From the article Police 'fed me to the wolves', says York landlord after pub searched in Claudia Lawrence investigation
Mr Harris said his wife went to the police station voluntarily on Wednesday.
He added: “They searched my wife’s car and found a bracelet in it and asked if my wife wore it. She said no, but my girls wear bracelets.”
He also said:" They didn’t question me at all about Claudia’s disappearance."
Unless I am getting the wrong end of the stick, it looks to me like the police took a statement from his wife, compared it to his statement, then arrested him on suspiscion of perverting the course of justice. Seems a bit like a sledgehammer to crack a nut![]()
It’s confusing. I don’t know why he doesn’t refer to ‘the woman’ as his wife? He mentions her in other comments. He said his wife had been told by police they were planning to arrest him a few weeks ago but decided to wait as his father had died.
If she did go to the police, what reasons did she go for? Years later?
“When I was questioned on Wednesday the police made it clear that all they were questioning me about was a contradiction in one of my statements to another statement I made.”

‘When Mr Harris was asked by reporters what was the ‘contradiction’ in his statements, he explained: “That’s the point they have told me not to speak about to the public because it is an ongoing investigation.’m
