To summarise, and by the sounds of the recordings , the police had an undercover police officer with them which is what got them arrested , who overheard them saying things about Claudia, in particular “don’t worry we’ve got the back passage covered”

Also conversations the suspects about boats where the police believe she could have been taken out to sea.

Confirming really that the police pretty much know who’s done it and what’s happened. You don’t arrest and take 4 people to the CPS for nothing

And I happen to agree ! But somehow many still believe that the famous 4 are guilty !

Apologies I haven't read back through all the threads and posts but have read the last few pages about the footage in the road - I couldn't really see anything. Something came up about this case on X and it made me curious as at first I remembered another parent from York whose daughter had been missing for decades and was later found to be one of the Wests victims decades later - but then realised this was a later missing case. I lived in York (before this disappearance), so a few thoughts:

1) There is an army barracks on Fulford Road - it's not that close, looking on the map and not directly on the route back from the city centre either. But people coming back from nights out at 3am maybe ... and it used to be known to be a bit rough at times - drunken soldiers (sorry).
2) Who has breakfast at 3am? Particularly when working as a chef. Pots in the sink more likely to be from the night before and maybe the bed was never slept in. ie she might have gone to someone's house later that night (tryst eg). She was never sighted that morning. Could have gone to stay the night with someone, taking her work bag for next morning.
3) Elsewhere online it was mentioned that students at the time heard rumours there had been a few deaths related to the river. Someone mentioned police dog took them to the river.
4) York was never considered dangerous at night, even for lone females - although obviously you avoided dark alleyways. So does seem likely someone she knew, but also possible some drunken person in the street (or a group of them). Or it happened somewhere else - if she stayed overnight with someone. Although her phone was showing in her location all morning next day so if she did stay overnight with someone - could be someone who lived nearby.

I just think she didn't go to bed that night.

Sounds like somebody was alarmed and wanted to try and remove any possible evidence or check out the attic?

Assume this is the landlord being mentined earlier? I noticed this mention of "feeding to the pigs" because there is a pig farm on the outskirts of the York ring road near Haxby (or used to be) - a large area of mud with pigs free roaming. Well known for the aroma in that area.

Not a shred of evidence against them yet they clearly have a huge file against them otherwise it wouldn’t have gone to the CPS you’re fooling nobody

On another site it was mentioned the Police know who it was, that the house wasn't a crime scene, and that she was lured out of the back of her house, through the garden - pathway leading to the back of the Nags Head pub. But not enough evidence - ie a body would help.

The last text she supposedly sent seemed very odd. Mentioned in a blog by Major somebody. It made me think, if she did send it herself, she was scared - worried about something - and trying to make herself unavailable. Alternatively, as mentioned on the blog, someone else sent it - to make her look unavailable for a while (lots of early shifts).

On the other hand, it could be so many things and could be random. This bit about a couple arguing outside at the time she would have got to the University. What struck me about that was that no one ever came forward. If it hadn't been her you would think someone would have come forwards.....and said yes that was us - line of enquiry ruled out ........ if it had been her (and some attacker) well they wouldn't would they?

However what doesn't add up about that to me is - the timing. How would anyone know what time she might be on the phone to someone chatting. For example if she had been lured out in the middle of a phone call she might have said - hang on there's someone at the door. That would have been risky for anyone luring her out the back. No one could know what time she finished on the phone or went to bed.

So I'm coming back to the idea it was someone in the morning - on the way to work or someone she knew who gave her a lift.

The sighting outside the university - maroon car with the passenger door open and a couple arguing outside - there were trees behind them. She could have been left there until night and then disposed of somewhere. And a lot of people at the time were asking why the police didn't scan/xray the concrete of a new building that was being laid that day. Then there were the sniffer dogs leading to the river. I'd have thought that was the most likely place to dump a weighed down body. The River Ouse is big and flows out to sea.

Nothing in her phone calls or texts the night before suggests she planned to see anyone. But might have accepted a lift.

Who had a maroon car again? Major Lang's blog has some interesting info about a Maroon Volvo in Heworth place ...... Ok I'll give up now!
