@Andyboy I have wavered in the last year between wanting to support SC in what she says and having grave suspicions about what she says.
I would like to think that she is being economical in what she is saying because police have told her to do so-However, sometimes when she comments, less so in MSM but more on social media, I have grave doubts about her.
I'm sure that she, like the police know exactly who are involved.
So is it loyalty to friends or helping police with their enquiries?

That is very possible! She said it herself that since police think c’s abductor was known to her, chances are he knew SC too .Bless her .
I feel the same ambiguity about sc as most posters do.
I think, when someone we know dies, we always wish wed said different things in our last conversation and I didn't mean that she was being really horrible to her or had deliberately swung the decision about claudia.

Going back to SC's comment about that Friday: '“Everybody was in the pub for the Cheltenham Gold Cup". Did 'everybody' just mean all the usual regulars or where wives and partners there too? Because if there are so many people in York saying "everyone in York knows who did it and why" does this suggest a specific incident occurred involving CL that was very public? Or is this more general speculation based on who she was known to be in a long term 'secret' relationship with (and he being a known bad guy) whilst being known to simultaneously engage in multiple short term flings with married men? As in, people thought either "well I'm not surprised, with her carrying on like that" OR "well after the goings on in that pub last Friday, I'm not surprised."???

claudias reputation with regard to carrying on with men already in relationships cost her a lot of sympathy and maybe made people reluctant to get involved.
was she really known to be in a long term secret. relationship with a bad guy or was this something invented to muddy the waters....I thought the only long term relationship still with a. chance was with the guy in Newcastle....I dont know anything about him.....some people have said she was thinking of trying to revive that....not sure if they were telling the truth....but he'd said the distance involved had made it impossible.
re claudias attitude to. sexuality....I knew an intelligent 16 year old local girl whose father owned a bit of a drinking den and since an early age shed been encouraged to flirt. quite heavily with the male customers....she used to got around town with 2 bruisers who looked like minders....they dont live here anymore....I hope things have changed.
by everybody in York I took it to mean, all the usual punters at the nags plus lots of people who turn up for a special occasion....like everybody goes to church for a. Christmas carol service....so id. have imagined more wives and girlfriends than usual.....maybe the nags had a local reputation for putting on a particularly good night on that weekend.
I imagine both views you mentioned were held about claudia. depending on who the people were.

But what could CL have said or done that was so dangerous/threatening that someone wanted her dead?
If we rule out an unknown psycho or sick predator being responsible, then there are only two kind of possible motives: sex (incl. jealousy, honour killing etc) or money. Leaving sex to one side for a moment, if it’s money but not drug related, then the other big money area is horse racing, betting, etc. (I’m not the first person to suggest this). Could CL have found out about race fixing involving one or more of her current or past lovers who could not risk her blabbing?

Ive considered that as well, maybe race fixing, horse doping etc. We know P.McG had racehorses and that Transcore owned Sutton Stables in Norton, only a short distance from P.McG's home, and that many of the NH regulars had interest in horse racing
ive thought about race fixing, doping etc but I dont know....it does seem that the nags was being watched for drugs activity, though....and the cctv suggests something was going on.

Often wondered if the theory claudia was seeing a police officer and the Carlton pub, Was due to friends suspicions of claudias recent meetings and her visits to acomb in the weeks leading up . Maybe NYP had an ongoing investigation and targeted the weakest link for information (Claudia) knowing Claudia had more to loose and her fathers reputation. Perhaps Claudia was passing information meeting next door to the acomb investigation unit, and the visitor Claudia looked concerned of and unexpected at her door smart with brief case was connected. Perhaps Claudia was topped up with drinks and then questioned by friends on Friday ,and she spilled the beans on police questioning her regarding friends activity.Very drunk /emotions/stress and felt guilty with one too many drinks and said more than ever intended.perhaps the person giving information was no longer trusted. And Claudia appeared too weak and a risk For them all, hence group involvement. Just a theory possible x

It has been known almost from the start that she was in a secret ltr with a York man. See below from Mar 2010 'In a separate development, it was also revealed Miss Lawrence was involved in a long-term, casual sexual relationship with another man when she vanished. The man was himself involved in a long-term relationship with a woman, but is not believed to be the boyfriend Miss Lawrence was with a few nights before she went missing.'

thanks, Yozzer.....at least half the problems come from the fact that we never know when people are telling the truth about claudia
