We discovered Brad Simpson was sued by American Express, Liens were placed on the couple, and they own several properties. Now, some of those properties are being searched by investigators.

His next court appearance is scheduled for October 13th. Legal experts tell us that the hearing could be his public defender requesting a lower bond.
Wait - How did he qualify for a public defender?

It doesn't take much for a long term abuser. They always find a reason.

MOO
And if they can't find a reason, they will make/provoke until there is a reason (in their minds). If he's the type that I suspect he is, he creates chaos and frustration and anger around him, and when someone reacts to the provocation, HE reacts back and goes overboard to the point of irrationality (and, in this case, violence).

I don't think there was necessarily something big that triggered the argument. Could've been he didn't like the look on her face when she entered the party.

I'm sure it's just temporary. He needs a lawyer for this upcoming hearing, and this guarantees he will have one. I'm sure he'll have private counsel at some point in the near future, perhaps even in time for this hearing.

I understand why he wanted to say the family is cooperating with LE. The backsplash on their family is probably very distressing, he cares about their reputation in the community. Is that wrong?
I actually like the wording. They told us where their hearts are and where their minds are focused.

They also have cameras. I hope at least one was pointing in a useful direction.
Yes… this is about the time that we find out that 99.9999% of the cameras around here don’t actually work

Or are live feeds that don't record.

The search for Suzanne Simpson: A timeline of the case

1:13 Police says Brad Simpson not said a word to them about where Suzanne could be.
1:18 ... He still has not cooperated.

1:49 We did also reach out to DPS for an update, however,
1:52 they have nothing new to report tonight.

I'm guessing their "wealth" is tied up in property, considering Amex had to sue them for nonpayment of bills. I believe it was reported here that some of their properties have liens on them, which may make it difficult or impossible to sell until the liens are cleared (I don't know Texas law on this). MOO they may have been living beyond their means.

You are very patient :)

Thank Goodness 13 Oct will pass tomorrow
and you will not have to correct it AGAIN ;)
I didn't realize it had been questioned and answered. I appreciate @Knox being tolerant and helpful.

I’d like to know what the argument was about. They were with friends initially right? They must have an idea of what set things off.
I’m willing to bet that the tension was set into motion earlier than the argument at Argyle. Speculation: Suzanne may have indicated that she was planning to leave him. His ego and wallet were about to be bruised.

The most dangerous time in any relationship involving domestic violence is when the victim tries to leave.

Friends release new pictures of Suzanne Simpson hoping that people may remember seeing her

A U.S. Marshals spokesperson told KSAT on Oct. 11 that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) will have to finish its investigation before marshals intervene in Simpson’s custody.

An ATF spokesperson also confirmed to KSAT on Sunday that Brad Simpson’s transfer to federal custody remains a possibility and that the ATF is assisting other agencies in this case.

I will never understand how a father can ruin his children's lives by removing their devoted mother from them forever, or vice versa.

I'm guessing it's been escalating for a long time (years?). It's very telling that he was abusive to her outside...tells me he was confident no one would question him.

I am absolutely horrified by the report of her screaming in the wooded area by their home. IF he did murder her there her final thoughts were likely for her children and possibly shock that BS was escalating this far this time.

And then leaving the mother, allegedly, out in the elements with the children living with the uncertainly of where their mom is. What kind of parent would prolong that agony for his children? Self-serving man, imo.

Or a complete and utter loss of control on his part. His booking photo looks very different than the photo's from even a few years ago - looks a little wild eyed, face is much thinner. I'm wondering if this could be attributed to recent drug use?

If only instead of walking to the woods, she went to a neighbors house or called 911. Or the neighbor himself called 911 and from the safety of his yard, yelled out what he was doing. Or her Mom called 911 on her behalf. I know, Monday morning quarterbacking at it's finest - but this could have been so different - if only ...

AGREED! The old saying "Love your children more then you hate your Ex"

MOO but nope... I don't think "she walked to the woods" ... It's not likely she had any choice in what was happening to her by then.

Ps i would like to better understand the timing of the calls from Suzanne to her mother and to her friend (both outcries it appears) compared to the time the neighbor saw BS abusing her/attempting to confine her outside.

ETA from this article: Texas realtor disappeared after party as neighbors heard shouting in woods

"The neighbor told police that they had seen “Ms. Simpson attempting to get away from Mr. Simpson’s grasp as he tried to pull her downwards” outside a home on East Olmos Drive.

The witness said it appeared Brad Simpson “was clearly attempting to keep Ms. Simpson from running away” and that the couple was later seen walking away from the house together.

The neighbor then told investigators that shortly after he heard two to three screams coming from a brushy area east of his home."

If she walked away with him, I'd put money on him having a weapon on her. A knife or a gun, ensuring compliance.

IMO, it's an "all about me" kind of thing -- selfish, and an "I've had it with you." By the same token, he apparently didn't care about his children during those moments, either.
Hoping for a break in this case asap. So glad he is locked up. I suspect he didn't count on incarceration before or after what he did to her. Grrrrr.
