I always wondered if he deliberately did this walk to put himself to be seen in a place at a time as an alibi.
Perhaps he knew where the actual crime scene was or was going to be and so he did this to avert suspicion. He could then claim "I was worried about CL and hadn't heard from her so was checking on her well being"

If you knew the area or even of you were cctv savy, why would you do that walk when there were a number of cameras at the Student Accommodation-The Limes.

regarding Sandy Mac man-Was AC not mentioned very early on in this thread as the man with a scruffy sandy Mac or was it the other guy "Gerdie Mick" he was arrested and under suspicion for some time-his mother lived in North East and he was a Newcastle Supporter. He had to leave the area and his house was boarded up, he works at the UNI in one of labs.

That's not what I said!. My reply was to confirm that I believe I also read in a previous thread something about AC owning a sandy mac.

Ok let’s rephrase- if AC is the person seen on Cctv wearing a sandy Mac and also by a witness outside Claudias property on the morning of the 19th then it’s highly unlikely he’s alleyway man,

He didn’t want to be seen .she might have already told him I don’t want anyone to see you around . So he stayed in the shadows of the street lamp because every one knows people remember more once eye contact is established !

Maybe he was a secretive too (just like Claudia, but for different reasons) and didn't want to be seen with her/at her address, but very well had contact to her? Something like that ...? Maybe, in the eyes of others he wanted to remain a free bachelor, who wasn't interested in women at all? This way (via Claudia) he could have also better spied on his competition/rival(s)? Thinking of building industry/real estate owner/landlord, something like that. MOO

I’m not convinced - he is seen to walk by Claudias front door and also back round in a short space of time. He hesitates for a man in a sandy mac.

My understanding from previous discussions on this thread that it was the landlord or certain properties behind Claudias house and that he dies shortly soon after her death (from a heart attack I believe).

IMO 'Alleyman' has nothing to do with Claudias disappearance and is simply used as a diversionary tactic.

It was years later that police put that clip out !
And as far as I know they are still trying to identify him till this day .

The police have sifted through hours Upon hours of cctv - they have picked out two clips of this one man. NotR.C. But a Poi. In Heworth place there’s many properties and all of the student accommodation - there lots of footfall back and forth to the shops and elsewhere - probably hundreds daily - make no mistake this is not R.C.
