There were 2 different individuals about 7 years ago who were targeting the Beeline Highway down there, so this isn't Phoenix's/Maricopa county's first rodeo.

I hate it when some National entertainment news stations throw in "Jihadist", "Terrorism" and all those catch words to fluff up a story.
It's just some idiot, with a gun, who really has bad aim or doesn't want to actually kill someone.

Arkansas Governor Sets Execution Dates After 10-Year Gap

"Arkansas will resume lethal injections after a 10-year gap starting next month with the first of four double executions, Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Wednesday.

Well, "Twin Peaks" is renovating parts of Northbend, Washington, where my lil' bro lives, as they continue the filming of episodes that will be shown on Showtime. The original series, 25 years back, filmed part of it's episodes in Northbend.

I got a nice response from my senator Flake about the Endangered Species Act:



It applies to what we're looking at with the whole Salt River Horse situation.
Wolves? I think that should be Fed + State by State, giving the State *more* power to protect endangered species beyond the Federal, but not less.
Arizona Game and Fish protect my right to have wolf dogs, or any domestic/wild cross breed, where in several other States it does not. When I was active in the Wolfdog Alliance, the only city in Arizona which had a ban on wolfdog ownership was Tucson, don't know if that's still in effect.
Sarah Palin really chapped my hide with her wolf hunt rhetoric. If she claims the wolves are cutting into the elk herds in Alaska, maybe they need to cut back on the elk permits given out each year to out of state hunters. The Alaskan tribes should have their hunting rights, people off the grid 2nd, legal residents 3rd.
It's not the wolf that is bringing down the elk numbers, it's placing the hunt number higher than what nature can maintain.

Cattleman in Wyoming, Montana, and the like? Again, restrict the hunt number for elk and deer so the wolves can go after their natural prey..........but lets face it, cattle have been domesticated to the point of stupid. Take away their horns and they have no defense. Cattlemen are against wolves, and elk and bison<--brucellosis is passed on by those 2. This costs cattleman $$$ in vaccinations, they don't like that. Without wild herds to sustain the wolves, they go after cattle, which is like shooting fish in a barrel with a shotgun. Cattleman don't want to be bothered with wolf deterrents.

Then you have the situation back East where the wolf was all but disseminated, and the population of deer and coyote have gotten to the point of being dangerous and suburbanized. Put the wolf back in, and it will adjust.

Wolves, by nature, sustain themselves more on rodents, rabbits, mice, birds, etc., than big game. The old, young, and sick are what they go after as far as the bigger animals. The only predator for the wolf is man, which tends to keep coyotes, bears, mountain lions, and bob cats away from the territories.

I don't think we have wolves in NY State anymore (except in the reserves), but we do have some sort of wild dogs (I hear them calling at night sometimes).

In December, however, the state Department of Environmental Conservation dropped cougars, lynx, and wolves from its proposed list of Species of Greatest Conservation Need. In the past, extirpated species had been on that list, which is part of the state’s Wildlife Action Plan.

“We feel that our conservation work is better directed at retaining viable populations of the species that are currently present in New York,” said DEC biologist Joe Racette, coordinator of the Wildlife Action Plan.

At this time, DEC has no interest in reintroducing wolves to the state..."

I had to go to the city last week (hospital), aka metropolitan area. I so needed a few of them "fukitol" pills. I couldn't get home soon enough! Tranquility, serenity and nature at it's best.

Update on my broken arm. Last week I went to the doc and got an injection of steroids/lidocaine in my shoulder. It didn't help anything. The doc gave me a prescription for Mobik. I have to go for an xray and see him again next week. I have a huge knot or mass on the arm 5-6 inches or so below the shoulder and he thinks it is callous. Until he sees an xray he thinks I tore or pulled something in addition to the break and mentioned rotator cuff and surgery maybe. Will know more next Thursday.

Last week I borrowed a neighbors self propelled mower to cut the front .... and won't ever do that again!

Wow, Daisymae, you've certainly been going through this ordeal for a long time. My heart goes out to you as you continue to suffer these long-term effects due to the fracture. Hope all goes well with your visit on Thursday and that you have some good news to share...
