Think PL was not considered to be a people person maybe looked on as a bit hostile/standoffish
When frequently visiting a pub? Who goes there to have nothing to do with people of all shadings? :D

ETA: If the other pub goers found it odd, that CL's father was there at CL's favorite pub and watched her getting drunk by her cider, maybe flirting with married men - that I can imagine. Idk, if it is usual to have a father and a daughter in the same pub, if not only for a nice meal together from time to time.
Maybe, CL changed her pub and went to the Acomb area because of her father?

Perhaps Melrosegate (being a proper PO) was more reliable with guaranteed daily collections whereas the other post boxes were less trusted.

Not sure if the collection times were the same in 2009 but info on Post Box Finder gives these collection details

MelrosegatePO collection times

Greendykes Lane collection times

Think 3/4 times a week is a little intrusive, ok I also enjoy a night out with my father and very close but feel that was extreme imo. x

Just catching up on the last 10 pages or so of this thread. It’s definitely CL posting a letter. It won’t be anything important, some tax thing for HMRC or something. I don’t think it’s of any relevance. All this talk of look-a-likes and decoys, people in wigs, if it wasn’t so tragic it would be funny. She was a 30 something cook at a university, it’s not a spy novel.

Why was PL not liked by the nags regulars, did he make them feel uncomfortable because they’d all shagged his daughter? I find it stretching credibility to the max that he was seeing someone, one of her friends, from that pub. Again, it’s somewhat laughable. I think the reason SC and JK are the friends who speak about her as opposed to malton girlfriends is they were the two she socialised with most when she went missing. Stop chasing shadows and inventing mad theories. It’s a lot more simplistic than that motive wise, but sadly I can’t see it being solved and I think the anniversary will pass without much media attention regrettably
Why do you find it hard to believe he was seeing someone ? He said himself both him and Claudia were single, just a bit of fun! perhaps all the women or men at the nags head liked to date a older man. It is always possible imo x

I wonder where the police went and who they spoke to in Ireland?

focus on probe statistics

• Number of calls to the incident room and Crimewatch studio: 1,270

• Cost of the investigation, as of February 28: £615,000

• Number of statements from members of the public and police officers’ reports: 2,797

• Number of officers and staff working on the investigation today: 20 to 30

• Number of officers and staff working on the investigation at the height of the inquiry: 100

• Countries visited by officers: Cyprus and Republic of Ireland

• Number of properties searched: More than 1,300. This includes 1,000 university rooms in halls of residence.

There was talk of various communities being involved and some of the locals have Irish names? Claudia was rumoured to go out on St Patrick's night

I think someone recently mentioned the traveller community who I believe have a significant presence in Eire

I was surprised a few minutes ago when "my missis" informed me that a lot of people from the traveller community are Catholics

He would be considered a different social class than most of the NH locals. Probably some inverted snobbery based on his professional standing in the community.
