I would argue the point that her mother 'consented' to the children living with US and BB. Having been through family court as a parent, attended as a professional and a litigation friend, parents can face significant pressure to 'consent' ie if you don't agree, the court will make the order anyway and you'll get even less contact with your children. It's possibly a small point in the scheme of this whole tragedy, but I feel its worth sharing my POV and experience. JMO

Not to mention the psychopathic maniacal ex threatened her:

Thank you jury, I'm glad to see those verdicts, exactly what I hoped to see. Hopefully the judge will be able to justify very long sentences.

Poor Sara, and poor all the other children too, going on the reports I've seen tonight. I'm glad for child Z that they were removed permanently (I wonder if they know they're related to Sara; they most be almost adult by now if they were 3 in 2010? Horrible thing to discover whenever they do find out), it's such a pity U and Sara weren't also never returned.

Having been homeschooled myself for a few years (by loving, caring parents), I'm all for it remaining available to those who will use it properly, but why oh why, if a child is seen with a questionable injury, and then removed into "homeschooling" shortly afterwards, does that not raise a giant red flag? Not once, but twice in this case? I don't think homeschooling should be allowed in such a situation, particularly with the history already known; it seems the school was doing its best to care for Sara, so she should've remained under their watch (or just plain removed from US, I'm baffled at how that placement was allowed to begin with).

Still, I'm glad justice has been done for Sara, over to the judge now.

Also, can I just say that the man is clearly a complete idiot. His best course of action was clearly to admit to allowing the death and testifying against the other two. The Crown would probably have accepted the plea and not put him on trial for murder at all. He'd now be looking at time served or at most a couple more years inside, but instead he's probably looking at 10.

I thought that too, it would've been so much better for him, assuming he was not involved (and as I've said before, I truly hope he wasn't - two evil people and one cowardly bystander is much easier for my faith in humanity to accept than three evil people).

However, perhaps family pressure might have caused his silence; I was recently reading about a case where the perpetrator's sister went against the family line that "of course he's innocent" and accepted the evidence suggested guilt - and they cut her off completely for it. And just accepting the possibility of guilt is a step far lower than actually giving evidence in court against a family member, so some families would see that as a huge betrayal. Not everyone is strong-willed enough to go against the entire family in a close-knit family, so perhaps that's a possible reason for his silence.

I find it difficult to believe Sara was in a fit state to video call with Grandpa on the day of her death. Self preservation?
I’m also suspicious that he helped the terrible 3 in their plight to evade police in Pakistan.

Yes, I found that questionable too. Sounds in fact somewhat similar to what we were hearing from US originally about what all Sara was allegedly doing when he arrived home the day she died.

I think there is a strong argument for giving Malik a life sentence (with a minimum term) and for giving Urfan Sharif a whole life order and I think the judge will seriously be considering both of those.

Batool can have no complaints if she is also given a whole life order but I don’t think she will. My guess is life with a minimum term of between 27-30 years. But I am no legal expert and that’s just a guess.

Well deserved as they would be, I don't think there will be whole life orders, although I would be delighted to be proved wrong. I'm hoping it will be around the 40 year mark.

Home schooling should be supervised by Educational Authorities.
There is basic compulsory curriculum for every level and the homeschooled kids must take exams at the end of each term (as is in my school).

Homeschooling seems to become an excuse for abusers to keep their victims prisoners in the house and torture them with nobody any wiser.

Every child has a right to education
and supervision is necessary.

Also,
Abolition of physical punishment is a must too in civilized countries.

There is no such thing as "legal physical punishment"
so eagerly taken advantage by sick abusers.

far from teachers' attention.
Teachers should call Police directly if they have any suspicions of abuse.

Completely agree. And neighbours have a duty to each other. So worried about looking nosy in front of the grownups next door that they ignore the rights of the vulnerable minors. In Africa the saying goes: it takes a village to raise a child.

Yes. I wish murderers this age could be sterilised so they never parent again. Serial abusers like Urfan Sharif use, abuse move on and prey again, often using procreation as control. Six kids plus a seventh older child, as it emerged yesterday. Sometimes being locked up doesn't stop the pattern of behaviour. Wardens fall prey to charm and flattery by some of the most violent criminals. There will be victims everywhere he goes.
