Also, here is an article on the Arkansas Incident, and it was also reported on the Kentucky.com site. It says "about 50 years ago", so this may be the link for which we've been searching.

We are an incredible group of kindred spirits! From around the globe and all-time zones!
We are going to need each other regardless the outcome.
Try to rest my friends. We will all be here for the long game.

Following from the UK.

Not yet posted but following the thread post by post....by post...with overwhelming anxiety each time I log on.

Having experience of pot-holing since childhood ( geologist father....hence only very 'easy' caves.....& not flooded) & also a daughter who is an ecologist & experienced scuba diver ( who recently had a panic attack, for no reason, while surveying a coral reef in Madagascar) the boys' situation fills me with absolute dread.

I don't want to bring pessimism to the the thread & I am confident that the British divers on the scene are the boys very best chance of rescue.

It helps to know we are following this harrowing situation together, my fellow Websleuthers.

Conditions over the last few days turn favourable for the extraction of the boys and their soccer coach: Thai governor
The Thai governor in charge of rescuing 12 boys and their soccer coach from a cave says the cooperating weather and falling water levels over the last few days have created conditions for extraction that won't continue if it rains again. Chiang Rai Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn says authorities are waiting for two big groups of volunteer divers to arrive later Saturday and Sunday, after which they'll be ready to begin the operation of bringing them out.

He says: "The plan that I've held on to from the beginning is that we have to bring the kids out and the determining factor of this plan is to have as little water as possible." He says floodwaters have been drained as much as possible, 'but if it rains and adds to it again, we don't know what other risk factors we will have to face.' He also warned about higher carbon dioxide levels in the cave.

I wish I could tell you, all I ever get is a blank black screen...

I got it up and running on my phone, and so far all I see is what seems to be the staging area/basic command post. (JMO based on the ABC cam feed from last night.) It's a better and tighter view than the ABC feed had going, but I must admit, at least the ABC feed had a wider angle. You could see this area, as well as the road going in, people coming and going.

I think the folks with the yellow hard hats are at least going in to the rescue staging area inside the cave, but that isn't set in stone. What do I know? ;)

Things seem to be set further back in the bush, so it's hard to glean any meaning at this juncture.

I don’t even really think the boys wrote those. Or if they did they were told to say something nice and positive and one thing they want to do.

Guys, I’m so scared. I don’t trust this media or any of the people in charge. Thank you all for being so strong and positive.

That thought struck me, too. They don't sound right to me. I hope I'm wrong, as I would like to believe they are really that upbeat and positive. but they all sounded almost the same

Ark - 1965 ...
"Rescuers helped the stranded men scuba dive out. A U.S. Navy diver died of a heart attack soon after taking Wilson to shore, exhausted by hours of swimming." :(

Definitely similar. :( But at least all the trapped were otherwise successfully rescued... hope the similarities continue with that!

I think the letters are genuine. They have physicians with them and psychologically boosting them, keeping them upbeat. It's a good emotional technique to write the positives, stay on the upside, both for the young men and their parents. No one wants either the youngsters or their folks to give space to doubt at this stage of the game. Keep hope alive.

Thank you, there is a lot of activity in & out of that staging area.

Not much happening on the Reuters live feed, but they did just move some signs that appeared to read "dangerous explosives". Did I read that wrong and are they maybe moving useless signage away? Someone please tell me I mis-read that in my anxiety. I don't want to be a fear-monger.
