A thought here. I’m thinking we might be misinterpreting “tourist attraction”, thinki if it like Disney World. I’m think they might be meaning “historical marker”, to commemorate a place where a diver lost his life and the world came together to save these kids. It would be an educational place in the future. Similar to a showing a war bunker, old concentration camp, museum you get my drift.
When I was a kid my family used to visit caves in different areas and the ones we planned to see came with guides. It was all scheduled and stories told and lit. It was really pretty cool. That cave they were in is beautiful from what I've seen and I think people would visit it if it had a guide. The story that goes with that cave will go down in history as one of the greatest and dangerous rescues of all time.

Before I forget - someone asked in the previous thread how my congee experiment worked. I used chicken broth, ginger, and sticky rice and it turned out okay, although I put in too much ginger for my taste. Topped it with minced chicken, chives, a few nibs of fresh corn, and toasted sesame seeds, which all gave it a nice textural punch against the smooth chicken-rice porridgey consistency.

Without the toppings it reminded me of nothing so much as my dad's chicken rice soup - I guess he simmered that rice for hours! So I can totally see why it's basic Asian comfort food, and good for sick or recovering people. (Dad only made soup when everyone else in the house was sick!)

Love seeing these videos of them!
...I keep calling them My Little Oinkers, but I think a few of them are bigger than I am! :)

Now that everyone is rescued and safe, minus our fallen Thai Seal, it is time for me to depart the thread to journey to another. Until our paths cross on the next thread, I just wanted to stop and say this was the nicest, most caring thread I have been on. All of you are what makes WS an incredible place to congregate, research, share, encourage, pray, and of course...sleuth!

God Bless to all, and so happy for this miracle ending.

I totally agree with what you said

"The story that goes with that cave will go down in history as one of the greatest and dangerous rescues of all time."

There have been other dramatic cave incidents but this one had 12 children and a young coach. That alone will make this story one of the best stories. And combine that with all the sub-stories it will become infamous. Substories like flooding, length of cave, running out of food, multi-nation effort to save them, chance of more rain coming, all soccer team members, oxygen getting low, etc. The list of substories is just incredible.

If you are ever in a panic moment and not a good swimmer. Lay on your back and point your tummy to the sky. You don't expend any energy as one would treading water. K-end of my water tutorial.
Dead man's float, face down is better. It uses the least amount of energy, and you can move through the water to get to safety. So basically if no one else is around, you can save yourself with it. It does take practice though.

There is a video of the coach without sunglasses here:

And here’s another one of the boys in hospital, and the coach thanking a nurse. Just so good to see them alive and well after all they’ve been through. #ThailandCaveRescue #Thailand

rsbm Well, thave not been able to find out what happened, to Dr. Harris' father, but have seen "complete and unexpected shock" and, "was not sick when he left" on the mission.
And they all indicate it was after the successful mission.
Well, I kept holding Saman Kunan's widow in my thoughts all day yesterday, now I will be thinking of "Harry", today, too. :(
I wish he were able to simply revel, relieved in the joy of his own incredible, unprecedented task. I'm still wishing his father knew what a true hero his son had become that day.

I wonder where the was going to on holiday?
Half of me expects it was to go cave diving else where?

Locals believe the sleeping lady was a princess who fell pregnant to a local stablehand. The devastated princess killed herself after her father ordered his soldiers to kill the boy, and the legend now goes that the water flowing through the cave is her blood.

Wow...

Hi all, does anyone know if the boys could hear any of all the drilling and pumping, etc. being done by the crew, before John and Rick so wonderously popped up to find them? I hope they could hear things, and knew people were trying...
I only recall reading that they heard roosters crowing, dogs barking, and kids playing...
I need to ration my 4G data, and limit searching in articles or videos; so if anyone knows, please?
TY!

In one of the videos, it was reported that the boys could hear the yelling and panic when the water was rising but I believe this was after the British divers "popped up" and found them. I don't believe there were reports of noises heard pre-rescue beyond the roosters, dogs, and sound of kids playing.
