Who wants to learn some Thai today? I'll start by finding the Thai alphabet.

Zen, all you positive people, this is an emotional rollercoaster. Please help us with your calming energy. What we are feeling is no opting compared to these boys of their families, but I need to keep a level head here, I can't be posting I fragments and having heart attacks in the middle of it. Seriously.
Are you ok?

Good article. So maybe just the first phase of laying down staging equipment maybe happening.

"If approved, the first phase of the plan — which involves the ongoing process of staging equipment and clearing obstacles in the cave — could be completed by Saturday’s evening. The second phase — which calls for dangerous and risky “buddy diving” of the soccer team, in which they would each be accompanied by an experienced diver out of the cave network — could start as early as Sunday morning."

The media on the scene report that the soldiers put a green partition that blocks the view of the entrance of the caves and continues to the field hospital.

It speculates that within 48 hours the 13 boys will be taken out.

Yes I am, thank you, kkdj. Yesterday was rough, but after this I don't think I can use the term "having a rough day". Gratitude. These boys are, right now...

What is the current situation ares far as how much light, water, food, supplies etc they have. Who is in there with them right now? Did the nurse, doctor stay?

Eta: hey lonetraveler, I see ya peekin, I read what I thought was a very important post from you, can't remember what it was now, will try to remember over coffee now.

Kkdj, slept well, thank you, I was wondering last night how uncomfortable it must be for them when they're trying to sleep. What is the current blanket situtation, anyone know? I read the words "blanket" in an upstream quote: the incident in the 70s. I was also thinking how they couldn't have brought them cots, right? Or could they have? Maybe sleeping bags? If they could get tanks in there, rolled up weatherproof sleeping bags...

My "uneducated" guess is that the rescue has already begun. My reasoning is the rising water could happen in a flash and every minute is a minute they need to get the boys out. MOO

I think some are on their way now. This whole thing has been miraculous.....just the fact that they were even found and alive after so many days. The coach really has taken good care of them. He imo is a hero.

Dear Kkdj,

Your words are so beautiful and touching.

Today is a good day for the miracle to continue. And it will.

My meditation group prayed and meditated at the same time as monks and spiritual leaders all over the world.

The experience was so moving.

It reminded me of all of you on this thread hoping and praying with heartfelt compassion.

The hope and deep compassion you all have expressed for these precious boys has been greatly moving.

Faith is immovable.

Hope does not diminish.

These boys will survive.

10pm Heavy rain at #ThamLuang cave complex in Chiang Rai. Rescuers will now have to decide whether to go ahead and move the boys out tonight, or wait it out. Photo @SMcot #ถ้ำหลวง #Thailand

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. Everything says something different.

OK I'm not going any further without coffee, that's for sure. (That is no joke, I'm serious!)

(Eta: might help if I don't read backwards, I'm usually pretty good about that.)

“Each boy will have a devoted medical unit consisting of at least one doctor, two nurses, a paramedic and an ambulance, one medic told Reuters, on condition of anonymity because she wasn't allowed to speak to media.
After the initial assessment, the group will be driven by ambulances to makeshift helipads and airlifted to the Chang Rai hospital some 70km away, Pramote said.
"It takes 10 minutes to get from our field medical tent to the helipad and about 15 minute in the air to the hospital."

Preparing

Medics have been conducting regular drills at the camp, ferrying would-be patients in stretchers hundreds of metres through thick mud from the cave's entrance to the road where the ambulances -- assembled from across the country -- wait.”

Fantastic!

That's what I think too. There will be a lot to prepare. I would think they will set up emergency spots along the route (where there is least a little bit dry ground) in case a boy needs to be treated right away. The whole route will be checked for obstacles. They will make sure equipment is checked and double checked (communication, guidance rope, oxygen tanks, etc). They will probably set up more areas where divers can eat and rest. Outside the cave, space will be cleared. Reporters have to be kept at a distance. I would guess the monks came to perform a blessing ceremony. Plus, everyone needs to be fed, the pumps need to be running as usual, etc etc. So much to do.

Sorry if this is a redundant question. Is there any live footage of this?

I'm in tears. And I'm on the edge of my seat. Here's hoping all the boys and their coach and all of the divers make it through this safely.
