Thanks @moonsafari
For those new to this thread then perhaps they should read your blog as it is an excellent overview of the characteristics and the Nags Head.
It was this article that got me interested in the Claudia case and inspired me and since I have had many a sleepless night trying to work out what happened.

Your article can be found here and I hope you don't mind the publicity?:

Whenever particularly sozzled, Claudia Lawrence liked to play the same Elton John track, Your Song…

I then went on and produced a timeline and included in this many of the facts and reveals that we often get on here over time.

By reading both articles it can save much of the question asking and provides a good start rather than having to backtrack over the 3 threads that we now have on this case.

My article can be found here:

Claudia Lawrence-Who Took Her? Who was She?

Good Luck

Thank you @MajorLang, they are both very informative articles and have given me a lot of details I was unaware of. If you ever feel like explaining, I would love to know your thoughts on, (quoting your article), "However, some that have viewed this figure have a different view and actual believe that it is not one tall person but a person carrying another person and if this is true then we all know who that could be!!"

Do you hold any credence to RB's visions?

RB ruffled a lot of feathers. We don't discuss mediums here, but he got some people's backs up which opened up a few questions.

Well l'm at home ill and l'm amazed at the amount of posts over the past couple of months.

I need to recap by reading the blog posts to understand how this all fits together.

Some initial thoughts are:
  • I think l understand why the police took the mattress from the Nags Head - the rooms were being used for illicit liaisons
  • I have always believed in the SVD existence; could it be the room was identified as being at the NG? Or was it earlier?
  • The sex game gone wrong has stuck in my mind
  • The GHDs being missing makes sense..if someone grabbed a few things to make it look like she left that morning
  • CL's mum suggested the slippers by the door were not hers, sourced in earlier post on earlier thread
  • Was the bathroom downstairs, as it may explain the toothbrush charging in the kitchen
  • Did any of CL's female acquaintances change their hair colour the day before CL went missing..was this for a special occasion e.g. a video appearance..?
  • Is this colleague lying about CL pulling an all nighter? It's an odd thing to remember a year later. And we are led to believe CL was very work conscious, this doesn't fit so well imho
  • Remembered last thing..the employer didn't call CL until 10am because that's around the time the breakfast service would have calmed down
Thoughts?

Sorry to hear you're not well! Hope for a speedy recovery.

I would say you really have caught up!

Regarding the University of York... their safeguarding procedure is/was pitiful and I would hope it has been made far more rigorous. 1 call (and nothing further!!) after someone has not showed up for work, 4 hours later than their start time, not to get in touch with them and not to do anything else? Totally inadequate. If a member of our team does not arrive for work and we are unable to get in touch with them on the phone or speak to their family to find out their wellbeing, we would go and knock on their door. If we still cannot get in touch with them, we'd pass to the Police.

Just a thought, but I wonder if there are attic connections between the cottages? Does anyone know?

I think dark man was picking up Claudia's rucksack from someone in the alley.

I don't wish to count the amount of times I've watched that CCTV footage! LOL. I don't think he is carrying a bag, to me, it just looks like a "slow-mo" part of the CCTV and what seems to be a bag is just a movement of his elbow. I wonder how many frames a second that CCTV captures.

Really? That’s a it OTT, especially to knock on an employees door. I doubt many employers would be particularly concerned about one days absence. I work for the `NHS and have never known management to go chasing for one day, they would certainly never approach an Employee at home .

Glad I don't work for the NHS then lol!
I don't feel this process is OTT, especially if someone lives alone

Hello Mrs Marple, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Lots to ponder. I’m sure you’re right about the room being used for illicit liaisons....the police certainly have something on the NH lot. Group sex, partner swapping , videos? Everything I’ve read points to that something being of a sexual nature , I’ve not heard of any drug taking/dealing , money laundering, etc.

I’m sure I read the slippers by the door were given to CL as a joke Xmas present and not ones she’d normally wear.

I believe the straighteners are the murder weapon.

The hair colour left out is very odd. Can’t quite understand why CL , who had only recently highlighted her hair professionally would want to colour it again so soon. Maybe she didn’t like it or just wanted a change? I’ve thought maybe she was colouring a friends hair but no one has come forward to confirm this. I’d guess no close friends had recently changed colour, otherwise the police would have followed that up.

I’m sure the colleague is telling the truth about the all nighter. It’s strange he didn’t mention it at the time but maybe he just didn’t think about it. I’m not sure why he’d come forward a year later if he was lying, doesn’t look good on him either way.

If CL did pack her bag and leave that morning for work, why pack straighteners? She was working in a hot, humid kitchen, possibly wearing a chefs hat with hair tied back. Surely she wouldn’t bother to straighten her hair just for the walk home, unless she was planing on meeting someone after work that afternoon. We know she was meeting a friend for drinks but that was not until late that eve so plenty of time to style her hair at home.

I always believed it was likely Halliwell who picked C up on her way to work that morning in his cab but I’m now not so sure. I’m leaning towards ‘friends’ one possibly being a woman.

If the perps were CL ‘friends’ what could possibly be the motive? I’ve not heard C was having it away with her friends boyfriend , which would be the most obvious reason, so what was it ? The answer to who lies in the motive.

Yes, there must be a sexual element to it but in what context? Sex game gone wrong? An affair? CL caught flirting with someone’s boyfriend? I’m convinced the missing straighteners are the murder weapon but then CL would have had to been killed at home and where does the hair dye come into it? Maybe it was left from days before and CL just hadn’t bothered to put it away...

If she had gone out that night she may have taken her straighteners with her if she was intending an overnight stay.

I don't buy the colleague who declares her all night out the night before-this is a diverting tactic of a sociopath and will be an omission of one of 4 arrested.
Making it sound like she had been out all night on 17th would make it sound less likely that she would go out on night of 18th.

If you want to make it look like someone has done a runner, you may want to make it look like they had disguised themselves.

This may sound far fetched, but I've been considering the theory that Claudia and others we're involved in "sexual acts" and this was a sex game gone wrong at the Nag's Head. These are simply my thoughts...

If Claudia had died in this manner, several people were involved and it would not surprise me if someone of a "high profile" profession was not also present (i.e, senior policeman, judge, politician etc) and like many others, I do believe at least one other woman would have been there.

After the initial panic (possibly trying to revive Claudia), what would be their next course of action?
Did someone try to call 999, but was stopped as calling them was "pointless", that Claudia could not be revived?
If there was a person of high profile present, they would certainly not want their "sordid" affairs coming out in public, which would damage their career and reputation. Did they have the sway to keep those involved quiet? With their connections, could they quickly arrange the means of disposal of a body?
Where could you hide a body in a pub? The cellar would be a good hiding place... not many people would venture there, mainly bar staff. It's cold and therefore would preserve a body (so usual odours of decomposition would be avoided/ greatly reduced). In addition pub cellars hold great casks/kegs, which could hold an adult inside.
What day/times did Draymen usual attend to the pub?
In the days after did Draymen make an unexpected delivery/ pick up?

Drayman called early, probably between 5 and 6 am.

Yes very plausible but if she was accidentally murdered how does that explain the CCTV alleyway footage taken before CL was last heard from? Maybe the man/men have nothing to do with the case at all. I’m convinced the straighteners, the Ford Focus, suddenly breaking outside her home and a woman are all involved in some way. The rest I’m baffled by.

Perhaps they were there to take Claudia's bag, to make it look like she left home as usual on 19th March. The straighteners were part of this (likely the woman involved said that Claudia would often take these with her to work?) The Ford Focus, was someone being brought in to help with the situation?
