Sara Sharif was “beaten” with objects and had suffered from human bite marks on her lower left arm and inner thigh, the court heard.
An examination of the 10-year-old’s body also found a “pattern of injuries” and “signs of traumatic brain injury”, the prosecution said.
Regarding the leg injury, prosecutor William Emlyn Jones said it had “marks which indicated that the teeth had been dragged across the surface and with central bruising probably the result of suction.”
While Sharif and Malik had provided dental impressions for comparison which had ruled them out, Batool had refused to do so.
Other injuries included to Sara’s ribs, shoulder blades, fingers and 11 separate fractures to the spine, Mr Emlyn Jones said.

Bite marks on the inner thigh?!? Suction marks and teeth dragged on the inner thigh?!?
As punishment to a child?!?
Why?! So it doesnt show marks to others? But Sara had to wear the hijab so why go through such extent to hide marks? Unless, it was to hide marks from others at home (as hijab wasn't worn at home)? Since the dental impressions isn't of Urfan or Malik, then it must be Batool (the third person in this trio of "I-shall-not-say-the-words-in-this-forum"). And she might have been hiding it from Urfan?

I would like prosecutor William Emlyn Jones to ask
  • Sharif on what he meant by -' "legally" punished her'
  • Batool on how Sara's death can be an "incident"

Horrific. Poor Sara. Can the court not order for dental impressions to be taken from all of the accused? Although 2 having been ruled out kind of speaks volumes for the one who refused.

How can this keep happening?

Surely the silent witness for some of these tortures (yep, that is exactly what I think it was - IMO) is the 13yr old brother? He must be needed for the case? Why is he still in Pakistan? My worry is that he will be influenced by the grandparents..again IMOO.

It will be interesting to see if there is any testimony from the 13 year old, though he could be nearer to 15 now. As you say being with his father and his family could very well influence him .I
Goodness knows what those children witnessed ,though I imagine the worst injuries could have been inflicted when the other children were not in the house.

This is a horrendous case. I live under 5 miles from where poor Sara lived and died. I wanted to go to the trial, but it isn't being held at Guildford Crown Court, I'm unsure why this is.

It is clear in my opinion that every adult in that house abused Sara. It breaks my heart the abuse she was subject to, as a Surrey CC foster carer I wish I could've kept her safe

Sara Sharif was burned with an iron, tied to heating pipe and suffered bite marks, bruises and 11 separate fractures to her spine in the weeks before her death, a court heard today.

She sustained fractures to her right collar bone, both shoulder blades, both arms, both hands, three separate fingers, bones near the wrist in each hand and two ribs.

It was estimated that some of the fractures were at least six weeks old, while others were fewer than 10 days old.

Prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones, KC, told jurors at the Old Bailey today that multiple fractures to 10-year-old Sara's hyoid bone suggested there had been incidents where she had been strangled in the weeks before her death.

My soul. How can a human body survive any of that? Like car accident after car accident after car accident except so much worse and at the hand of her carers. Extreme torture, no medical care. Heinous beyond belief.

I am beyond words. The pain she must have been in would have been excruciating.
I broke my wrist and was in agony even after strong pain killers.

And, my bet is even while having to endure ongoing physical pain and torture, she was likely verbally and emotionally abused too. MOO.

If she was tied to a heating pipe, then others, including the children, must have witnessed this.
There were 3 adults and 6 children ( 4 female, 2 male ) sharing a 4 bed house. Sara must have been sharing a room with her female half siblings.

So I'm guessing the burns on the inside of her ankles were from being tied to the heating pipe? We have heating pipes in our home, and they get dangerously hot!! I cannot imagine being forced to touch skin to one, let alone being tied to the pipe.

I am beyond words at the cruelty inflicted to a fellow human being.

WHY?! (Not looking for an answer, just lamenting.)

Maybe she tied Sara up when she left the house to collect them from school and kept the children away until she had released her.

All three deserve the same punishment. It is almost irrelevant who did the final blow. There was so much constant abuse, it was just a question of time before she died.

IMOO I think Batool was targeting Sara with her violence, but not her biological children.

Also, the 13yr old boy would be treated differently as culturally the first born son is treated well.

However, if these children have faced abuse or even witnessed the abuse happening to Sara, they should be brought home to UK and given the right care and help with their trauma.

Because as they grow, they will come to know that their parents murdered their sister (in front of their own eyes). They will need the right care around them to get their head around it - and not have their grandparents say "your father legally punished your sister" and according to your mother her death was just "an incident". Just MO

I feel sick with what I've just read regarding injuries. The fact the father is worried for himself is shocking in my opinion. JMO.
