Where I live in southern Ontario, in the summer it's very common to see girls in shorts and those sort of retro-style slouch/ankle boots or low-rise mocs. I'm not sure about the current trends in Bremerton, but high-top tennis shoes are still very popular for boys, pretty much everywhere I think.

Teenage girls in Daisy Duke shorts and cowboy boots are VERY common here, but they'd be in about the last category of suspects to murder and dump a 6 year old girl, IMHO.

Yeah even if this is true, he as to be aware of how it looks so soon after this child's disappearance and brutal murder. Like man, use your filter or something.

It's a Mormon thing. We saw that with one of the parents of the Sandy Hook school shootings. They don't filter it because their belief/faith is a constant factor 24/7. They are "In the world, but not of the world" if that makes sense. They are judged by God and not the society they live in.
Just trying to explain where this father is coming from. His fellow Mormons understand, but non-Mormons may find it "strange" or "different".
But I totally get what your saying. Without being a LDS member, his comments aren't what you'd expect. As an ex-LDS, I find it totally normal, but that doesn't mean I agree with it.
Hope that makes sense?

I did think of a female wearing boots. I suppose is possible to be wearing fashion boots but marching through the woods with fashion boots seems unlikely and I do not think a girl would want to destroy her fashion boots.

Girls with cowboy boots are a possibility. Where I live , no one male or female wears cowboy boots. Do people wear cowboy boots in that area?

It would seem like cowboy boots would be super slippery walking in the woods.

It is interesting that it is not a shoe like a running shoe.

Who wears boots nowadays? That seems strange for a teen to wear.

But I have no idea of fashion in that area.

Where I live, kids wear flip flops, Keen sandals, or running shoes of some type.

Well, I grew up in Texas, so I was actually born with a pair of cowboy boots on. I'll probably have a pair on when they bury me too.

The cops aren't saying what "kind" of boots, they just said boots. When I walk down the shoe aisle at K-mart or Wal-mart, I see all kinds of boots for both males and females. Some of them are hiking boots, rain boots, snow boots, cheap cowboy boots. I think the key here is that they most likely would have some sort of a traction tread. Rubber soles with a tread pattern. Every pair of cowboy boots I own have got a rubber sole on them, leather is too slippery. I think that is what they mean when referring to the boots. I've seen a lot of tennis shoes and basketball shoes with a really aggressive tread as well. I believe they stated it could be shoes OR boots , coated with mud, that should be noted.

I wish they would say boots or shoes.

Boots is a huge clue, to me, because it would limit the people .

I have winter boots. I have rain boots, but they simply are not comfy. Hot.

My hubby loves wearing work boots, all day even in the summer!

Do kids still wear Uggs year round, even with shorts? I used to see them a lot. They looked so hot in the summer, but I know being in style is not about comfort. :)

Cowboy boots in this area would be a no. When I think of boots, mostly what you see are work boots. Something like Red Wings or logger boots are common, but not so much with teens. Something that is very common, even with teens, are, not sure what to call them. . .camping or hiking boots. . .more like a tennis shoe, high top, but with thick rubber work boot type soles.

Yeah I live in upstate NY and have a summer house on the thousand islands (I can see Canada from my dock, lol) ...

I have hunter wellies (knee high rubber rain boots) for romping through the marsh behind our house (we are working on a project with the dept of environmental conservation to preserve wildlife in the marshes so we have to get rid of parasitic fragmite so the real cat tails can grow which keeps the ecosystem healthy and balanced so ducks and fish are plentiful) ... So my point is, it rains a lot and I'm in the water a lot so I wear those boots w shorts or my swimsuit and look a little ridiculous but they are awesome.

It's very very very *very* common for a member of the clergy to be called in, counsel whoever needs counsel, and then make a statement. It sounds like he knows him/her/them well, but in reality all he's really doing is trying to focus on the positive and encourage hope. It happens with cases like this, and more obviously funerals. I can't tell you how many pastors have given a funeral sermon and know NOTHING about the deceased, but talk about them like they were some super hero.

LDS Bishops "USUALLY" know their congregation pretty well. Members annually are called into the Bishop's office to talk about their faith, tithing, and their adherence to the church's commandment and Articles of Faith. It's a highly structured religion with checks and balances. Doesn't mean a Bishop might not "sugar coat" something. It's like Las Vegas........ what happens in the church with it's members, stays in the church. It's not for public consumption. The only time the church publicizes something is if a member has done something incredibly contrary and puts a bad light on the church, or someone with "radical thinking" is gathering a following.

I tried to find a MSM that lists the dad as a mormon and was unable to verify it although I've seen it in this thread. As an ex-LDS member, does he seem at ALL like an LDS member to you? I mean really, there are a lot of mormons around here and many mormon churches (all named after the local public elementary school they are closest to, which is kind of eye-catching and unusual to me) but he is the least like a Mormon and the family reflect least like a mormon family than anyone I've seen in that church. Lots of selfies with cleavage isn't something a wife of a mormon does, IMHO. Ever.

BBM.

"Byron has been visiting with James and Denise Wright since Monday, when the family called him to ask for support. James Wright is a member of the church and attended services with the children. When the body was found Thursday, Byron was summoned to the home by investigators to help."

They probably have plenty of evidence in addition to the boots, that would get you off the hook. ;)

With my luck, I would be the only guy in the neighborhood that was passed out drunk when everything happened. NO Alibi !

Military type boots? Like the black laceup kind? Work boots? The tan ones that lace up? Both of those would do well. The kuds I see that still wear all black wear those boots summer or winter as do people accustomed to wearing work boots... Around here it's girls that wear boots in the summer, mostly everyone wears flip flops...I'm on the other side of the US so now clue about Bremerton. How far away is Ft Lewis? (about 40 miles)I'm not thinking perp is in the military, but a wannabe perhaps or someone that was refused enlistment?

All posts are MOO

Boots? Hmm that's interesting. I wonder if they only have ONE set of prints, or if there are multiple? If they have a clear boot print, IMHO, best to say there is a (whatever type, workboot, hiking boot, cowboy boot) in approx size (whatever) that we are looking for. Anyone living with a person would notice a missing pair of boots - but with tennis shoes or flops, not so much.

The chances that this perp is female is about zero percent, IMHO, Sandra Cantu's case notwithstanding.

Totally agree. It is highly unlikely the perp is female. Combat type boots are very in style for teens in Canada, I don't know about in the U.S.

Right?! I am in Rochester and live about 15 min from palmyra- hill cummorah land! Anyway here we have a huge Mormon pop. I grew up w a lot of them in a very wealthy suburb- all of the Mormons I am friends with (and still are friends with) were very conservative in views and dress. Very well dressed though. Very well cared for as children and in turn now that two of them in particular are married and parents, they are wonderful, watchful parents and have always been very kind and thoughtful souls.

I know there are bad people in every walk of life but I have never seen a Mormon family like this ever.

I wear my ugg slippers in the summer :) with sweats. To the grocery store sometimes (you can't tell they are slippers) .... But no boots. I actually hate the boots. The slippers are like walking on pillows though

These type of "cowboy boots" have had a huge surge across "cultural" boundaries.
View attachment 56648

They're light weight and incredibly comfortable, no pinch, no breaking in. Throw a pair of jeans over them and no one knows they're "cowboy boots".
"Cowboy boots", they're not just for cowboys." :floorlaugh:

I have never seen these type on a male teen but have once on a female.

There is a naval base in Bremerton. . . lots of military!

Army style combat boots are in style for teens. Some look in between army boot and hiking boot.

Wear I live, people have Uggs for winter.

No one would wear them here in the summer.

Fashion sure does vary from place to place.

Here the outdoor athlete is the look whether you are one or not.

I was sure of who "dunnit" at the beginning of Jenises disappearance, but now I am a bit confused. However, I am confident that it is someone she knows well. No more speculation for me as I'm going to wait for the enviable arrest. But, i believe the perp is male.
