Was Claudias Mortgage stopped and then restarted due to issues with security of the home? I remember reading her mother was present to help here, as probably one of the only times she had visited. Why did Claudias mother never visit and suzy and jen never meet joan. well suzy did briefly upon a given lift into town x
I wonder how J_L would have got on with J_K?

Maybe her dad helped out, but the police didn't mention it, said she had a frugal lifestyle, which as I say, doesn't strike me as very frugal at all

@Popejohn3 I dont agree here. I have never smoked and what I find is that smokers have a bigger appetite and spend more on food as smoking is an appetite suppressant.
Huh? This sentence is contradictory. If smoking is an appetite suppresant, how can you have a bigger appetite? I am a smoker and agree with PJ that it takes alot of my income (£10 every other day). If I wanted to save money, I would smoke roll ups, which would cut the cost by half.

I sort of disagree. Claudia chose how and where to spend her spare cash. You can go to the pub and make a drink last all night if needed.

I would be interested to know how many holidays she took since purchasing the house. I seem to recall that she couldn't confirm any future holiday plans as she didn't have the money (as per the conversation with the guy in cyprus).

@Popejohn3 Are you suggesting from what you describe in the context of your post that "The Guilty One" was a Police Officer?
I can't answer for PJ, but thats not my take on his post.

I don't quite understand your post. What makes you think that the mortgage was stopped and then restarted? I think this is the article (from 2011)(https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/31198...-the-missing-chefs-broken-and-neglected-home/) you are referring to which states:
'That was six years ago, when she accompanied a rep from Claudia’s mortgage firm, which has indefinitely suspended the loan, on a brief inspection to ensure the building was secure".

@Andyboy Of course do we know if her father assisted her with her mortgage (We know that it was with Santander from info from @Vixey) but P_L did push for Claudia's law and someone had to continue to pay the mortgage once she had disappeared.
I'm sure that a Sleuth on here will know when someone is presumed as Dead by insurance companies. That is to say, did she have life and or mortgage cover?

I would rather consider the above rather than to suggest that she was earning money from another source.
No they didn't - the mortgage was suspended - see https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/31198...-the-missing-chefs-broken-and-neglected-home/

Not ones earning 20k a year who have just paid 180k for a house
But do we know how big a mortgage it was? Do we know what type of mortgage it was?

  • #991
Pretty big mortgage, plenty of pub trips, plenty of foreign holidays and stabled a horse, not my idea of frugal
We have no idea how much the mortgage was for or even the type of mortgage. You can make a drink last all evening if needed. I seem to recall that she no longer had the horse and we have no idea how many holidays she took once she bought the property in Heworth. You're making a lot of assumptions here. Do you have any links to support your thinking?

Well any mortgage on her income must be significant, she certainly liked a drink because its been stated she could have a bit of a personality change when drunk, the new engine for her car, it all adds up to more than her income in my opinion
