You know these WA cases so well @Seattle1. Do you think they will try him as an adult @ 15?
It was so violent, him checking to see if they were all dead (by pulses or by their breathing) and the fact he tried to set up the younger brother as the shooter tells me he was well aware of the nature of his actions.
It's a miracle the younger sister survived thankfully, but I cannot imagine how hard and traumatic it is and will be for her to process this.

Thank you @Seattle1. Wow, he could be looking at 10-12 year sentence IF found guilty. I wonder if the number and violent nature of the crimes would result in a longer sentence?I believe the youth offender here will be tried as an adult. However, WA State long ago adopted the Supreme Court Miller decision prohibiting youthful offenders from serving LWOP sentences, and WA Judges have much discretion at sentencing.
For example, I recall in 2023, Gabriel Davies and Justin Yoon, both 17, robbed and murdered Davis' mother's former fiance in Orting, WA. They took plea deals for 2nd-degree murder, and sentenced to 150 months (only 12 years plus 33 months probation).
Ben Eastman, 16, of Randle, WA, was brutally murdered by Benito Marquez, 17, his best friend since age 5, and his 21-yr old brother. Ultimately, about 5 others including their mother were also charged in Ben's death.
Benito was charged as an adult, and he pled guilty to first-degree murder, first-degree rape, tampering with evidence, and unlawful disposal of remains. The prosecutor's office recommended a sentence of 413 months. Both cases are on WS and the sentences don't include the early-time release credits for good behavior, etc.

The victims' lives mattered and each life worthy of 10-12 years! IMO, if convicted, he'll probably be eligible for parole after 25 years, for 5 lives.Thank you @Seattle1. The cases you cited were single murders. In this case five people were brutally gunned down. The victims' lives mattered and each life worthy of 10-12 years! IMO, if convicted, he'll probably be eligible for parole after 25 years, for 5 lives.![]()
Totally agree.IMO 10 -12 years wouldn't be long enough. Not for justice, not for the surviving sister to feel safe with him out there, and not for rehabilitation, if someone like him even could be.
Holy smokes, if these allegations are true, then I feel sympathy for all of the children who were forced to grow up in such a psychologically/emotionally unhealthy home—and, though I hate to admit it, my sympathy on account of this extends even to the accused murderer.![]()
New details emerge on strict, isolated life of family allegedly slain by teen in Fall City
The defense team for a 15-year-old boy accused of killing five of his family members at their Fall City home is asking for a delay in court proceedings.komonews.com
Claims that the family was isolated, paranoid of the government and medical professionals, and that the home was abusive, tightly controlled, and dominated by extreme religious beliefs. The documents also allege that the children were given access to firearms and raised under a “rigid, militant survivalist ideology.”
The children's maternal grandmother allegedly reported that her daughter, the 15-year-old's mother, "was abusive and demeaning to the children." She allegedly told law enforcement she threatened to report her daughter if the abuse did not stop, court documents say.

Agree, the job of the defense at this point is to keep their client from being tried as an adult. Lots of blaming the victims here, but that is the defense's job in a case like this. And who knows if the daughter and grandmother were estranged and the grandmother didn't like the lifestyle and/or values of the daughter and sees that as somehow abusive, same with some neighbors. Lots we don't know at this point, and I'm not ready to blame the victims.Very interesting, but I’m still not convinced. This is coming from the defense after all.
He didnt just kill the parents, he killed all of his siblings-except for the sister who survived. Then tried to pin it on his brother. There is more to this story which needs to come out.
Ahhh, the plot thickens. The defense is severely limited in ways to defend this kid. Vilifying the parents he murdered is disgusting, but predictable.^^rsbm
I think if this goes to trial, we might hear something more from this grandmother-- maybe how she was allegedly bleeding her daughter dry, threatening to sue for hourly payment as the 'nanny granny.' Instead, the victim quit her RN job and moved far away from Edmonds to the Lake to enjoy being a stay-at-home parent full-time. MOO
I don't know why this article and the DM are saying their extreme religious beliefs, etc., are new news. I posted about that back in last October, almost a year ago. From my post:![]()

It's sounds like they were very controlling parents from various things I've read. Upthread there's been discussion that he had "gotten into “a lot of trouble” for failing some tests", and now this...I would love to learn more about the family dynamic. What causes a 15 year old to annihilate his family? My heart breaks for the young survivor. I hope she receives all the love and therapy she needs.
