I was wondering what they would say. They have had plenty of time together to discuss their stories. Will the men take the blame in the hope Beinash will get a short sentence and then will be able to be in contact with the children.

I also wonder what evidence the police have. I suspect there'll be quite a lot, particularly if the note actually exists. The three of them aren't likely to know what's been found so might struggle to keep up a lie if evidence contradicts their story...
