Events from day of Sadie Hartley's death recalled

Now we come to the events of January 14 - the day Sadie Hartley was killed.

Miss Williams said she was sent home from work around 3pm as she was ‘unwell’.

She called David Hardwick on her way home as she said that’s what she normally did on the way home. She said she saw him at her home.

“As I was backing in he arrived.”

She said they then went into the house together.

“I put the heating on as I was feeling cold.”

She said she then went and got into bed. She said Mr Hardwick stayed for around 30 minutes and let her pet dog out.

He said if I needed anything to let him know and he would come back. She said the pair spoke every evening.

Mr Hardwick then left.

Williams has admitted going to Sadie Hartley's address with Katrina Walsh on 7th Jan to deliver flowers. She says Walsh delivered the...
...flowers. It was Kit's (Katrina Walsh) idea. She wanted to see what Sadie looked like"
Williams denies going to Sadie Hartley's address before purchasing the flowers. She denies being one of 2 figures caught on CCTV at address

Asked about a clio which was purchased, Williams says it was Kit's idea to buy the car, as her Astra wasn't going to make it through MOT

She says Kit (Katrina Walsh) was the one who bought and paid for the Clio, but she admits being with her when she bought it

Asked about a pair of size 10 boots she is seen buying on CCTV, Williams says she bought them as a birthday present for Ian Johnston
Sarah Williams denies ever having a tracker device on charge in her house. She says there is an electricity socket in her garden that you...
...can access without having to go into her house
Williams says on the day of the murder, she was sent home early from work as she was unwell. She says her partner David came to check on...
...her at home as she arrived back from work and stayed for up to 45 minutes.

Am out at a meeting this afternoon, will catch up when I get home - am guessing Prosecution wont start on her until at least tomorrow ( maybe Monday ? )

How the hell does she then explain the boots she bought for IJ's birthday being worn during the murder and then buried under a heap of manure? Is she going to say Kit stole his b'day present?

 • #589
My goodness me, I find what she says astonishing given the detailed evidence the police have produced.

She sounds like a seriously deluded fantasist imo.

Can absolute denial of any involvement or knowledge provide a decent defence, is that plausible ?

She doesn't stand a chance of being believed.

[h=3]Sadie's DNA found in Sarah Williams' bath[/h]Sadie Hartley’s DNA was found in Miss Williams’ bath. She was asked if she knew how that came to be there.
Miss Williams said: “No, no idea.”
She explained it had been a ‘long time’ since Ian Johnston had been at her house, as far back as December 2013.
She was arrested and during police interview she answered ‘no comment’ to questions asked of her.
She said this was because she had been advised to do so by her solicitor.
Mr Cole has put the question to her, ‘Do you know who killed Sadie Hartley?’
She answered immediately: “No”.
She said a carabiner (climbing clip), a coat and some books belonging to Mr Johnston were still in her house. The books were on the table in front living room, carabiner in her handbag and scarf was wherever she took it off.
She was asked why it was kept in her handbag. She said: “It was of sentimental value to Ian and he had given it to me.”

Her defence barrister has put the question to Williams, do you actually know who DID kill Sadie Hartley? 'No' she replies
Asked how dna of Sadie Hartley came to be found in her bath and on her glasses, Sarah Williams answers 'I have no idea'

Hmm, is she suggesting Sadie's DNA, her blood DNA no less, fell off IJ's belongings into her bath?

Katrina walsh's defence is now cross examining Sarah Williams

I put it to you, from the moment you entered witness box you've been lying to ladies and gentlemen of jury? Williams replies 'I'd say you...
...were wrong'
Why didn't you tell the police the truth? Williams replies 'because u wanted to protect Katrina Walsh. I didn't want to implicate her'

ETA I'd say that u should read I

These two defendant cases are fun - it's like they get prosecuted twice in the witness box.

And stayed there since his last visit about 3 years ago?

Alternatively, that K Walsh killed Sadie came back to Williams' house after, had a bath there and changed her clothes before taking all evidence and burying it -- all without Williams' seeing anything ??

Sarah Williams didn't tell truth in police interviews 'to protect Kit Walsh'

Tony Cross QC, Miss Walsh’s defence solicitor is now asking Miss Williams questions.
“This is a stab wound that goes right through this lady’s neck. It entered at one side and goes right the way to the other. It was you wasn’t it, who stuck the knife through this lady’s neck.”
Miss Williams responded:
“No.”
He asked: “You didn’t have a bad word to say about Sadie, did you?”
She again responded in a one word answer: “No.”

Mr Cross then went on to ask about police interviews.
Miss Williams said: “As you are aware, the account I gave in interview wasn’t the full truth.”
Mr Cross said: “Why didn’t you tell the police the truth in those interviews which you chose to speak?”
She said it was because she wanted to protect Miss Walsh.
He asked if she thought Miss Walsh had killed Miss Hartley and she replied: “I didn’t even consider Kit killed her.”

ETA U/L she fell right into that trap - deny deny, without even considering the question.
