Quoting a post in reply still doesn't seem to be working so well..

The route back will be unrecognizable to the boys, no matter what their familiarity with the cave might otherwise be.

Worse, they won't be able to see where they are anywhere along the way for the first mile.

Everything about their route back will be unfamiliar and disorienting, best case.

Seem like it would be helpful psychologically if the rescuers could figure out a way to communicate their progress to the boys as they go along- like assigning a certain number of tugs on a rope for each of the chambers they'll go through.

Thailand cave rescue: officials confirm rescue operation has begun – live

The governor said the earliest the boys will come out is 9pm tonight, due to the long journey from where they are located and the entrance and they cannot guarantee the mission will be completed today, because the boys will all come out gradually.

A spokesman is speaking now and said they had been aided by lower than expected rainfall.

   Rescue crews: The most challenging and dangerous part for the divers and each boy will be the first 90 minutes or so. Several passage ways are complex and require underwater movements around corners. Entire effort will take 4 hours. #ThaiCaveRescue

   Rescue crews: the 12 boys + coach each have a dive mask connecting with an air line to their escort/diver. The diver has the oxygen tank/regulator. So, the boys are not SCUBAing, per se. Also, each boy will have physical contact with their rescuer throughout. #CaveRescue

BREAKING: The rescue at #ThamLuang is under way. Chiang Rai’s Governor says a dive rescue started 40 minutes ago. The boys will come one by one. We could see the first of them rescued by 9pm local time (2am NZ) @NewshubNZ

I'm picturing the boys & their coach gung-ho and full of energy as they commence their homeward trek.

Sending love, praying for protection, and asking for the Divine to provide infallible guidance to the divers, to the boys, to the coach, to everyone involved in this rescue.

May every step be perfect. May the path be unhindered. May the Joy of Reunion reward every loved one.

In the rescue of children trapped in the cave of #ThamLuang 13 foreign divers and 5 Thais are involved. They have started the rescue at 10 am (5 am in Spain) and hope to return with the first children at 9 pm (4 pm in Spain). It will be a staggered evacuation.

OK so they think about 11 hours from when the divers went in, that's about 9 hours from now and 6am my local time - it will be an early morning Sunday for me!
