aww I'm so sad that he can't post bail
sorry about his luck
Sigh -- so, so sad.
But he is in a warm place -- out of the elements, free and three squares a day, and he has a nice little bed so that he can sleep well at night.
Somehow, I don't believe his wife is doing as well. Grrrrr.

Suzanne's daughter is speaking out. Powerful words;

"Those who choose to remain silent are
choosing to blind themselves from domestic violence in our homes. My mother tried to leave my father and lost her life. If you stand with my mother and our family please be present at my dad's hearing on Nov 13 in SATX, stand with us in silence for my mother, justice will be served and my mom will be brought home. Shame on Alamo Heights for not educating the youth and community on domestic violence and sexual assault as women across the world suffer in silence as victims. Any women of the AHHS community that has experienced any kind of verbal, physical, or sexual abuse this is your time to speak. Be strong like my mother and speak up."

While Brad isn’t speaking, his family members are. Barton Simpson says he sees it has both a duty and obligation to work with investigators while his brother is refusing to talk.

“Suzanne Simpson is a bright, positive presence and her energy would light up a room,” Barton Simpson said. “She is almost always happy and consistently there for others. She is a devoted mother of four, a beloved daughter-in-law and sister-in-law who brought our family closer together.”

Wow.

"My mom was a victim of abuse from my father, my father took my mother's life in a state of rage and control. In our community, this should not be happening and I will not stop speaking as the voice of my mother until she is found. I will forever represent all victims of domestic abuse and assault."

I just realized how terrified she must have been to run away from the house with her five year old still inside.
IMO She knew her life was in imminent danger.

She may have drawn him out of the house purposely to keep the little one safe, since the poor kid already witnessed their mom get battered.

I feel badly for her family. We don't know how much more was witnessed over the years by friends and family, but they might have seen coercive control and not understood it. His brother really wants to ensure the public knows that "Brad wasn't raised like that" and it seems like distancing language to me IMHO.

There are too many controlling men who behave like Brad in the world today. I wish femicide wasn't so common.
Exactly. As you worded it, this "run away from the house" by Suzanne was terrifying from almost everyone's perspective. It was terrifying for Suzanne to make this decision and to leave her 5-year-old child there in the house. It was terrifying for this young girl to, seemingly, have witnessed Suzanne's escape. It could have even been terrifying for Brad, had he, seemingly, not been intent on stopping her. I think it was terrifying from the neighbor's perspective, as he saw them struggling near/in the street.

I'd guess this run by Suzanne left from their front door and angled NE across the T-shaped intersection toward a brown 15-ft streetlamp. It seems to have been there, under the illumination of that streetlamp, where the neighbor, looking east out his bedroom window, saw the couple struggling. According to page 2 of the arrest affidavit, Suzanne had turned west (so a left turn of at least 90 degrees) and she then reportedly faced the neighbor. It seems that Brad caught up with her (as she made that turn) and controlled her "by her upper torso area" and "tried to pull her downwards", according to the affidavit. Here, my guess is that Brad pulled Suzanne backwards, maybe using both his arms and hands around Suzanne's shoulders to pull her downward toward her butt and legs. IMO it seems he may have done that so he could drag her east, away from the Simpson's closest neighbors and into the darkness of the wooded/brushy area, where that neighbor heard 2-3 screams a short time later.
