But if NB fell in the river, providing she didn’t get caught up in strong weeds or suchlike, she could be in the sea by now.
Agree, sadly possible - she was wearing dark clothing which was unlikely to be bouyant. Rescue teams were there quickly though and they know their stuff. Let's hope that there is another alternative.

That makes perfect sense.
They got it FAST too.
The applications for these types of cases go through a fast track system but would still have taken a bit of time because I expect they would have needed the serial number (or equivalent) of her device to identify it. The forms aren’t fun to complete I can tell you!!

I think you could probably follow the river upstream, and there's The Oaks, and there appears to be a track I think.

But I think they are meaning the one you refer to. Like .... did she put her phone down, distract the dog, and just walk out of there the way she came ...
My question would be why when seemingly from family/friends etc, she was happy. I’m struggling now with foul play because if that’s the only blackspot I can’t see how a perp would have done that in broad daylight on a busy road. IMO.

The river path is at the same level as the Iron foot bridge which is connected to the road bridge. So you can't go under the bridge on Garstang Road/Blackpool Lane. You would have turn left or and then cross the road I think.
Thanks that clears up that one for me.

I've seen the US ones, absolute nightmare , the detail required is unreal..

this bit
Our enquiries now focus on the river path which leads from the fields back to Garstang Road
I think it's the one she entered by, walking by the river from the bench downstream, river on her left hand side. I would be calling that Blackpool Road, but hey ho !

There's a few pics up the thread not too far. For clarity I'm going to have to find out how to post pics here aren't I ? Pity the police don't too :)

None of the journalists have either.

I think Mr Faulding’s change of tune today may be because police have shared data gleaned from NB’s phone and Fitbit with him. The information could possibly include when her Fitbit stopped pinging/talking to the phone (gone out of range) and all sorts of other data like heart rate etc. This will have been stored by Fitbit regardless of when it was last synced (within say 30 days) and the police would have had to have applied to Fitbit to do that which takes a little time. This makes it more understandable about why they are so sure about what’s likely to have happened to her, along with all the information they will have gathered from the phone. Just because he’s an expert on underwater sonar, doesn’t make him an expert on all aspects of missing persons enquiries, especially tech and digital ones

Sadly, Fitbit won't have access to that data until its been sent through Nicolas phone via pairing.

The Fitbit itself doesnt have network capabilities. It uses Bluetooth to sync with the phone, then the phone sends the data to the cloud.

If the Fitbit hasn't synced with her phone, fitbit (the firm) won't be able to see the data.

A friend of NB posted online - to quell obnoxious rumours - a list of corrections. The one at the bottom cited a lack of CCTV in a local residential park. If someone had wanted to leave undetected, I guess it suggests they could do so there. I assume they meant 'park' and not 'car park' as they used 'residential' in front of it. But if it was via car that might be why the police are also after dashcam footage.

That suggests that she didn't have the Fitbit app on her phone, as it would presumably automatically sync when she was carrying her phone otherwise. The app may have been on a tablet/ipad or a laptop IMO. But it surprises me, especially reading that she had a strava account, that she wouldn't put the Fitbit app on the phone for prompter updates. MOO
covered in previous thread, Fitbit has to be manually synched

I find it interesting that they are appealing for any fishermen who may have been in the area to contact them as well if they have any info that could help. I dont think any witness has reported seeing anybody else on the river or in the fields that we unaccounted for at the time. IMO

In my opinion I can’t see why it is ‘a 10 minute window’. The last sighting was 9.10, the phone and dog were found at 9.33. I believe they do not know what happened between those times apart from the phone ending up on the bench at 9.20.
Even that's estimation. It hasn't been verified. It's one person.

Yes I have considered concealed in a car - I will be interested to know if they have tracked all of the cars that have left via Rowanwater residential park. The only thing is the recent police press release states:

We can say with confidence that by reviewing CCTV, Nicola has not left the field during the key times via Rowanwater, either through the site itself or via the piece of land at the side.

So if she hasn’t left the field by Rowanwater she couldn’t have been concealed in a car via Rowanwater imo.

This is what I've been thinking about, whether the data goes anywhere else or if it can be accessed in any other way other than syncing, ah it is so frustrating!

Police might be asking just so they can 100% rule it out, I'm not suggesting there's anything in that idea. Potential-perp-wise I'm keeping it simple, pushed into the river, perp either quickly exits unseen, or remains in the area. Don't want to say more on the latter cos it's the rules/TOS.

Not sure why PF is getting so much hate for offering his services..

He (along with many people on here) seemed to find the idea of NB being in the river implausible. Since the basic info put out by police is changing on a daily basis (timings, clothing descriptions etc), why wouldn’t he question their work…a lot of us on here are?

This is a professional who has being in this exact field of work for decades. He likely has more experience than the specialist teams initially deployed by the police.

He also has far superior equipment than what has previously been used in the search. Can you honestly imagine him sitting at home and not offering to help, all the while knowing this?

Finally he says he spends most of his day to day working for police in the southeast. Why would he need the exposure provided by this case? It’s been his job for over 2 decades.

All I see is one of the best in the business offering to help in a situation that requires precisely him and his team.

All my own opinion. Edited to change from southwest to southeast.

It says it here

Nicola's phone was on the bench believed to be on the bench found at around 9:33. The witness made numerous enquiries to try and find the owner of the phone, not knowing whose phone it was and, indeed, whose dog it was.

Is it on or believed to be?

The only way to resolve it is to find a direct interview with one of the witnesses or NB’s friend. The police language just isn’t clear.

IMO willow would have followed her? However from this video you can see this mans dog was originally confused and couldn’t walk past the fence so was running up and down and then as he keeps calling figures he can go under at the side?
