TX Suzanne Clark Simpson missing in San Antonio, last seen by friends at dinner - 6 October 2024 *Arrest*

The missing mother-of-four's own mom, Barbara Clark, has now revealed the haunting phone call she had with Suzanne just an hour before she was last seen.

Speaking at a vigil set up to honor Suzanne last night at Lourdes Grotto, Clark said: 'She called me up and told me things Brad had done to her physically.'

Clark said Suzanne confided in her that about 9pm that night, October 6, Simpson had injured her arm and her back.

Suzanne may have told him that was it, she was done and leaving.
The most dangerous time for a battered spouse.

If it was said they used search dogs I might have missed it ?
Wish they could find her before the scum has time to make a plea deal for his own benefit.
This case reminds me a bit of the Suzanne Morphew case.
Another innocent gone far too soon !
Omo.

I’ve just been following along in the background on this case, but it prompted me to have a conversation with my 20-year-old son and my DH about what they would do if they experienced a similar scenario to the one the neighbor did.

I was surprised by their reactions. To me, it was obvious that LE needed to be called. I confess that I would have hesitated…I also live in a small community, where everyone knows everyone else’s business. I would have made a call, though. My DH and son both said they would have gone back inside and stayed out of the situation. I know my son and DH to be honorable and moral people. When I asked why they wouldn’t have called 911, they both essentially said the same thing: I don’t know what was really going on. That is my neighbor of many years. It is their business.

But when I recast the scenario where they witnessed a physical altercation between a man and a woman who are strangers to them, say in a subway, they both agreed that they would call 911 and my son, but not my DH said he would first try to intercede before calling 911. It was an interesting conversation. We all had such different perspectives related to personal safety, obligations to family, expectation of violence if intervention was engaged in, etc.

It was a worthwhile conversation.

I thought I had witnessed an abduction once, on my own street. A little boy, 7 years old, was playing by himself on his driveway when a car which I had never seen in our quiet neighborhood stopped and lingered for a bit, driver motioned for the kid to come over. The boy hesitated and then got into the car after the man spoke to him for a bit. I called 911, and ran over to the home. No answer at the door.

Turns out the kid was left alone in the house while his mom went out to do some errands.
The man turned out to be the boy's uncle who had shown up in town. Kid had never met this uncle. Since mom wasn't home, he took the boy to the park. He had called the mom who told him to do so till she got back.

I didn't hear the end of it. Woman never spoke to me again.

Had I been that mom, I would have been grateful, plus I'd never leave my 7 year old alone.
But you never know, and I'd do it again.

But here, it was obvious there was major trouble, the couple were obviously in a physical fight, outside, and Suzanne was screaming. So devastating.

Just to clarify, would the police protect the abuser because he is a resident? I don't want to misinterpret anything.

Even a simple "well-being check" may have saved her.
The police would take her statement (and his) and follow domestic violence protocols. Bring her to the hospital to document her injuries, collect evidence, or at the very least provide her and the children the hotline to their local DV shelter.
If she was screaming, she was still alive.
She could have been saved.

I try to avoid passive language.
Susan did not just "disappear". Her husband attacked her and likely killed her. There is no resolution. It's too late.

DV (like childhood sexual abuse) happens in rich and poor families. It doesn't discriminate.

edit: thank you for your knowledge about the area, I agree that crime is likely under reported in an affluent neighborhood.
I wished I knew how to break statements up as you have done. Forgive my lack of tech skills, I was raised with a typewriter. It has been many years since I worked in Olmos Park and I have no current knowledge of how their police are handling this case or particular circumstances. IMO you are being optimistic. Olmos Park changes slowly. Brad was evidently raised in OP as a child just a couple blocks away from their current home. Many of the residents have long family ties to SA and OP. I would say that in general it was understood by the OP police it was their job to keep the citizens out of trouble. They may not cover up a crime, but would find reasons not to discover a crime. If they were confronted by a housewife on a welfare check who was adamant she had been attacked by her husband and needed protection I would like to think they would document and provide help. I suspect it would be done reluctantly and in a sloppy fashion. They would probably point out the backlash of such a drastic action. I cringe at the thought of OP Police being in charge of a murder crime scene. I am hopeful that since BS is in custody in Bexar County Jail that the Sheriff Dept is in charge of all the investigations. ATF appears interested in BS as well. All of these are significant factors that Justice will be served if BS is charged and found guilty of murdering Suzanne. I hope I am wrong but I suspect BS will be out of prison before his natural death. I feel sorry for Barbara Clark. It may be life’s cruelest blow to have your child murdered. I am disappointed in her statements however. It was reported she had admiration for BS and wanted to know why he took Suzanne’s life. Then she brings up the possibility alcoholism was the reason. All these sentiments may be true, but I suspect BS will use them as part of a defense. I suspect he will eventually be charged with manslaughter and hopefully convicted. I suspect we will soon be hearing about this great addiction issue, or mental health issue, or even better a medical issue that caused him to lose control. He didn’t mean to do it, he wasn’t in his right mind, he would never hurt Suzanne. This is going to be a long drawn out legal affair with lots of behind the scenes manipulation. All MHO and speculation.

I’m glad though, it sounds like more than just local police are involved. Sounds like he was in way deeper at a higher level if fed Marshalls will step in if he posts bail. Jmo

With the facts as we know them, this is a clear cut case of second degree murder. Any attempt to mitigate that by claiming mental illness or whatever, is doomed to failure. His efforts to remove Suzanne from the scene and conceal her body, shows that he knew what he was doing, and knew what he was doing was wrong. That takes things to a whole other level.

Any outside possibility of a manslaughter charge went out the window the second he did that. Even now he refuses to cooperate and give up her body.

Authorities search Southeast Side landfill in case of missing Olmos Park mother Suzanne Simpson

Ugh, I was a bit worried about this. He didn’t have a great deal of time, and a dumpster, although risky, wouldn’t be the worst option in the world.

They don’t just search landfills, as it’s dangerous and costly.

At least we’re not talking about months later, so they should have a good general idea of where sheet might be.

Wondering if there had been a dumpster in that commercial setting adjacent to the wooded search area.

Good. Her cell phone last pinged from the Panchitos parking lot and there is a brown dumpster 1 block over.

There are several nearby… I know because I dump my excess trash in them . There’s a large brown dumpster behind an office building right next to Panchitos (which is where Suzanne’s phone last had activity at 7:15am Monday morning). There are some next to Pho Kim Long, Wolfe Home, Otra Vez… there are a lot. I hope they find something. Trash day in on Monday and Thursday and I thought about him putting her in the trash bin. But, they would have known immediately because the truck has a compactor system (and let’s just say… it would not have been easy to miss a body).

Clarification please...I believe the photo of BS on the right in orange is his mugshot. What is the photo on the left?

Thank you!
