Oh my gosh I just thought of something crazy.

What if Sarai wasnt killed on the 21st. What if she was killed or at least taken on the 20th.
What if she never went home on the night of the 20th.

What if these videos on the 21st are not sarai but are another girl who is suppose to look like sarai. I know this sounds crazy, and maybe it does sound to much like a conspiracy but just for a minute...

What if Sarai was taken the night of the 20th, and it is some scam thing, by a group. And this group hires a women to dress like sarai. They drop her off at sarai apartment late, she sleeps there, wakes up there, and walks the route she been told to take. ( mean while someone else, already has Sarai's electronics and sends messages btw sarai and Taylan that morning so that it appears sarai is still alive and well that day, even sending one to her sister) so this other sarai look alike walks to the walls and sees the car the picking her up just outside view of the cankurtan camera.

That way when her body shows up there, it looks like she went there, and it was a random attack, after all given her photography interests it would be believable.

So even though sarai died the night before, th LE is basing the investigation around her disappearing on they 21st, so they are not even looking in the right direction. Taylans alibi is secure, because the law is looking at the wrong time and day for when she disappeared.

So this sarai look a like, maybe she was some poor girl,or Russian expat, or prostitute so no one would notice she went missing. So she gets recruited told they will pay her, and all she has to do is take a walk. She doesn't see anything wrong because of course at this point sarai isn't even missing. But after she completes this mission, instead of paying her, the kill her, because they can't have a witness. They know when sarai is reported missing, she will know what she was used for, and would report them. So they kill her, dump her in the Bosphorous making it look like a suicide. And what if ths sarai look alike, the one with the red shirt, is the same girl with the red shirt they pulled from the Bosphorous just a few days before finding sarai at the walls.

I realize this is a bit of a stretch. But.......who knows at this point.

Maybe a bit of a stretch but definitely not crazy. I can actually see this happening or something close to it.

Guys, please keep the ideas and possible scenarios coming. I, for one would like to hear them. None of us know what happened, at least not yet. Who's to say you are wrong? Surely, some people will disagree, hopefully in a polite way. That is fine.

It's his left ear, actually, but I thought the same thing. What is that?

To me, it looks like a hearing aid. I could be mistaken.

It's 4:50 am in Istanbul and I sent Yashim and alpmighty to bed. Sorry. My mistake.

Well, wake them up, please. :)

IM HERE lol Im trying to catch up on everything I just came in from being out all day. What are you asking?

Hi Krys! Just back from dinner and am reading up. I guess you figured out the question, as you responded to it. Nice to see you here.

It's always been a question mark in my head since day one about day/time of death, and other posters are also confused. The information shifts around alot as I'm sure you realize.

I'm sure you remember the fake texting murder case of Staten Island's Jessica T. by Tom P. from 3 years ago, where the texts supposedly came from her, but of course she was dead by then.

The only reason conservative dress wove its way into this discussion is not because its an issue in Istanbul, but because of misconceptions people who have never been to Turkey have about Istanbul.

I can't speak to how it goes in Morocco as I've never been there. But I can tell you how it is in Istanbul. And please believe me when I tell you in Istanbul it is NOT an issue. Turkish girls wear tank tops, short skirts, bikinis, high heels, tight pants, everything you name it. Your assumption based on your experiences in other countries is being incorrectly applied to Turkey.

And again the only reason people questioned it is because they were making False assumption about a country they were personally unfamiliar with.

Since you have not been to Turkey, I think you should not assume it is or isn't a certain way, but learn from what people who are familiar with it, can tell you about it.

In other parts of Turkey, manner of dress is much more concervative. But in Istanbul it is not much different then you'd see people dressing in a large American city. Most Turkish women dress very stylish.

Same goes in Morocco and other parts of North Africa. And I've been in Turkey, too, though not Istanbul - been to Izmir and Ephesus and Celcuk and all around that area - it's a progressive country.

I don't know how much SS knew about Turkey before she went there or what her perceptions of how she needed to act/dress while there, but from the photos of her while there it would seem she "got" the fact that it was a modern country where she didn't have to worry a whole lot about how to dress.

Hey Guys, I know I have been out of the loop for a few days and believe me, I have been reading everyones threads page after page. I find myself up a wee hours of the night, just reading and speculating. I have not voiced any input simply because...well... I have none. Because this story is becoming so overwhelming. And flip flopping every minute.

Before I start to say what I came on her to say, I just want to share with you guys that SS story has really scared me from roaming around alone in the streets alone. I am 29 years old. A lot of people find me to be an attractive woman(which means nothing) but, it scares me a little now. Last night I went out because I had a class to attend at a hotel which was a few blocks from me so I decided to walk (at night, alone) Now mind you, the hotel is in kind of a secluded area and I was saying to myself what the HECK am I doing. I can not tell you how scared and paranoid I was. I kept finding myself turning around and looking every which way possible. A car drove passed and honked his horn at me, It was a guy. I looked at him as he drove by and I proceeded to keep walking. He then stopped at the end of the block and was sitting in his car just watching me.OMG I was scared *****less....I turned down the next block and ran all the way back home. It was most likely nothing. The man probably stopped to see if I was going to approach him but who knows. Now I live in Staten Island. In a very safe neighborhood. Middle class I would say. But the point I guess I'm trying to make is, how SS story I feel will affect a lot of people. I used to walk around with my head down not thinking anything would ever happen to me, which I'm sure SS felt the same way. I will always from now and forever be aware of my surroundings at all times. SS story I believe will save the lives of many. I just wanted to share that with you guys. I know it has nothing to do with anything but when that happened to me last night I couldn't help but think of Sarai and what happened to her.

Hi! I just wanted to say that you do not need to be afraid when out and about alone. You should be prepared and aware, but don't be afraid. For one thing, if you are afraid you probably look afraid and that makes you an easy target. Next, take a good reputable self-defense class. Also, carry a weapon of some sort. I am a woman and get unwanted attention when out and about. I have taken self defense classes and I am armed (with a gun, I have a CCW) and trained to use it. I feel confident when alone and know how to protect myself in various situations. And I live in a super safe area and my town has very low crime. BUT that means nothing. Never know what criminal is going to try and take an opportunity!

All women should take the necessarily steps to ensure their safety at all times for we cannot rely on anyone other than ourselves! We are our first line of defense. I probably take it much further than some, but I (as many) have seen the horrible consequences of what can happen......

Welcome and thanks for sharing your personal story/connection to this tragic situation!

Article says:
"At 11:33 a.m. on Jan. 21, Sarai Sierra packed up her cell phone and iPad, shuffled out of her rented room and swung open the basement apartment’s iron door."

The LE may have a video, but just to clarify, in case anyone is confused (as I was originally was) there is no video in that article, or any pictures of her leaving her house/apartment, so I'm curious how the Daily News writer is so certain of the exact time she left. He may have assumed she left the house at 11:33 based on his own walk, or from information given to him by LE from cameras elsewhere, or engaging in a bit of artistic license, because, as far as I know, no video was ever released of her leaving her house or returning, but sources, facts seem to be afterthoughts for some reporters.

DrunkenGoogle translator also attempts to locate her at 11:33 on Jan. 21:
“11:33 hours in the Sierra the message again, this time, "I'm me if you want to access the search from the phone," he said. 12:45 hours at this time, 'Taylan' Send, "I'll be down there, I hope you are wireles" message passed. Information on the police, the Galata Tower and gathered around the camera images." is the answer.

(Can any Turkish readers please help with the actual translation?)

Firstly, there is no date in any place of that page. I'm not sure if it is a recent article or an old one.

Here's the translation:

Police is looking for Taylan!

A big breakthrough came to Istanbul Police's attention about the case of Sarai Sierra, US citizen, who went missing in the city. According to the FBI, day before her disappearence, Sarai Sierra was talking with an individual named Taylan. Police is now looking for him.

Sarai Sierra is currently searched extensively by Istanbul Police. According to the FBI, Sarai was exchanging communication on 21st of January, the day before she went missing with an individual named Taylan. FBI passed on the information that Sarai was supposed to meet with Taylan in Galata Tower for taking photographs.

One of the messages Sarai sent Taylan is reported to be "I'm going accross the Galata Tower, would you like to join me?". Afterwards, Sarai sent a message again and told Taylan "I'm leaving now, if you want to reach me, give me a call." In response, at 12.45, Taylan replied "I'll be joining you there, I hope you have wireless access".

Police is now checking through the surveillence camera footage of the area. Sarai Sierra is reported to have corresponded with Taylan before, at the time that she in the United States.

--

This seems to be a news article before SS was found as it refers to SS as 'missing' instead of 'murdered'.

Way back I was trying to bring this other women up and something Sarai may have taken a picture of but didn't have a link. I thought it may have been possible she was taking pictures and a murder was going on and she accidently caught it on her phone. She realized what was happening and tried to get away ending in her murder. Which would explain why only electronics missing..moo

I suspected some connection between Sarai and the woman that drowned. Actually, I don't believe she drowned. Just a gut feeling. MOO etc.

Do any of you guys remember anything said or publlished about that woman? All I remember was that she was pulled out of water.

Maybe Yashim or alpmighty or others who are living in Turkey could tell us more about it?

I seem to have missed that red shirt woman that is said to have been fished out of the straits. Let me check it out real quick.

Yup....the very classes I have taken! My local KM also teaches self defense with firearms....
I love it.....great workout, super fun and I feel safe!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is Krav Maga?

By the way, many larger companies in the US are providing self-defense classes for their employees who travel regularly. My employer was one of them.

My job often takes me to places in the US, as well as to Europe.

I took the class and am glad I did. I encourage everyone to take it.

I'm beginning to think the two women's death might be related but not in that way. For sarai to happen upon a murder, would mean she would of had to wander to that place alone, and that I just really don't believe. It would also mean that just per chance another crime was taking place at that spot in broad daylight. I'm not sure that adds up for me.

I'm more curious if this other woman, the one with the red shirt pulled from the water, is the same woman who was mistaken as sarai on video on the 21st. And IF she is the woman, on the 21st, and its not sarai, then when did sarai actually go missing?

And if that footage on the 21st isn't Sarai, but the woman pulled from the water then is that just a coincidence tan someone who looked liked sarai and was even mistaken for sarai, also ended up dead? Or was she hired to look like sarai, and then disposed of after.

Very strange. It's just that not even Krysp thinks the woman on the 21st is sarai. So could she actually be the one found in the water? They were both wearing red shirts.

I believe it was close to the time when Sarai went missing. Perhaps January 22 or so.

It was also close to the place where Saria was found.

Thank you!

I think there were some pictures of Sarai w her sons in NY Daily News or Daily Mail. There is a picture of her w her hair down, that picture looks like the video I think. Her hair is real long. She could have gotten her hair trimmed at some point so that is why it may not be exact

But the image looks similar I think

If you watch the video of her at the airport going through security, you can see that her hair is still long - or was at least up until that point.

Here's a screenshot from the video:
