"It seems the boys may not need to have dive at all, though this has not been 100% confirmed by officials.

“Although there are some slightly difficult parts that we have to bend or crawl [in] we can say that we can just walk through,” Narongsak Osatanakorn, former governor of Chiang Rai province, who is heading up the rescue operation said of conditions in the cave.

“We have done extremely well as yesterday we were able to reduce the water level by 30cm, the record of what we’ve achieved.”

I got the end of ABC Live --
two brave divers each to guide one sweetiepie out...

And I do still think the kids will need a bit of calming meds. They have qualified doctors to decide.

He said the rescue operation began at 10.00 am and the survivors will be brought out in what is known as a “buddy dive” in which each of the survivors will be escorted by two rescue divers. #ถ้ำหลวง #พาหมูป่ากลับบ้าน #thamluangcave #thamluang

most of the cave is walkable. water levels went down 30cm yesterday - the most in a single day so far.

This tells me that the narrow parts that we've all been terrified about are no longer a big issue. JMO. Please let this be the case. Feeling optimistic. :)

Did they all make it to chamber 3 or just the 4?
Chamber 3 is where the rescue camp is.
Inside the Thai Cave: How Rescuers Are Trying to Save a Soccer Team
From what I read on twitter, I understood that all the boys had already walked to chamber 3. After looking at the diagram, it makes more sense that all the boys walked to the nearest chamber. This is the chamber nearest the very skinny, twisty tunnel that is lower than its neighboring chambers. It is likely still filled with some water. They likely had to stop walking at that point because that's where they will have to dive.

Then why send so many divers?

The news that they will "have to crawl through a few places & take some tight turns," but ( UNBELIEVABLY!) will be able to walk out changes everything.

It now seems entirely more likely than not that every single one of those boys is going to have the chance to hug their parents and siblings again, to eat & eat & eat, to tell their teachers they were serious about not being given too much homework, to see the sky again, and to grow up.

I hope they are filming the entire rescue--or even just the first half to get to the boys. I'm so curious to see exactly what it is like in there.

If each boy has 2 divers, why did they send 18 divers in? I’m lost.

  • #252
Perhaps the divers will go more than once.

I sure hope so!

My stomach is in knots right now.....has been for the better part of the week.

I poured a vodka and hope I can keep it down. ;)

Prayers for all involved.

I'm sure you read it but I don't see how it could be accurate. Chamber 3 is only a third mile from the exit. They'd be out if they were there. moo

"The rescue team has its base here in Chamber
3, a dry area about a third of a mile from the
entrance. They are trying to run a communications
line from here to the trapped team."

I'd guess they did so to stagger the rescue, with chamber 3 as base. Like a relay.

Maybe. I and my kids and grandson have terrible reactions to several meds. We puke or break out or get high anxiety. We have weird reactions to some and hesitate introducing anything new.

And hopefully, being well enough to assist to the World Cup Final :)

Rescue could take three or four days altogether

More from the press conference: it's confirmed that rescue teams have indeed been practising for three or four days ahead of retrieving the boys. Also, it could take three or four days to rescue them all but this "depends on the weather" - this is from the Third Region Army Deputy Commander.

Wouldn't it be amazing if they got to go to the world final. Some of them are young enough that they might need a good long cuddle with mum first though!

I think the post meant to imply that all the boys had walked to the nearest chamber (whatever number that is). They stopped walking for some reason and that had to be because they have approached an area where they would need some of the 18 divers.
