsel also orally requested the Court revoke the media’s intervenor status.

The Court affirms all finding made in its rulings dated November 14, 2013 and May 21,
2014. The minute entries containing these rulings were sealed to protect the witnesses, jurors,
attorneys and the defendant’s right to a fair and impartial jury for the penalty phase retrial. This
Court believes the orders contained in those minute entries provide for the least restrictive media
access to the trial that will protect the defendant’s right to a fair penalty phase retrial. Nothing
presented on September 15, 2014 alters the findings made in those minute entries.

A broadcast delay of 30 minutes after trial has finished each day will not diminish or eliminate the likelihood
of harm noted in the court’s previous rulings. In fact, the avowal by defense counsel regarding
the participation of mitigation witnesses if the proceedings are broadcast supplements the court’s
findings in its previous orders.

The Court is mindful of its obligation to allow public and media access to the trial. That
access should not include live broadcast of the trial prior to a verdict for the reasons addressed in
previous sealed proceedings. The public and media may attend the penalty phase trial each day.
The media will be permitted to videotape the trial each day using their own equipment. The
videotaped recordings may be played after a verdict has been reached
. During the trial, Court
policy allows the media to “tweet” from the courtroom.
A still camera has been authorized to be
in the courtroom during the trial. At the conclusion of the trial, the Court’s FTR recordings will
be available to the public following a public record request and payment of required fees. In the
event there are insufficient seats in the courtroom, Maricopa County Superior Court
Administration has authorized an overflow room for those who wish to view the trial.
For the reasons set forth above,

IT IS ORDERED denying the Request for Camera Coverage and Modification of May
21, 2014 Ruling filed August 21, 2014.
:gaah:

The Court finds revoking the media’s intervenor status is not appropriate or necessary.

IT IS ORDERED denying the defendant’s request to revoke the media’s intervenor
status.

Just to refresh ourselves, this is the ruling from 5/21/2014:

Michael K. Jeanes, Clerk of Court
*** Electronically Filed ***
05/27/2014 8:00 AM

05/21/2014

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED the media may use their equipment to record (audio and/or
video) the penalty phase retrial consistent with this order, the provisions of Rule 122 and 122.1
of the Rules of the Arizona Supreme Court and the policies and procedure of the Maricopa
County Superior Court. Those recordings may not be aired or used for any purpose until after a
verdict has been reached by the jury in the penalty phase retrial....

I guess YTubes to view after the retrial is better than nothing.

We should be grateful for that.

I'll be watching them 'til 2016 :gaah: with my BW- a little each day- since there will be tons of them. :sigh:

Eck. So, who will be showing the court proceedings after the verdict. I doubt I will watch them in their entirety but I would like to see some of it and I certainly won't let it interfere with the joyful and blessed Christmas Season, since it won't air until sometime in December, that is if it is over by then.

So, wildabouttrial (and others) will be tweeting live from the courtroom?

Yes- everyone will be Tweeting (Jen from Trial Diaries, WAT, Troy Hayden, Michael Keifer, and who knows who else). It will be pandemonium, IMO, with those who will be tweeting and everyone here posting the same Tweets. :scared::gaah:

I think we will be missing all the subtle thingys that give us the trial experience that we had from the trial last year. Some tweeters don't post all because they don't feel it's important (to them, but it might be important to us).

Took down the hummingbird feeder a couple of days ago and cleaned, stored it away for next spring. I'll miss those sweet, little creatures. May they have an easy migration.

hummingbird_feeder.jpg

Only a couple of them left at my house now. I had quite the clientele this year and have been feeding and gardening for them at this house for nine years. They sometimes nest in my yard.

So yes, most of them have embarked on their incredible, long migration. It's almost time to take the hummer feeders down and get the seed/suet feeders up. They will be gone next month and return in April.

Glad to find another hummingbird enthusiast here! :seeya:

The menagerie here gets a big breakfast everyday. Blue jays, crows, squirrels, one rabbit, small birds and a few lizards. I had a front tree full of songbirds but they migrated early. I realized too late that the seeds in a new sack weren't small enough for them. I miss their melodies at night and at daybreak.

Good Morning all. We are now down to one week. I have another big project at work that starts today and must be completed by early November.
I will be depending on you folks for updates. Darn work gets in the way again!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day. A beautiful day in my neck of the woods. Last day of Summer.

Spellbound, I am about ready to toss my iPad into the garbage. With the new update, it keeps locking up. I may have to break down and get a laptop.

Haven't read anything here since yesterday - but got a Google alert that there will be no cameras... :tantrum:

Hopefully, we will have someone in the courtroom tweeting!!

If you like "Who do You Think You Are" on TV - tomorrow on PBS, Henry Louis Gates has the second season of "Finding Your Roots" on! I'll be watching!

Another smoky morning! Cough, Cough!!

:seeya: now back to reading...
