I found it. The image anyway. What is that blurred out? A pillowcase? o_O
I will guess that's covering over the remains by LE, the press was on scene very quick, and remember the body was seen by a jogger do it was visible by passers-by. MHO

A toybox or a toy box that holds blocks? I don't think he could possibly mean a large toybox as it sounds like it was something to carry blocks around hence him saying the pillowcase replaced it. I'm not choosing any side here don't misunderstand my post.

I take no offense, questioning helps work out theories!
But IMO, it's another case of him giving replies that contradict each other.
Simply, I don't trust his versions.

I think there was a good-size toy box; and he was so busy making a reason why it's gone or he was removing it from the the home he " over explained ".
We don't even know if there was a pillowcase or toys, we only have that from him.
Personally ( IMHO) she was not in the playground that morning anyway.
Either if us may be right or everybody wrong, I am glad for your reply and it helps to make us think!

Judging by a home that was "inappropriate for a child to be living in" (QX), it might not be a toy box as we'd imagine but a box or storage tub.
My own imagination could see them saying don't do the trash bag in a laundry basket. Pillowcase in a storage tub!

I just wish when he made that statement a reporter would have asked him what he meant, and to explain it all.

I can see if it was a plastic container that held the building blocks it may have been damaged even stepping on it by mistake. Also I can understand if he put them all in a pillow case for her to drag around when playing with them.

BUT what doesn't make sense is the need to even say that. How is that even relevant or neccessary to what happened to MB?

So I have no idea why he thought he needed to bring that out.

I wish someone local would contact one of the reporters at a local news station, and ask them why there hasn't been any updates, and why they haven't tried to find out more information on MBs case. Have they contacted LE directly for the latest updates on the case?

I remember back when Shasta, and Dylan Greone were kidnapped on May 15th, in 2005, iirc.
It was covered extensively by the media for two weeks straight, but when Natalee Holloway went missing in Aruba on May 30th, the children's case went dark as if they no longer mattered anymore. :(

I pray this is not a case where the media has moved on like has happened in the past.

Wow. I can understand no cause of death, but an I.D. is baffling to me. I can't help but wonder how long this baby was actually out there in the elements.

Not a good look if they don't attend yet given the neighbours reactions it may not be a good idea.

Wow....could the hurricane concerns have slowed things down this much? Alternatively, yes, if the remains were in the elements for more than the original suggested timeframe....identification could be more difficult. What a disturbing case. But aren't they all.

Amateur opinion and speculation

My thoughts exactly. If a family member is unable to identify the body, are they waiting for DNA or dental analysis for formal identification?

Given what I've seen in various online videos, it doesn't appear that it would be safe for them to attend. Amateur opinion and speculation.

This is so confusing!

Why in the world wouldn't the ME be able to identify MB this long from when found?

It says ' that toddler's body as yet to be indentified.' Its almost like they are saying that toddler may not even be MB?

Something is just so off with MBs case. Is the mom refusing to give her own DNA so they can ID MB?

Surely it isn't taking this long to get those results back.

It sends shivers up my spine. What condition was this beautiful baby girl found in?

Very weird and sad.

Trigger warning; I have to suggest possibilities that are really awful

If she was put in bayou overnight before reporting, or even days earlier, she was exposed to animals as well as weather. Rats, raccoons, stray dogs...

A case in the past could not be prosecuted because animals had left almost nothing usable.

( Paula Sims claimed home invader took baby. Then they discovered she has made same report 3 years earlier with another daughter. Book Precious Victims by Don W. Weber.)

Also, criminals have been known attempt destroying forensic evidence by pouring caustic liquids on remains.

Even if mother refuses to give DNA sample, there are other biological family members I think would be willing to give a sample. She does have a bio father somewhere. I’m not entirely sure how it works, if a bio mother and father have the highest chance of match or if more distant relatives like grandparent or aunt/uncle could help identify. Moo

Yeah, I've wondered about that too. I have a small wooden box about 6x6" with a clear plastic top that slides on and off that a set of alphabet blocks came in that my kids had. So it could have been a big storage box or just a small one for the blocks. My wooden box would make a hefty weapon, even empty.

I haven't seen that.

We often see funeral homes or other businesses donating services, including caskets and burial plots to families who have lost children. And not only kids - a company donated a custom casket for Vanessa Guillen. Google "funeral home donates" and many examples will come up.

I think the real point though was to be cautious about giving money to people before having all the information. There's no control over where the donated money goes or how it's used. We've seen plenty of campaigns that probably funded a defense attorney or drug habit and unless it's reported there's not much that can be done. MOO.

Yes, other relatives could be used to identify Maliyah. It's used to identify perps in cold cases now quite frequently.
