For those who have never been in a wet cave, the above link of a cave in WestVirginia shows what it is like. In the passages from one chamber (room) to another you can be walking or crawling through water. Then at some point the water may just drop down through a hole.
But when it rains outside that same passage may fill up totally with water. And as long as it continues to rain, the passageway will stay filled. Which is why you don't ever want to go into a wet cave when it is going to rain.
Unfortunately the reality of this particular situation may be that, depending on how far into the cave they went, the bodies may be either unrecoverable or not be able to be recovered until months from now when the rainy season is over.
The cave may end up to be the grave of these 12 boys and <modsnip>who led them to their deaths.
<modsnipped- not necessary and not victim friendly>
