Thailand - FOUND ALIVE - 12 Boys And Coach Rescued from Cave, 23 June 2018 #6

Didn't we read they had to wear sunglasses at first due to the light? It's good to see they have been able to take the sunglasses off so soon. Maybe the last 5 out are still in darkened rooms to protect their eyes and that is why we only have video of 8 of them so far?

There is a video of the coach without sunglasses here:

And here’s another one of the boys in hospital, and the coach thanking a nurse. Just so good to see them alive and well after all they’ve been through. #ThailandCaveRescue #Thailand

Thanks G! Hard to tell who is who with their face masks on but I see the coach with the nurse closest to the windows and the last four out of the cave. So glad to see them all well.

So glad they are still together. These kids are bonded for life.

About a minute into this video he says something about the coach had the boys use rocks to dig 5 meters deeper in the cave in order to create a tunnel where they could keep warm. I had not seen anything like this mentioned before. Interesting.
The coach really was key to their survival until the rescuers found them. JMO.

I posted this video, but never got around to watching it til just now, so thank you for posting this bit of info--amazing!!

After the Thai government told the media no photos, I didn't think we were going to be able to see much of this amazing rescue. I am so glad that video has been released.

To read about it is amazing, but to actually see it is incredible! All of those folks, and there were many, carefully maneuvering their special cargo through the water and then to the dry area....how they stretchered them through that rocky terrain and all those hoses...so carefully done. All did such an incredible job!

I was tempted to buy and give my kids benedryl for a long flight, I think it was smart to sedate the kids- not even smart but necessary for their and the divers survival.

Yes as I eluded earlier I spent my teen years lifeguarding as a summer job. A child can drown a grown adult as they are panicked and their adrenaline flow is Mach 90. Throw them a life line, a shirt whatever is handy to bring them to shore. If you physically grab them odds are you both will die.

Now THAT is good to know, may save a life. Thank you.

I noted in one video how the rescue team was so gentle in setting the boy down on the stretcher. It struck me. So kind and gentle.

I wonder if the boys will be tuning into the remainder of the World Cup, not that it is important info whether they are or not, but I imagine they would want too.

Your welcome. I was concerned as way early in a poster didn't think a young person could drown an adult. A toddler can drown an adult. They are panicking. What does a drowning person do. They grasp and try to pull themselves above you. Where do you go? Under water. It was part of our Lifeguard training and it was scary as hell in a controlled environment. I just never wanted anyone to think they can save a drowning person in water hands on.

If you are ever in a panic moment and not a good swimmer. Lay on your back and point your tummy to the sky. You don't expend any energy as one would treading water. K-end of my water tutorial.

I'm thrilled but still having trouble realizing it is real. When I was growing up our local swimming hole was also a cave diving site. More than once bodies were pulled out because divers got lost and ran out of air.

The absolute worst was the day two best buddies (experienced, certified divers) got lost. One of them panicked and killed the other, for a few more minutes of life. I remember my father trying to block my view but he didn't quite succeed.
