:jawdrop: How dare you all spend any of her inheritance on anything for your home!
We all know Mr. Coffeejunkie worked 44 years of his life to make a nice little nest egg for your kids :giggle: And here you go buying a new fridge that was only 20 years old! And then you had the nerve to replace old carpet? I do hope you did as she requested and cut up your credit cards. :giggle: What is wrong with our adult children these days? They just ASSUME they are entitled to everything! SMH

Susza You so sweet! You have a very good heart to think about your parents in such a caring way. We should all be so lucky.

Well tell your daughter that I will be pitching in on the gas money, then maybe she'll let you go
That really would be fun. I must admit I do have a phobia of bridges these days. I have never been real fond of them, even as a child I remember closing my eyes as we drove over one. As a teen and younger adult, I didn't love them...but I traveled to Indiana quite frequently. I always took my girls to Santa Claus Land (now called) Holiday World every summer, to Hubers every Oct. to get pumpkins and a hayride. And then again every December.

For at least 10 years in a row I would take a week of my vacation the first week of every November and do ALL my Christmas shopping at the Green Tree and Riverside Malls. There were other stores right there close such as K mart, Value city and I can't remember the name of the big Drugstore (?) there by Value City, but they had very nice things. Leather wallets etc.... I would leave at 8 am. and shop until they closed. BUT ~ I always finished it all up in one day! I had all the stores to myself as most people were working. I hate crowds when I shop...I hate to even shop now.

We would go to Caesars Casino (now called Horseshoe Southern Indiana) several times a year. So, although I was always leery of bridges, I still traveled over them with no problem. BUT NOT ANYMORE...

My sister used to live in Minnesota years ago before they moved back here to Kentucky. They remained close to a couple that used to live next door to them. They still visit each other twice a year. The other couple comes here in the winter, and my sister and BIL go there in the summer. In 2007 the other couple's husband picked them up at the airport, and they had just crossed over the bridge before it collapsed. :scared: Missed it by one minute!!
I have not been on a bridge since.

I hate just about everything you do LOL. I shop at Walmart after midnight, I hate shopping malls and don't want to be in one when and if some crazy with a gun shows up. Outside of my friend here I don't socialize much other than y'all and my family. When dh and I got together (we lived together for eight months before we got married. My mother wouldn't step foot in our apartment. We were living in sin. Another story for another day) we worked four to midnight and loved doing our shopping when it wasn't busy before noon. Our only mode of transportation was his Harley which I hated with a passion, so we couldn't carry much, but we could have two bags of groceries between him and me and I'd hold a cake on the gas tank in front of him.

My brothers band used play up there at a casino a few years ago. I'll see if there is still a video of them playing on youtube.

Bridges,, shudder, it's even harder driving over them, and I hated them with a passion too. Just like elevators and escalators. I'm not a fan.

Now we need this for a road trip. We'd go up and get YesorNo up in New York slide on down and get Gigi and Zuri, then over to get Spellbound, Nore, coffee and you. I love road trips. Dh tells my sisters and I to tell him where to go and he drives. Of course we'd have to stop at every garage sale, pawn shop and antique shops, but we'd have a wonderful time and good company.

I remember that bridge collapse in Minnesota. WOW That was a really close call Dmacky and glad they made it over. That was a really huge bridge and when it fell it was terrible.

They kind of creep me out too going over any bridge. Especiallly the really long ones like in Florida or Cape Hatteras area or Norfolk area where they go over huge spans of water.

It really made me mad when the government had all that money some years ago and they wanted to spend it to jump start economy and gave it to Banks instead of spending it on infrastructure to fix our roads and bridges.

The banks took it and gave bonuses to their managers and its all gone. If our government would have just setup infratstructure projects, it would have put people to work and the end result would have been great roads and bridges for all our people. We would have had something to show for it and people may have kept those new jobs.

We have a bridge that is called two mile bridge over lake Tawakoni, the bridges over the causeways in Galveston and South Padre Island, but the hardest was going over Lake Pontchartrain in Lousiana. One of the two bridges is 23 miles long.

I remember when that bridge fell up there in Minnesota, IIRC it was in 2007.

Judge sentences Holmes to life, orders him out of courtroom

"CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — The man who unleashed a murderous attack on a packed Colorado movie theater was ordered Wednesday to serve life in prison without parole plus 3,318 years — the maximum allowed by law — before the judge told deputies, "Get the defendant out of my courtroom, please."..

Samour ordered 28-year-old James Holmes to serve 12 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, one for each of the people he killed in the July 20, 2012, attack on a crowded movie theater.

He then added another 3,312 years for 70 convictions of attempted murder, and six years for an explosives charge.

"The defendant does not deserve any sympathy," the judge said. "And for that reason, the court imposes the maximum sentence it can impose under the law."..."

Summer love at the Zoo :heartbeat:

A Gorilla Match (or 5) at the Bronx Zoo

"...Ernie is 32 and has been around. Born in the Oklahoma City Zoo, he lived in Colorado Springs and Knoxville, Tenn., before arriving in the Bronx on May 25, 2010, shipped in a large crate via FedEx overnight express.

When zookeepers describe Ernie, they use words like “cautious,” “gentle,” “patient” and “excellent father.”

Is he also loving? Certainly he knows what he’s doing, having sired four babies who were born to his mates in the last 18 months.

But does Ernie love the five adult female gorillas in his troop? Or is he only in it for the sex?..."

Leonardo DiCaprio to Play America’s Most Famously Prolific Serial Killer for Martin Scorsese

"Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer are all notorious names in America’s history. But if it’s gruesome murder sprees and style you want, then the U.S. serial killer for you is H.H. Holmes...

H.H. Holmes admitted to killing 27 women in the time surrounding the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, but is widely believed to have dispatched closer to 200 victims. Holmes built himself the perfect murdering machine in the shape of a diabolical hotel since nicknamed the Murder Castle. (American Horror Story Season 5, anyone?) The structure had gas lines that fed into rooms, enormous furnaces, lime and acid pits, and large vaults where Holmes tortured, suffocated, and strangled his victims. All the while decked out in the natty attire of a well-to-do 19th-century gentleman.."

I hate bugs :(

'They're in everything': California bug outbreak irks residents as insects invade homes, cars

"LONE PINE, Calif. (AP) — The gas station's ground was covered with the small winged bugs. Piles of carcasses, inches deep, sat swept to the sides.
On the road, they rained onto car windshields. They flew by the thousands toward even the smallest sources of light, and crept along windows and kitchen tables.
Such has been the skin-crawling reality for the past two months in the high-desert communities at the foot of the Sierra Nevada's eastern slopes, where residents have seen an explosion of the black-and-red seed bug species Melacoryphus lateralis..."

Was going to post this the other day when I got yet another sticker in my foot, and was thinking, hmmmm, bet there's a few folks out there that haven't tried this:

You know when you get a stupid sticker in your foot, or hand, wherever, and you can't get a grip on it with tweezers because it's just too small but it's driving you crazy?!?!?!?!

Duct tape.

Just put a fresh piece of duct over the area, press down and pull up.

Duct tape.............the "Wonder Tape", lol!

I am at work now. Will try to post later on. Your right it is a shame. I don't know if I mentioned this but in recent years mass shootings went from once a month to once week. The training talked a lot about bullying also. You never now what struggles someone is facing or where their breaking point is.

We're Missing The Big Picture On Mass Shootings

"It felt like a summer of mass shootings.

You probably heard about the killings in Charleston, South Carolina, where a white gunman opened fire inside a historic black church, and the shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana, where a man targeted moviegoers inside a darkened theater. Or the shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where an armed attacker sprayed a military recruitment center with bullets...

Although they get the lion’s share of media attention, public mass shootings like the ones in Charleston, Lafayette and Chattanooga aren't representative of the typical mass shooting in the U.S.

Most are like the one Conley allegedly committed. The majority of mass shootings in the U.S. take place in private. They occur in the home, and the victims are predominantly women and children..."

This is going to be a GREAT MOVIE!!! It is right up our alley for us. I saw some special about this murderer. DeCaprio is the perfect person for this role. The killer was arrogant and fooled all the officials in Chicago. The coolest thing about this story is the Worlds Fair helped to hide this killer because the city officials were tied up with the fair being held in Chicago.

ALL of us here will LOVE this movie when it comes out. I cant wait for it.

Had my MRI on Friday and have a torn infraspinatous/supraspinatous tendon which is why I haven't been here. I swear IMOO arm pain is Wayyyyy Worse than back pain and it is very very annoying. And I blew the L2-L3 level above my fusion. So, no pity party here. I am learning how to reupholster by watching videos. LOL. And buying all kinds of stuff on EBay. I finally got a muscle relaxer that works: Good Old Valium and that has made a huge difference in my arm pain. It will heal on its own and I just gotta keep doing.

(Valium? that puts me to sleep)

What I have done years ago is break off small chunks of 5 MG valium to help calm my nerves. It worked wonders and did not put me to sleep so long as I only took partial pill. My doctor even recommended that I do that.

They sell pill cutters at pharmacies that are really helpful. They are like small plastic guillitines and will cut hard pills in half. Then you can scoot the half on it and get 1/4. Those pill cutters help to get even cuts in hard pills.

Im in. LOL

I love garage sales. There was some huge annual garage sale road trip "thingy" I saw on one of the reality type shows like "Pickers". Where every year they have this 1 state where the garage sales extend into many towns in the state. I cant remember which state it was but people come from miles around each year to tour the area and hit all the garage sales. Some rent UHAULS for the stuff they buy.

I would have to bring my flat bed trailer and make it a vacation and plan it for the time to hit that area. I would love to do that some year.
