Hi all!

I’ve been following this thread for a long time but have never posted, so this is new to me! I am amazed at the sleuthing you all do to find new information regarding this case. I am really hoping that the comments on the Facebook post turn out to be a good lead. Hopefully she will be identified soon.

I'd look through the yearbooks again but I'm absolutely terrible with faces. The Aransas Pass HS yearbooks from 1979 are on Classmates if anyone wants to take a look.

Longtime lurker here,...I remember seeing this post on fb, and thought it seemed like a good lead. Another poster commented what the woman remembers about this girl..
  • Lest you all think she's ignoring us, Karley did provide some info to the page today, so I'll summarize here:

Karley doesn't remember the girl's name.

The girl she describes lived in a motel in Aransas Pass, across the street from the no-longer-existent Little Bob's restaurant. The restaurant has been replaced by a small golf-cart dealership. The motel is still there, and according to Google Maps, it is now called the Executive Inn - located in the TX-35 business district. At the time, the motel was owned by a family named Peabody. The owners are probably deceased, but they had children who are probably still alive.

Looking at that motel, it has a similar layout to the description of the motel where the "Kathy" photo was taken, and Karley says it used to have a swimming pool, but the pool is no longer there. However, Karley says that the girl is definitely is not the mystery girl "Kathy" who appears in that motel photo.

Karley says the girl hung out with several men in their 20s, whom she describes as a "bad crowd". She was not a local.
She had a boyfriend who rode a motorcycle. She says the members of that crowd whom she knew best are all dead now as a result of their lifestyle. She's looking for other classmates who might remember her. She remembers the girl talking in math class about a "mock wedding" that took place at the motel, in which she was "carried upstairs to the room". Karley described the story as "shocking".

She attended Aransas Pass Jr High, but didn't attend High School, and she hasn't seen her since 1980 (when Karley started high school) Karley says that she (Karley) was on the yearbook staff in high school, but she doesn't think there are any yearbooks from the Jr. High school,

Karley says the girl had a nervous habit of biting her thumb nails. and chewing on her necklace in class. She had a cardigan sweater that was "stretched from her hands"

She most resembles the "thumb-out" hitchhiking version of WCJD that appears in the banner of this page.

I also saw on another website, "The Night Wind":
Another case we've been following and actively working on and getting a lot of questions about is the Walker County Jane Doe (WCJD) case. The background to this story's been covered widely here and elsewhere.

Don't despair, Readers. Unlike certain others, we haven't forgotten about her. I think that we now know the girl's killers---there were apparently two men involved---and her movements in the months preceding her death. We now have some information possibly linking her to Aransas Pass, Texas and strong circumstantial evidence as to her identity. We were on the verge on getting some documentary evidence to confirm; but the COVID lockdowns in Texas shut off those sources. However, this is all looking solid on paper: and we'll get this done in spite of all the obstacles.

In regards to my first post, the woman mentioned a hotel in Aransas Pass, in the TX-35 district. I found a vintage photo on Ebay, that I believe may be a photo of the hotel she is talking about(called "The Traveler Motor Hotel"). The hotel has a pool, like the woman said.

The photo of the hotel I posted in the above post, is small and hard to see here, but if you go to Ebay, and type in "Aransas Pass Traveler Motor Hotel", you can get a better view(mouse over photo to zoom)

Wow! What a great find! Did you forwarded this tip to the WCPD? Was the potential person reported missing?

I didn't forward this tip to anyone, just posted here...I am not sure who runs the blog"The Night Wind", but he/she/they seem privy to a lot of info..I tried to find out who runs the blog, but couldn't find anything about it.

What’s the link to the blog please?

I was really intrigued by this so had a look for myself. This post is about a couple of other cold cases as well as WCJD. The link is: The Night Wind: PSA/COLD CASE UPDATES---PLEASE READ AND SHARE

However, whilst I was looking for this, I also found an older post from July 2019 which is just about WCJD and seems has a bit more information for anyone who would like to read. That post can be found here: The Night Wind: THE WCJD CASE REVISITED AND SOME UPDATES

I really hope I have included these correctly, as I am still familiarising myself with the posting guidelines! Do let me know if this is (not) okay haha. Thanks!

Really great find with this and the photo! I wonder who runs the blog and how they have access to this information. Very interesting.

Yes, I have come across “The Night Wind” Blog before. I think it may have been posted as a link way back on this or one of the earlier WCJD threads, unless I was Googling WCJD and I came across it that way, can’t remember. Anyway, TNW Blog seems well written and I get the feeling he may be LE or a PI (or even a Journalist) and that is why the he doesn’t identify himself. You can post a comment I think but I didn’t notice contact details. He sounds like he has good sources and/or investigation skills. I really hope he does. I love name of the name of the blog, it’s a bit spooky and a bit super hero-ish. IMHO.
