Hello friends! I am back for the AEST afternoon/evening shift! Hope you are all feeling well and strong, and holding onto hope.

Finally got caught up and am hoping we get some more news this evening. Thank you all for the great posts!

We'll all keep holding on for our "Wild Boar Adventurers" and their loved ones and all those involved in their rescue.

Couldn’t they build some sort of dam to prevent a good amount of the rainwater from entering the cave?

I believe they are doing that; I think there is also seepage from within the mountain, in different areas, that flows in when it rains.

This truly is a disasterous situation.

Dagblad van het Noorden reports that
the company is setting aside all of their other scheduled work to help develop a rescue plan for the young boys who have been trapped 3.5 kilometres inside a Thai cave for weeks.

I feel super sad right now for the coach. He must have the weight of the world on his shoulders right now. I hope when they come home he has a support system. Regardless if he ends up facing charges. Jmo.

One thing is for sure; the world has come together in the hopes of saving these children. Although victims, they are peacemakers....

Quite remarkable.

My heart aches for him. He's just a kind young man who obviously cares deeply for the team members. I imagine he must be in a bad spot emotionally, mentally and spiritually, in addition to his reduced physical condition. I really hope they don't charge him. IMO he's been punished enough. I hope people don't put the cart before the horse-- let's get these young men safely out and then decide on future actions.

If they can get the pump deep enough into the cave!
Almost all of the Netherlands is prone to terrible flooding. The Dutch are the masters of pumping water. They'll get this figured out.

Attempts to extract survivors may begin in next few days - Thai PBS English News

He said the water level in the cave, the state of the health of the 12 young footballers and their coach and the weather at the moment are “most conducive” for the rescue operation.

Speaking at a daily briefing, Narong said all rescue plans are in place and rescue teams have been rehearsing them in the past few days. He also said additional teams of international cave diving experts are on their way to help with the rescue operation. “The are some of the world’s top experts in cave rescue,” he said.

Narongsak declined to be specific about the option that will be taken but it’s understood that having the survivors dive their way out to freedom is the most likely choice. “We have rehearsed all rescue plans,” he said, stressing that the rescue teams will choose option that “has minimum risks”

He admitted that the looming monsoon rains in the next few days are putting pressure on the rescue teams to decide on their next course of action. “We are waging a war against time and water,” Narongsak said, adding that one option or another will have to be chosen soon.

I keep thinking about him too...
and I'm sure he has no idea just quite how much is going on, and all that is being done througout the world for this.
(I think it's best he doesn't know for now.)

It really shows how naive they are about their situation when they’re worried about having homework, and helping their parents when they get home.

Have been quietly following this thread from the very start. What a roller-coaster of emotions it's been for us here, imagine the ride the boys have been on :(

Just wanted to say, have really appreciated your level headed replies through this.

I think everyone saying 'just do this or that', don't really understand the complexity and risks involved with every option. There is no easy and safe option.

Brant Webb, one of the survivors of the Beaconsfield mine collapse here in Australia, was on one of our morning shows yesterday talking about what the Thai boys would be going through. He said that him and his wife were able to communicate via writing letters but he found out they were being edited because they accidentally spelt his wife's name wrong in one of them so he knew it wasn't written by her. It made him lose trust in the rescuers as he felt they were lying to him.

Also even though they had a phone line they were never allowed to talk to family. He said the rescuers had their reasons for this but still, even now, he doesn't agree with the decision.

Was a really interesting interview, unsure if it's available on the net somewhere for people outside of Australia.

I've got to be honest, I was concerned about the boys having video chats with their parents. The boys would get too much of a sense of how scared their parents are, and that's the last thing they need right now. They need the love, yes, but however hard the families try to hide their fears, the boys will sense it and that will increase the chance of them panicking in the caves.

Ugh, I don't like what you've said about this guy's wife's letters being doctored or even made up! Now I'm scared the boys' letters weren't genuine. Maybe they were just guided in what sort of things to say and given a space limit like in a tweet?
