Good Mornin' my dear friends, I've been afraid to check in this morning but it looks like we still have no definitive idea what
is transpiring on scene. I appreciate all the care and concern
everyone here has maintained. It may be a difficult day today.

Coach offers apology to boys' parents

MAE SAI: The soccer coach trapped in a cave with 12 boys apologised to their parents in the first letter he and the team have sent out through divers, in which the boys say they're doing well and missing their families.

"To the parents of all the kids, right now the kids are all fine, the crew are taking good care. I promise I will care for the kids as best as possible. I want to say thanks for all the support and I want to apologise to the parents,'' wrote 25-year-old Ekapol Chanthawong, the coach of the Wild Boars Academy soccer team.

Mr Ekkapol's message is the first from the coach, whose role in the team's predicament has split Thai social media although the boys' parents never blamed him.

Checking in with the live feed. My goodness. The scene with the Bhudist monks and the jungle and the Thai military looks exactly like a scene from a movie.

The sad thing is it is all too real.

Prayers for everyone. Get them out now please.

Not much happening on the Reuters live feed, but they did just move some signs that appeared to read "dangerous explosives". Did I read that wrong and are they maybe moving useless signage away? Someone please tell me I mis-read that in my anxiety. I don't want to be a fear-monger.
I think those signs are for the canisters of oxygen that are stockpiled there.

I saw that as well. No way to interpret if that is a good or bad sign.

And now they have exited.... Most likely to pray for they boys.

Oh yes! Makes sense. Thanks Jerrica. :) I am in full-on panic mode again; best take my flurried posts with an entire shaker of salt.

O/T - please forgive
Yikes, just had a kinda strong earthquake here..
was thinking I might need to gather up puppy dog and run out of the house! But all is well. whew!
I just hope that wasn't a "foreshock".
I still feel kinda shakey hands and knees, it was pretty long, too.
(...still remembering Fukushima)

It seems to have got dark very quickly on the live feed, and I don't think it's late enough yet for sunset - I hope it is not gathering storm clouds!

You know what is just amazing? People of all faiths and creeds are here (and all over the world) praying or sending good thoughts to these young men and the rescuers. I've been doing a BA in Studies of Religion and seeing the support of so many paths spiritually warms my heart.

Perhaps we aren't all that different when it comes to adversity. Even non-religious folks are pulling for our "Wild Boars". On a website like this where we daily see so much pain, it is comforting to know we are all of one mind here.

Hugs to you all. :)

Verdi!! Keep safe love! I think you mentioned up-thread you are in Yokohama? My mom was born there. It-- and all the Ring of Fire-- is a rockin' and rollin' place. I'll be thinking of you!

I think the monks were offering blessings for a safe rescue for all involved,

About 50 people or more have just exited the area I believe that leads to the entrance to the caves. Goes to show how many people they must have down there!

I think so too. The majority religion of the area is Theravada Buddhism and it a is lovely practice. These monks traveled hard and some were a bit frail. Good on them to go there, and be a beacon to us all.
