well, my inverted mod post...I was under the impression that one of Claudias work colleagues had said that shed said she was going out with a new boyfriend around the time she disappeared..he only remembered this a year after. the event...I can only find it on. someones. social media page now, so I guess. well. have to forget. about it
Claudia's last rendezvous? A year after she vanished, police reveal chef's date with a secret boyfriend

Heres another one. They both mention the secret long term relationship she was in with a man who himself was in a relationship with someone else at the time, and say police believe he, and the newly mentioned boyfriend were different people.

No don’t forget about it ! In my opinion that is the biggest clue that her friends and colleagues could ever give the police !

right ok...this is one of the strangest thing in this whole investigation.
sorry...I may be. wrong but I don't believe the colleague suddenly remembered the new boyfriend so long afterwards...I guess it leaves. us with 4 explanations

1 im wrong
2 it was used as a diversion tactic from himself
3 he. was being leaned on by someone else to invent. something
4 he hadn't mentioned it before because it.was someone he was afraid of
my own opinion is that he hadn't planned anything himself but id. be looking. at whoever supplied the students with drugs as the main player
as for the long term relationship...could be true. or false...the reason I couldn't find the link is because I was trying to search for what I believe is the colleagues name

I think the same way about him coming forward a year later. To me it doesn't make sense, and it doesn't ring true that it didnt occur to him to mention at the time she went missing that she had someone new in her life she could have been with. The police say he was known to them from the outset so I do find it difficult to believe he had just forgotten the conversation with Claudia which is supposed to have taken place just days before she went missing-

Det Supt Galloway said Claudia’s colleague had decided to give the police this information after watching the recent appeal on BBC’s Crimewatch.

He said: “He had been reviewing how he could help the investigation on the first anniversary and he remembered this piece of information.

“He is a person known to the investigation from the outset. It is information he has decided to impart today. I don’t criticise him but I would be a liar if I said I didn’t find it very frustrating.”Colleague of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence comes forward with fresh lead

I also find it a little odd that she would just casually mention this to a work colleague, seeing as how she seemed to keep her personal life to herself, and if it were true, her closest friends knew nothing of itLatest Claudia Lawrence clues are ‘hard to believe’

Whatever his reason for coming forward, I seriously question his credibility. If he genuinely forgot the conversation and all police interviews, tv appeals, local talk and working in the environment she was missing from didnt jog his memory, then how can anyone be certain his sudden memory return is accurate? On the other hand if he knew this information all along and witheld it for some reason, then I would have questions about what else he knew and his motives for witholding/ revealing this conversation when he did. Third option is he is making it all up and there was no conversation which then raises a whole bunch of questions about what he has to gain.

Maybe. Its difficult to know without having access to him or his interviews. Im thinking theres a risk of him being another rabbit hole that detracts from the real guilty parties, given as the police don't seem to have taken any action against him, and as far as I have been able to find out, haven't been able to confirm or dispute his story.

The collaegue, who told about the "new boyfriend", may have had personally reasons to opening up about it. He is married, afaik. Imagine, he told his wife about the new boyfriend, when Claudia disappeared. When he hadn't told LE after one year, maybe finally his wife urged him to do so, otherwise she wouldn't believe him, that he wasn't one of CL's lovers himself.

I think, in one way or another, many people are inevitably involved in the whole story: single men, single women, married men and also wifes/ex-wifes of these married men.

Agreed, and although I think the police have already spoken to and arrested her killer, I do believe there are alot of people caught up in her case to varying degrees. Moo

ive just been going through. some old. stuff and if you google Peter ru an e...or ruin as my computer would have it, daily mail uk, the. first thing you come up with is an article from 2009 where pr says...wherever she is. now, its not out of choice.

now, obviously it. depends on if you think pr is a perp, but, if you don't, maybe he's hinting that she was taken abroad. or locked up somewhere, still alive, and. probably killed later...thus her passport in her house could either be. a bluff or a double bluff.

in view of the way jk and pr express themselves, id. have loved to have read their English. essays at. school...

I cannot understand why PR and others do not come on WS and other sites to defend themselves!?
Don’t they know that mud sticks ?

They can probably demand a six figure sum from a national newspaper and perhaps donate this to Missing People charity ?

possibly, but they would have to be very careful what they said....maybe just a. signed statement saying they've told police everything they know...

And this could have been part of the problem ie contents of the vehicles and other possible law breaking .
At one time I believe they had over 100 police working on this case .And I would imagine many specialised in different fields like contraband / ILLIGAl immigration , stolen goods ,drugs , prostitution etc
Hard not to ask questions about the field you specialise in !
And people start coming up with ‘no comment’?
I mean you know you had absolutely nothing to do with her disappearance, are you going to divulge you had ( for example) an ILLIGAl immigrant in your van, cigs, booze , drugs the list is endless!
I agree, although if you had evidence that could lead to a conviction and you had been involved in a "Less Serious" crime. you could ask for immunity.
However, you may get immunity from the police but then face the wrath of the world of Crime.
That in itself could result in a "Life Sentence" delivered quite quickly. IMO

The work colleague revealed this to police 12 months later and it was published it in MSM. The same work colleague was then featured in the Channel 5 documentary on Claudia a few years ago.

You will se that he was the same work colleague who admitted to providing Claudia with a lift.

We have discussed this in this thread earlier where suspicion was arisen because the work colleague DO, advised that he would normally take his route to work and drive past CL house on Heworth Road.

But on the day in question when she did not turn up for work, he took a detour and did not pass her house.

He did not explain why he took the detour, but based upon where he lived, the detour would have taken him out of his way and would have been a longer route to work???

Unless of course he was not coming from his home.

This may suggest the motive-Person in long term relationship with CL discovers she is being someone else and becomes angry-Motive.

But equally, new boyfriend discovers CL has a long term relationship and becomes angry-Motive

Or
Partner of person in Long term relationship or partner of new boyfriend finds out and becomes angry-Motive.

These above cover 3 possible motives for an emotional driven incident.

However, we shouldn't exclude something more sinister regarding involvement with a person from say a county lines crime operation and the other partner was part of a different crime operation. IMO. This could be more of a reason for a witness not to come forward.

Was PR not saying that for CL to have gone missing, it would have been against her will?
its difficult...id have expected him to put. emphasis on her leaving rather than where she is...eg I think people would normally say she didn't go willingly or someone must have. forced her, but maybe he expresses himself awkwardly or on the other hand small things can give you away...which I think the police are. concentrating on these friends...but I don't know whether the police are right to do so
